Chapter 43.

**Gabriel’s POV.**

Beep. Beep. Beep.

That sound, that sound was so fucking annoying, I wanted to make it stop so bad but my body felt like a fucking ton of bricks. Where the hell was I and what the fuck was wrong with me? Where those bastards playing some kind of sick joke on me?

I forced my eyes to open but had to shut them back as the bright light invaded my vision, I wanted to curse but my throat felt like I had eaten fifty sheets of sandpaper. I tried to open my eyes slowly the next time while blinking rapidly to let my eyes adjust to the light and take in my surroundings- I was in a hospital, why?

“Hey there Cinderella”, I heard a soft voice say, “You done fainting like a little pussy?”, fainting? Oh shit! I fucking fainted, I could remember everything now; they were talking about how I was losing weight and how I did not eat enough, I was saying something and everything suddenly went black- I fainted, damn it!

I was about to say something but I was pretty sure it was going to come out as a growl, luckily, Alex shoved a glass of water at me and I took it in quickly, letting the liquid cool and moisturize my dry as hell throat. Breathing out, I handed him the cup and noticed that something was connected to my arm- I was hooked up to a fucking machine for Christ sake! “What the hell is going on?”,

“You fainted like a fucking pussy”, I rolled my eyes at Kevin’s answer, of course they would never let me live this through,

“Why?”,

“Why?”, he let out a scoff of disbelief, “You should know why Mr. ‘I am not hungry’, you did not have enough fucking food or water in your system so you fainted like a little girl!”, he calmed down, “You could’ve died you fucking idiot, they had to feed you with a fucking tube for the last two days and-”, wait a fucking minute!

“I was out for two days?”, this was a major set back in our mission and I was taking the full blame for it- I was such an idiot,

“Cold dude, we had to rush you to the hospital as fast as we could, thank God we did or Tessa wouldn’t have a Gabriel to choose over us anymore”, Alex butted in, “The doctor should be here any minute but we need to talk about something”, I lifted my self off the bed to take a sitting form as I gave them my attention,

“What is it?”, I asked, watching as Kevin sighed and Alex took the seat that was beside him, “What is it?”, I repeated again.

Kevin sighed again, “The main reason why I called you both two days ago was because Drew called”, he paused and looked at me, “He was trying to reach you but you know…”, I nodded my head in understanding, I remember clearly that I had smashed my phone into tiny pieces even after it had hit the wall,

“By the way, I got you a new one”, Alex pointed out before allowing Kevin to continue,

“Anyway, he said that father left home a day before and he had heard him talk about Tessa and getting a plane or something”, he sounded so unsure but anything worked for me at this point.

“Does he know where he went to?”, I asked, the disappointment was vivid on my face when Kevin shook his head,

“No but he did say he was going to dig a little deeper for us”,

I groaned, “How long is that going to take?”, I could not take another day of this emotional torture, it was getting way too hard for me to bear- fainting was just the peak of the fucking mountain.

“He did not say but it might take a while. He also said that its possible that dad knows he is an impostor or a double agent or whatever, apparently, he doesn’t trust him as much as he used to”, Kevin said,

“Or he never did”, Alex whispered, we both gave him identical faces of confusion so he decided to elaborate, “Think about it”, he said as he stood up from his seat, “It cannot be a coincidence that father promoted a gate guard to his personal security just like that, there must be a catch somewhere, a loop hole that we are not seeing”.

I had to agree with Alex on this one, honestly, I never really knew was capable of being this smart, I always just saw him as a dumbass Casanova, “Well, he did promote Drew just a week before he sent Tessa away, could it be possible that he knew they were friends and that she would trust him?”, that was my theory but right now, everything seemed so messed up and out of place,

“So, he is leading us in circles? Father, that is”, it seemed like Kevin was finally digesting everything but not properly,

“Not necessarily circles”, Alex said, “Father knows we are smart when we work together so he is trying to outsmart us by using our smartness against us, am I making any sense?”, I nodded, knowing exactly what he meant, Kevin had also caught on to it,

“He knows we are going to think outside the box when the answers are really inside the box, right there in front of us”, Kevin said with widened eyes before turning to Alex, “The bastard never took her to the north, it was all a ruse to distract us from where she really was! Call Drew ASAP, he isn’t safe there. Father was purposely trying to sabotage us through him”, he said hurriedly, “I think I know where she is”, he said turning to me, I gave him a nod of acknowledgement because I also had a feeling that I had figured out where my psycho of a father had taken her to,

“Tell him to meet us at Wyoming”, I was going to save Tessa, no one and nothing could stop me- I was going to make sure of that. If dad wanted to play dirty, I was going to play dirty too, “See if we can get some guns as well”, I had no problem with shooting a couple motherfuckers if it meant that I would see Tessa again, fuck! I would shoot a whole state for just a glimpse of her bright blonde hair- I did not care if I sounded like a lunatic because right now, I was fucking insane.

She had taken my sanity with her to where I hoped was Wyoming- my father’s fucking home town.
