I'm sorry
Rae’s POV
Oh, my Moon Goddess! I was expecting him to say he wanted me out of the pack, to say that I was going back to the dungeons or that I should not try to steal anything when I went upstairs to help with the cleaning.
Instead, Alpha Erik just offered to help me to read. After I said I didn’t know how to, because I don’t. Knowing a few words is not considered ‘know’, he said he could assist me, if I wanted to.
I had to think for a while before I answered him. If I said no, it would look as if I was being ungrateful, and I was not. And accepting meant I was going to spend more time with him, around him.
Ok, I was afraid of him. After he threatened Aaron, even when the Beta told me it was not serious. I started to see him as some kind of an enemy. Not exactly that, but also not friendly. It was hard to label him. By that, I could say ‘no’.
The problem was that I was also attracted to him. It was not just his looks, or his scent. It was like there was another Erik deep inside him. During that trip, I could see it. There were moments that he had a more relaxed look and then, pain would pass through his eyes. Once Aaron told me that Alpha Erik had a tough childhood and that held a great part of what he was today.
“Yes.” Was my answer. I think I saw a slight smile on his lips, but maybe it was my imagination. It was so subtle that might have never even existed in the first place.
“Great. We’ll start tomorrow. You do your chores by the day and after dinner, you come here and we will have those lessons. An hour a day, to begin with.” He said, very serious. I nodded at him. “Is it good for you?”
I nodded again and I saw the dissatisfaction in his eyes.
“Yes, it is good for me.” I answered. The look he was giving me softened. That was what he wanted. He wanted me to speak to him. Out loud.
“Good girl.” He rose from his seat and walked to the door. I did the same, because he was clearly sending me out.
“Thank you.” I said, looking down.
“Rae?” He called and my heart leaped. It was strange that he called me by my nickname. It seemed too intimate. I looked up to him and he was very close to my face. I took one step backward and he took one ahead. My back hit something hard. “When I speak to you, always look at me.” He said in a voice that sent shivers down my spine. Not those of fear, though. It made something between my legs answer that. Just like when we were near the ice cream store.
“Yes.” I said, looking into his green eyes.
“Now, go do your chores. And get ready for tomorrow.” He backed away and opened the door for me. I took my leave and almost ran back to the kitchen.
Cassandra was waiting for me. I knew she was because she was sitting on the red stoll , one elbow on the top balcony, her chin resting on her hand, while the other hand was drumming fingers.
The moment I stepped in the kitchen, she practically jumped and approached me, looking at my body quickly. I believe she was looking for bruises and cuts.
“What happened?” She asked, worried. I shook my head at her.
“He just wanted to know if I could read and write.” I answered and Cassandra frowned, tilting her head to the side.
“What for?” She asked me and I just shrugged my shoulders.
“When I said I didn’t, he offered to tutor me after work.”
“To tutor you?” She asked, still not believing. her tone was of someone trying to understand what was said to her.
“Yes.”
“This is just… Well, this is great and scary.”
I chuckled and nodded.
“Why does he want to tutor me?” I asked her.
“I don’t know, my dear.”
After that, I helped Cassandra to prepare lunch and then, I went upstairs to clean the rooms. Cassandra went along and showed me the basics.
“Now, I’ll let you clean this one on your own and when you’re finished, you call me, so I can take a look and make appointments, if necessary.”
I nodded to her and smiled, while taking a deep breath. Cassandra smiled and left the bedroom.
Compared to my bedroom, this one was really big. But it was clear that no one was staying there. That was why she asked me to clean it. She wanted me to know what to do and, if I committed any mistake, I wouldn’t be messing with anything from anyone.
I started with the restroom. Not so difficult. I heard the door opening, but I thought it was Cassandra. I didn’t bother to go and look. My nose was full of those weird smells from those products, but I sensed something familiar. It was getting stronger and I looked around. Then, I heard a moan. What was happening?
I got up from the floor and brushed my knees and went to the room to see what was going on. That was when I saw Alpha Erik on the bed, with an Omega on top of him. The girl was half naked, her breasts showing off. He was with his clothes, but his pants were on his knees.
He stopped moving and turned his head at me. His eyes, which seemed to be full of some kind of joy, became cold instantly. That was when I knew I had to move and get the hell out of there.
“I’m sorry.” I mumbled and left the room as fast as I could.
I saw the stairs and was aiming for it. I had to get to the kitchen and pretend nothing happened. Or better, that I saw nothing.
Why was my heart like this? It was like Someone was holding it, preventing it from beating. My stomach was hurting. My head was hurting. There was not enough air.
I felt a warmth on my wrist and myself being pulled to the left.
“Ouch!” I let out and the room was all dark. It was him. His scent. His mint and soil scent.
I gulped. What was he going to do? He was having fun with that girl, one I didn't recognize, and I spoiled it. He was mad, I was sure of it.
“I’m sorry.” I said again. My face was almost touching the door I was facing, when his body got closer to me. His hot breath was on my shoulders. He was going to rip my head off.
