Chapter 58

Laura pov

I studied the map on her tablet, my eyes fixed on the path that could lead someone out of the house. I was engrossed in the details, but I struggled to identify the main entrance. Suddenly, a realization struck me - the map didn't show an exit, which meant the entrance and exit must be in the same location. I jolted upright, my heart racing as I approached the door. Just then, Evelyn called out to me, her voice filled with enthusiasm. "Laura, would you like some pancakes?" she asked, her optimism palpable.

"Absolutely, I'd love some pancakes!" I replied, trying to use my enthusiasm for breakfast as a diversion. My mind raced with the urgent need to escape the building. "Okay, Laura, I'll get them ready in a jiffy. Should I add a dash of magic to them?" Evelyn asked playfully. I nodded absent-mindedly, my eyes scanning the room frantically for the exit.

"No, no need for that," I said hastily, my gaze darting around the space. Finally, I spotted the door, and a wave of relief washed over me. "Thank goodness," I breathed, my eyes fixed on the exit.

I made a beeline for the exit, my heart racing with excitement and a hint of fear. Evelyn's voice called out behind me, "Laura, Your pancakes are ready!" But I didn't dare look back. I pushed open the door and slipped out into the bright sunlight, feeling a sense of freedom wash over me.

As I emerged from the building, I took a deep breath of fresh air and looked around frantically for a way out. The grounds were surrounded by a high wall, but I spotted a small gate in the distance. I sprinted towards it, my feet pounding the pavement.

Just as I reached the gate, I heard a voice behind me. "Laura, stop! You can't leave like this!" It was Evelyn, her voice laced with concern and a hint of warning. I turned to face her, my heart pounding in my chest.

I hastened my pace, my eyes scanning frantically for an escape route, my mind racing with the details of the map. Finally, I burst out onto a bustling street, the vibrant energy of the crowd enveloping me in a sense of liberation. "It wasn't easy to get here," I breathed, my feet carrying me forward as I gazed around in wonder.

The unfamiliar surroundings made me realize that I was far from my pack's territory - the architecture, the smells, the sounds were all different. I felt a thrill of excitement mixed with a hint of trepidation as I navigated this new terrain.

As I walked, the streets grew increasingly familiar. I recognized the old clock tower in the distance,my old pack has the same clock tower, and the quaint little café where I had spent countless hours studying during my days in alpha Frank's pack.

I was in the heart of the city, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of everyday life. But something felt off. The streets seemed quieter than usual, the faces more somber. And then, I saw it - a poster plastered on the side of a building, bearing a message that made my heart skip a beat:

"Warning: beware of outside Werewolve. This is a secured werewolf Pack Territory. Enter at Your Own Risk."

My eyes widened as I stared at the poster, my mind racing with the implications. This was no ordinary neighborhood. I had stumbled into the heart of the werewolf pack's territory, and I was alone and vulnerable.

Without warning, a hand grasped my shoulder, whirling me around. I came face to face with a stunning woman, her smile radiant. "Hey, miss, you're blocking my view," I said, feigning annoyance, but she just laughed, her eyes sparkling. I turned back to see what she was looking at, and my eyes widened in amazement.

"Wow!" I exclaimed, taking in the scene before me - a group of werewolves engaged in a fierce battle. I turned back to the woman, my expression apologetic. "Sorry about that, I was in the way," I said with a giggle, stepping aside to give her a better view.

The lady's eyes never left the battle scene, her gaze fixed on the snarling werewolves. "No need to apologize, I was enjoying the view," she said with a sly smile. I followed her gaze, my heart racing with excitement. The werewolves were evenly matched, their movements swift and deadly. I felt a shiver run down my spine as I realized that I was watching a fight to the death.

Suddenly, one of the werewolves lunged forward, its jaws wide open. The other werewolf tried to dodge, but it was too late. The attacker's teeth sank deep into its opponent's neck, and a faint cry echoed through the air. The victorious werewolf stood panting, its chest heaving with exhaustion.

The lady's hand on my shoulder tightened, her nails digging into my skin. "Come on, let's get out of here," she whispered urgently. "This isn't a safe place for you."

I hesitated, my eyes fixed on the gruesome scene before me. But the lady's grip was insistent, and I found myself being pulled away from the battle, into a beautiful street.

I halted mid-step, my sneezes subsiding, and asked, "Why the hurry?" But the woman just chuckled, her eyes sparkling with amusement.

"I apologize, miss, but that's the alpha," she explained, her voice low and conspiratorial. "He's a bit... possessive. When he's victorious, he doesn't like to be the object of admiration from other women. It's best we don't draw his attention."

I nodded, understanding. The alpha's reputation preceded him, and I had no desire to cross him. We quickened our pace, weaving through the crowded streets until we reached a small, unassuming door hidden between two larger buildings.

The woman pushed the door open, revealing a dimly lit stairway that led down into darkness. She flipped a switch, and the room was suddenly bathed in light, revealing a beautiful space filled with vibrant flowers and stunning paintings.
