Chapter 13: Karma POV:
I am happy to know we leave at three on Fridays. Leaving at three gives me enough time to go to Aunt Jackie to get ready for L. However, leaving the country on some weekends may be a problem. I will just have to talk to L about it when the time comes. Crossing the bridge when I got there seemed like a bad plan, but it was the only option I had. I can't let one job effect my preformance at another job.
Mr. Logi seems to be a man that thinks of everything. He has a full bathroom and a full bedroom. He does have a point about winter in New Jersey. It can be more brutal than winters in Pennsylvania. And also, it is dangerous to dive in, staying at work is the better option. But I do find it weird that he would offer for me to stay here if the weather is to bad.
The real shock came when he opened my office door. There are boxes with files everywhere. He did say he travels to his other companies. But damn, there are a lot of boxes in here. As I look around, I see boxes labeled travel bills, employees, companies, and miscellaneous. I wonder how long have he been since he had a administrative assistant of any kind. I got my work cut out for me, I can see that already. I took a deep breath and put my stuff up, then went to see Mr. Logi.
“Mr. Logi I am ready for tour”, I said with a smile.
“Great, well, this floor is mine, well ours. There is no one but you and I on this floor. Sometimes my cousin Jake will come in and mess with me, but he is harmless. You might meet him later today. He is the one who labeled all the boxes. He figured that it would be easier for you, so you know what is in the boxes.”, he said to me as we walked to the elevator.
“Does Jake have a filling system in place that you would like me to follow?”, I asked, hoping they had to come up with a new filling system a lot of work today.
“No, he does not. So, however, if you want to do the job, by all means, do so”, he said with a smile, and I got a little wet.
Damn, I know I have seen that smile before. We started in the basement. He showed me the storage department in the basement and introduced me to the stock guy, Peter. Then he showed me the other side of the basement, which was a fully stocked gym with a shower and changing room. The next level is the main floor where the receptionist is.
Down the hall past the elevator is a café or should I say restaurant. I am surprised this place looks like a five-star restaurant. There are waiters and waitresses serving people. There is also a full bat well damn they allow employees to drink alcohol.
“This restaurant was Jake's idea. He said happy employees work harder and their food should be of top quality, not the school cafeteria stuff most companies supply their employees”, he said. I caught him looking at me with wonder in his eyes.
“You allow employees to drink alcohol at work?”, I asked, hoping to cut some of the awkwardness.
“Yeah, working here can be stressful, so I do allow it. However, there is a two-alcoholic drink maximum on the clock”, he said and showed me around the restaurant.
“How do you know who is on the clock and who is not?”, I asked. I might be getting a little noisy.
“Each employee ID card acts as a charge card for the restaurant. Yours will be waiting for you when we are done with the tour. The restaurant closes when the building closes”, he said, and we continued to walk.
“What time does the building close?”, I asked.
“When the last person leaves”, he said as we walked to another department.
“Here is the security office. They do not leave until everyone is gone. Each security officer is armed and walks every floor to make sure it is empty before they lock up”, Mr. Logi said.
I was introduced to the six security officers whose men were James, Jon, Paul, Jack, Mitch, and Bliss. I looked at myself like they had added hungry lions and I was their prey. Mr. Logi showed me the finance, marketing, human resources, legal, and call center departments. He also showed me the restrooms on all of the floors. I know I caught him a couple of times staring at my ass. I can't shake the feeling that I know him from somewhere. When we made it back to the top floor, my badge was hanging on the office door knob.
“Why was the badge left on the doorknob?”, I asked him.
“Because when the door is closed no one is allowed in unless I tell them they can come in. You do not have to worry about that we share an office, so you are free to come and go as you choose. I only ask that when you leave and I am not here, please close the door”, Mr. Logi said they opened the office door for me.
"Will there ever be a time I am not allowed in the office?", I had to ask.
"I don't think so. The only other person that has full access to my office is my cousin Jake", he said.
"Okay, so just you, Jake, and I can walk in whenever", I repeated. Something tells me that is more important than anything he told me.
"Oh, and my mother. But she rarely comes here. If she does trust me, it isn't anything good", he said with a slight laugh.
"So, do you require me to bring you lunch or coffee?", I asked.
"Only if you are okay with it. Sometimes I am too busy to eat and don't even notice it. If you notice, please feel free to bring me a snack or something", he said, smiling. Damn, he is sexy as hell.
