I knew I had a long way to go with Sarah. I had no clue what her life was like before, but if it was anything like it is now, both my parents and I had failed her, as her family, and her alpha’s. Determined to make up for our shortcomings I made my way into her hospital room. Finding her sleeping I decided not to disturb her, so I went to find her nurse. 

I found the nurse at her desk typing away on her computer. “Excuse me, I’m sorry, but do you know when Sarah will be able to go home?” I asked while her back was turned to me. She turned in her chair with a start.

“Oh! Alpha, i’m so sorry, but I am actually working on her discharge papers right now, I was going to contact you as soon as I finished. I’m so sorry for not greeting you properly!” She rushed out standing up from her chair looking flustered. 

I smiled at her gently, “you’re okay, doing your job quite well, and I appreciate your hard work to help my family. As for her lodging I am arranging for her to stay at the pack house with me, I fear I have much to do for her with all she has been through.” With a deep sigh I decided I should go let Sarah know about everything that has happened. “I will take my leave, I have much to talk about with her before we go home.” With that said I turned on my heel to go back into the room when an unsteady voice caught my attention.Turning back around briefly I see the nurse bent forward in a bow.

“E-excuse me, alpha, but Thank you so much for your praise, it means the world to me, and I will be in momentarily with the paperwork.” Smiling to myself I continue into the room to find Sarah awake, and looking at the door curiously. 

“I hear I will be living with you now?” She questions from the bed with a sad smile. Approaching swiftly I grab her hand.

“Only if you want to, I know how much you have been through on your own, and I want to help you, and with the baby-” I say gesturing to her still flat stomach. “I want you close, so I can be there for you, but only if you want my support. If so I promise to give you everything you SHOULD have had growing up, I’m so so sorry for not knowing sooner, and I can’t make up for the past.” A tear slips down my cheek as I begin to lose composure, I sniffle in preparing to finish. “I promise to be here for you now, and help you in any way I can. If you’ll let me, that is.” I finish with a tearful chuckle.” Sarah has tears streaming down her face as she looks at me.

Breathing in a shaky breath “What happened to Trey?” Looking down I prepare to tell her what she probably already felt through the mate bond.

“When we went to arrest him we found him dead. It seems some rogues got past the border, and for some reason targeted him only.” I see her eyes widen as her whole body tenses up. Huge sobs begin to rake through her body. I lean forward to hug her. “I’m so sorry I didn’t get to him in time.” A tearful chuckle begins low, and turns into laughter. Startled I pull away to check on her. 

“You think i’m sad? These are tears of joy, the last monster in my life is gone, and I can be free. He was supposed to be my dad, my mom, and then my mate. I’m so tired of being used. If you will have me I would love to move into the pack house, because I’m not going back to my mother, and I definitely don’t want another mate. Can you just do me one favor?” she asks placing her hand on my cheek.

“Anything” I say in ernest.

“Could you promise to help me raise this baby, and-and if anything happens to me-” I pull her into a tight hug before she can finish.

“Of course, I would be happy to help, but I don't intend to let you go so soon cousin, you’re stuck with me for a while.” we both laugh at that still in a tight embrace. Two knocks at the door startles us apart as the nurse enters with a smile. When she sees our teare filled faces her smile falls. 

“I am so sorry, I can come back in a bit.” Before she can leave we both start laughing. Startled she stands there confused when I stand up, and approach reaching for the discharge papers. 

“You’re perfectly okay, we were just finished. Is this all she needs?” I ask, and the startled nurse nods quickly. 

“Yes alpha, it is recommended she takes it easy for a couple weeks, no lifting heavy objects, not too much strain, try to limit the walking, and make sure her diet is well rounded. I have included a menu she should follow for her pregnancy, and she has her first official appointment with an OBGYN in a week, other than that you are free to leave.” She said with a smile looking at Sarah.I process everything she said, and a sly smile appeared on my face. Without noticing the nurse turned and left us alone. 

Sarah sitting on the bed noticed the look on my face. “What?” she asked seemingly a little nervous. I just shook my head and gave her my hand to help her out of bed. Going slowly with her I helped her walk out of the hospital, and since it was still on pack lands I had walked here, but since the nurse had said Sarah shouldn’t walk much I figured I would carry her. As the sun hit her face she squinted in the bright light. I took note of how pale she was still, and decided that was enough walking for her for now. Shifting my hand from her hand to her shoulder she looked over at me with a questioning look before I bent down and picked her up by her knees carrying her bridal style. 

A gasp left her as she realized what was happening before her face turned pink with blush, but due to her weakened state even the pink of her blush was pale. Smiling to myself I begin to walk. “You planned this,” she says narrowing her eyes at me eliciting a laugh from me.

“Not exactly, but when she said to limit your walking this was in fact my plan.” I laugh again as she scowls at me.

“You know if I wasn’t so tired I’d never let you do this.” She says as if she has won something.

“You know if you weren’t so tired and hurt right now i’d never do this.” I say with a laugh. Realizing its the truth Sarah begins to sulk. “It’s not far, and once we get closer i’ll let you walk if you would feel up to it.” Looking down at her I notice she is looking down with her head hung low.

“Thank you Nina,” she whispers and I hear how broken she is on the inside, and my anger spikes again wanting revenge for all that she has been through, and praying that when she is ready she can find happiness again with, or without a mate. The rest of the walk is taken in silence, until we approach the pack house. When we are a few yards out Sarah requests I put her down so she can walk a bit more on her own. Setting her down I notice a few figures coming into view at the front of the pack house. Five people stand in a circle at the doors of the pack house seemingly deep in conversation. When we get close enough to see them I realize its my parents, Grey, Darek, and Raff. Still helping Sarah walk though we keep up our slow pace until the wind picks up and carries our scent to them. Raff is the first to turn around and notice us. From the distance I see his smile, he is happy Sarah chose to come stay with us too. My parents notice he turned around, and is staring at something, so they disengage themselves from their conversation with Grey and Derek to look. When they see us, or more likely Sarah I see my father’s body go tense with anger, and my mother’s face clouds with unshed tears. Derek and Grey being the last to turn around see how slowly we are walking, and come to meet us halfway. Probably more than halfway on their end seeing how slow we were walking. They all practically ran to us, and stopped just in front of us. My mom immediately went to Sarah taking her other hand, and helping us the rest of the way to the house. With the two of us helping, progress was a little faster, but not much. As we walk I explain everything the Doctor had said about her recovery, and about how I had Raff prepare Grey’s old room for her to stay in.

“Sarah, I’m so sorry we never knew, but I hope you feel at home here with us, and if you ever need anything Just ask, we will be happy to help.” My mom tells her in ernest. Making it to the pack house we walk up the stairs slowly with Sarah almost slipping on the third step. Raff catches her from behind helping to steady her. I send him a grateful smile entering the house. Making it to the stairs on the inside I see Sarah is already sweating, and breathing hard. Before I have a chance to pick her up Raff comes from behind picking her up for me. Sending me a quick wink he begins up the stairs with a barely conscious Sarah. I look at my mom, and we decided to head to my office to talk, as we had many things to discuss. Alighting the stairs we exchange pleasantries.i

“How was ya’ll’s vacation?” I ask both of them.

“More importantly, how are things here?” My dad asks With a heavy sigh I push open my office door, and gesture us all to the couches.

“Well the issue with Sarah led both Raff and I to have some…interesting dreams.” My parents exchange a look before looking back at me. 

“Strange how?” My mom asks with an edge of caution to her voice. I feel Raff shift uncomfortably next to me. I see my dad’s eyes cut to him.

“Why is it you BOTH had the dream, and what is happening?” My dad asks pointing between Raff and I. I feel him stiffen beside me instantly.

“Uh, well we are mates-”

“Oh! I’m so happy ya’ll have finally found each other! I have been waiting for you to find each other!” MY mom says as she lunges for us. The next second i’m being crushed beneath my mother. Giggling and hugging her back I relax having gotten that part off my chest. After a moment I patted her signaling for her to release us both. Sitting back in her seat, and letting out a big sigh I saw the smile adorning her face. My dad looks at her giving her a ruthful smile before grabbing her hand, and giving it a squeeze. 

“Well, then we might be able to shed a light on these strange dreams, but first I need you both to tell me what happened in them.” Taking turners giving our accounts of what happened when we spoke to the moon goddess my parents listened intently glancing at one another every so often. “It seems it’s happening then.” my dad begins “ As you are both aware it’s been 500 years since anyone has seen a white wolf like Valerie, or a black wolf like Neil, but what you don’t know is the real reason why. We knew when you were a kid, and you first shifted this day would come, but we had hoped to get you ready before. I’m happy to see at least you might not be as unprepared as you could have been. It starts with the moon goddess falling in love with a human man. The sun god got jealous, because he loved the moon, so he came to earth to start trouble. The moon goddess in an attempt to save the man she loved tied his soul to a wolf, not unlike her white one. When he transformed he grew into a huge black wolf, and together with the moon goddess’s white one they fought the sun god, but her love was fatally wounded. To save the wolf and her love she tied their souls together forever creating the first werewolf. Knowing that she wouldn’t be able to stay with him any longer she split herself, allowing half of her power, and who she is to stay with him, while the other went back to her world. The black and white wolves ruled over all werewolves for centuries having one born in each generation. Until 500 years ago when they were murdered. Some say the moon goddess was so enraged with us for killing something so precious to her she refused to give us our leaders, others say they would come again when we needed them. Not everyone will be happy to know they are back, and that is why we have kept you hidden. Since you have found each other now those that don’t wish to see your return will find you. We must prepare for war.”
