Approaching Sarah’s house located on the outer edge of pack territory I smell something out of the ordinary. Glancing over to Nina I can see she smells it too. Looking at me our eyes lock, and we share an unspoken message that we both know this smell. Rogues were here, but it’s only in this area, and as we approach Sarah’s old house the smell gets stronger.  Worry begins to creep its way in as the possibilities flood my head. Stepping ever so slightly closer to Nina as we reach the clearing where the house is. I relax as the silhouette of Gray and Derek come into view outside of the house. Glancing at Nina again she smiles at me innocently.

“We scouted the area, they are long gone. There has been no movement inside the house either, but Nina we smell blood coming from inside.” Derek says as we step onto the porch with them.

“Did you check the windows? Was there any sign of forced entry anywhere, or any windows open to see inside?” Nina asks in response without missing a beat.

“Yes. No sign of forced entry, and all of the curtains are pulled.” Gray speaks up stiffly. A moment of silence follows shortly as we all process what that could mean. He knew whoever was here. After a short pause Nina gives a brief nod signaling she has reached a decision. Turning to face the door she takes a deep breath before knocking. She knocks with authority before using her alpha command.

“Trey. This is Alpha Nina open the door.” When she is greeted with silence she looks to Derek ande Gray who both run to the back side of the house. Pausing for a moment longer I gently place my hand on her shoulder. I know she could kick the door in if she wanted, but she doesn’t have to with me here. Her eyes meet mine, and I gently nudge her shoulder back gesturing with my head at the door. Giving a brief nod she takes a step back as a small smile tugs at the corner of her delicate mouth. Giving her a smile of thank you for trusting me I step forward. Angling my body I prepare for a kick right next to the doorknob. Putting a decent amount of strength into my hip I send my food through the door. I hear a loud crack as the doorframe breaks wood splintering everywhere. Stepping back I let Nina enter the house first. Holding out my hand I help her step over the wood on the floor. She glances at me with a smile as she takes my hand, and crosses the floor. We instantly smell blood, some old, some fresh. Taking a deep breath I concluded the old blood was Sarah’s, but the fresh blood smelled like her mate. The smell of rogues was heavy in the air as we made our way through the house following the trails of blood. Approaching the bedroom Derek and Grey meet us, and we all make a slow approach being cautious of anyone who might still be here.Turning the corner we are met with a bloody mess, and in the middle Trey lies there lifeless. I hear Nina sigh next to me, and I look in her direction wondering how she is handling this. Taking note she looks more annoyed than anything I ask- “Why do you look annoyed?” Sighing again she faces me with a pout.

“He got off easy,” and with that she turned on her heel and walked out no doubt mind linking Grey and Derek to have the mess cleaned. I look at them both helplessly, Derek gives me a shrug before stalking out of the door. Grey is the one who answers my unasked question.

“Her wrath can be just as vast as her kindness,” he says, patting my shoulder before walking out the door himself. I look back at the shredded body that was once Trey and shutter.

“Mate is feisty, that's good, because you are soft.” I roll my eyes at my wolf’s jab about me being too soft turning on my heel to leave. Exiting the house I find Nina is the only one there. Her back is to me, and she is on the phone with someone.

“Okay we will see y’all soon, I love you both. Be safe” She ends the call with a sigh, and I see her shoulders sag. Approaching I wrap my arms around her waist, and place my chin on her shoulder taking in a big breath of her scent. I feel her relax and lean back into me. “My parents will be back tomorrow, and I don’t want them to think I can’t keep the pack safe by letting rogues into the territory. SWe have to figure out how they got in, and why the only targeted him, not that I'm complaining, he deserved what they gave him and then some, but that could have been anyone. I have Derek and Grey looking into who it could have been, and how they got past patrol. We need to get a room set up in the pack house for Sarah. Will you do that for me while I go visit her in the hospital?” Kissing her temple gently I whisper in her ear-

“Of course I will, my love. I would do anything for my little goddess, do you already have a room in mind I should prepare?” I ask, already knowing she did.

“Make it Grey’s old room. Since he moved in with Derek it's empty, and I want her close.” Smiling, I kiss her temple again.

“Your wish is my command, my alpha” I say as I release her waist, and begin to walk back to the pack house.
