Nina

I try to force my eyes open, and blink away the pain that is beginning to cause tears to spring into my eyes. Yet for some reason my eyes don’t budge. They feel as if they are glued shut. I feel so much pain like a burning fire emanating from my abdomen, and spreading to the rest of my body. I want to scream from the pain, but I can’t move. No matter what I do my body won’t respond to what I'm telling it to do. Suddenly I feel a hot burning sensation in my arm, and the pain begins to slowly drift away. As does my consciousness, and I once again drift into black nothingness.

Voices that are what I hear. I recognize one of them instantly as Derek, the other is female. I don’t recognize the voice. I try to open my eyes again, but fearing they won’t like the last time. This time they open, and I shut them back immediately from the light. It was only a glance, but I saw I was in a hospital. I had been in them enough to know I had a remote for lights, so I moved my hand to begin searching for the remote when another hand catches my own. I groan in annoyance as I cannot open my eyes to such a bright light.
“Nina?” I hear Raff’s worried voice, but it isn’t him holding my hand. I don’t feel the sparks. Out of pure curiosity I open my eyes again trying to blink to adjust to the light causing new tears to rest at the corner of my eyes, and a couple of them to spill out. When they finally adjust I find Grey holding my hand looking like he hasn’t slept in days. I goran again trying to speak, but my throat hurts too much. Raff hears my groan, and brings me a glass of water helping me sit up to drink it. Instantly I feel the sparks from the bond rush through me at his touch. I swallow the water greedily, and feel pleasure as the cool liquid goes down my throat. When I finish the glass I take a look around the room. I notice a strange woman standing at the foot of my bed staring at me worriedly dressed in scrubs. She had jet black hair with dark brown eyes, and caramel colored skin with a sweet but worried smile on her face. When she saw me look at her she moved forward to the side of my bed without any people on it.
“Hi Alpha. My name is Naomi. I am your nurse. How are you feeling?” She asked with concern, lacing her words. Taking out a pin, and shining it in my eyes to which I naturally flinched to. I heard a low growl from behind me, and didn’t need to turn around to know it was Raff. I smiled back sweetly, and apologetically at Naomi.
“I feel ok.” I whispered, my throat still a little dry, and not used to being used after so long. She nods understandingly.
“Any pain or discomfort?” She inquired, stepping back satisfied with my eyes. I shake my head not really wanting to talk. She gives me an understanding smile sliding her light back into her front pocket. “Well then alpha, I think you will be fine.” She says walking towards the door to the room. I smile a silent ‘thank you’ in gratitude as she slips through the door nodding in return. Now being left alone I realize I am stuck in a hospital bed with two guys who recently all hurt me in some way. As I think this I pull my hand away from Grey and give him a glare.
“Why am I here?” I ask, finally realizing I have no clue how I ended up in a hospital bed, and What happened?” I finish the two part question looking around at the worried faces before me. Raff is the first one to step forward. He explained I was visiting him when I collapsed from exhaustion in the hospital. When the nurses got there they immediately rushed me to my own room. I had been unconscious for three days. My first thought when I heard that was of the pack. I panicked and looked at Derek with wide eyes seeing him just enter the room. He seems to instantly understand, and nods at me.
“The pack is fine. Me and Grey have been keeping an eye on it. Taking turns on who is here and who is there.” I look at Grey wondering why neither was there now. “The Doc said there was movement, so he rushed over here as fast as he could.” Grey answered as if reading my mind. I nod my head in understanding as I lay back down in bed feeling fatigued.
“By the way you three look terrible.” I say to them all, chuckling, before I close my eyes for some rest.

I open my eyes to a now dark room, but I still feel his presence, so I look around to find Derek and Grey gone, and Raff standing next to the window looking out at the night. I couldn’t help but stare at how perfect he looked in the moonlight. His shirt is just tight enough to see the muscles hiding beneath. Sensing someone staring he turned around, and locked eyes with me. I laid there frozen from his gaze as he just stared into my eyes. He began walking towards me without breaking eye contact, and I felt my heart leap into my throat. I barely registered the steady beeping of the heart monitor making a spike in its pattern. He stopped at the chair next to my bed and sat down taking my hand in his. His eyes shifted from mine to the heart monitor that was beeping rather quickly next to me, and a small smile appeared on his face as he looked back at me.
“If it gets much faster the nurse will come in to check on you.” He joked with a small smile on his face. He was right though, and I didn’t want this moment interrupted, so I closed my eyes trying to ignore the sparks coming from my hand, and took a deep breath as I focused on slowing my heart rate. The beeping began to slow as I took deep breaths. I began opening my eyes, seeing the smile on Raff’s face as I did so. Fully opening my eyes I scanned his body slowly moving from his abdomen to his chest up to his square jaw line where he had a smile resting on his lips up to his green eyes, and my breath froze. His green eyes were staring at me so intently I couldn’t help the way my breath hitched. His free hand came up from beside him, and gently cupped my cheek with his thumb running across my cheek bone. “I’m sorry.” Was all he said. His eyes held so much pain in them I felt tears prick at the corners of my eyes.
“I-“ I opened my mouth to speak, but he cut me off.
“I have been a horrible mate. I hurt you so much, and in trying to protect you I ended up hurting you, and I put you in here. I’m so sorry Nina, I’m so sorry.”He hung his head as his body shook. I squeezed his hand in mine, and smiled faintly at him when he looked back up at me.
“Raff, it’s okay, but why were you trying to protect me? From what?” I saw his eyes go wide as he realized the questions I asked. He looked down at the ground, and his hand gripped mine tighter.
“Nina, I…” I squeezed his hand again letting him know it was ok. “ There is something I need to tell you.” He sighed, but before he could say anything more the door opened causing us both to jump as Grey and Derek walked in holding hands and smiling.
