Chapter 61: Lance POV

**“I want to be the one you let in.”-Michael Harris.**

“So, you and Karma look like a lovely couple out there”, Dell said.
“Now Dell. Karma is a soft topic for Lance", Jake said, caressing Dell's arm.
“In other words, he does not want to make a move on her. Or come to terms that he likes her”, Dell said.
“Yup”, Jake said, running his nose on Dell's shoulder. Damn, I have never seen Jake act like this with anyone.
“It's not like she is an employee. The company has a non-fraternization contract.
“Among other contracts you have”, Jake said.
“I see the way both of you look at her. I saw it in the store today. And fire her if you need to”, Dell said, looking at Jake.
“What Karma is sexy as hell. Of course, I looked at her. Dell, you said yourself you would fuck her if you weren’t fully gay”, Jake said, and I just shook my head.
“My advice is to shoot your shot. She likes you as well. But none of you will know how good you can be together unless you take the chance”, Dell said.
“It is not that easy for him babe. He has other issues stopping him”, Jake said, and I am surprised he used the word babe.
“Whatever I am going to the bathroom”, Dell said, then walked away.
“You and Dell seem to be getting close”, I said, raising an eyebrow.
“He is a good person”, Jake said.
“I have never heard you or anyone babe before”, I said.

Jake explained that Dell is a no-bullshit kind of guy. He told Jake his whole life story via video chat. Jake said that Dell did not want to waste time. He told Jake what he wanted, and what he didn’t want. Jake was so impressed by his bluntness he agreed to whatever Dell offered. Which is courtship.

“So, are you going to do this courtship thing with him?”, I asked.
“Yup”, Jake said with a proud smile.
“Jake, if what you said is true about Dell, he has been hurt and he is a nice guy. So dont hurt him”, I said.
“I won't hurt him. I feel good with him. Let's just say the way you feel around Karma is the way I feel about Dell”, Jake said.
“So, you are going to have your apartment cleaned?’, I asked.
“I have a cleaning crew coming first thing in the morning”, Jake said with a smile.
“Shit, I need to work out more. I am out of shape”, Dell said, painting out of breath.
“Did you run here?’, Jake asked.
“Yes, I was coming out of the bathroom and I heard Karma yelling at someone. She must be on the phone with someone”, Dell said, and that alerted me.

I got up and ran to the bathroom. It is a good thing that this section is private. When I walk into the room, Karma is so engrossed in yelling at someone. I wasted no time. I grabbed her phone. Hearing his voice made me hot. Why can't he just leave her alone? We had words, then I hung up on him.

“Are you okay?", I asked.
“I do not know why he won't leave me the hell alone?”, he said, crying on my chest.
“Don't, baby. Don’t give him any more of your tears”, I said, trying to calm her.

I walked Karma back to our section and then sat her on my lap. Jake and Dell asked what happened. I let Karma tell them since I came to the end of the conversation. This Mike guy is a problem. I have half a mind to send some men to his house and beat his ass. I shoot my investigator a text telling him to find where Mike is now living. He needed his ass whopped. He said the one who left her was not the other way around. The music got slower again. The starting melody seemed to make Dell happy.

“Swaying room as the music starts. Strangers make the most of the dark. Two by two, their bodies become one”, Dell sang and winked at Jake.
“I see you through the smokey air. Can't you feel the weight of my stare? You're so close but still a world away. What I'm dying to say is that”, Jake started to sing. I looked at him confused. Then he nodded his head.
“I'm crazy for you. Touch me once and you'll know it's true. I never wanted anyone like this. It's all brand new. You'll feel it in my kiss. I'm crazy for you, crazy for you”, I looked at Karma and sang to her.

Dell got up and pulled Jake with him to dance as he kept singing. I lifted Karma and up and got up myself to dance. I am willing to do anything to make her happy. A huge smile showed up on her face. I noticed she likes to sing and dance.

“Come on baby don’t leave us hanging", I said, smirking at her. Karma has a beautiful voice.
“Slowly now we begin to move. With every breath, I'm deeper into you. Soon we two are standing still in time. If you read my mind, you'll see”, Karma said as we swayed to the music.

Right now, I am happy. Karma is in my arms. It seemed as if all of our cares were left at the moment. We started dancing. I am seriously thinking about canceling my contract with the temp agency and dating Karma. My only problem is that I can't date her openly because of my forced engagement. And there is the contract I have with Kay. That I do not want to let go due to obvious reasons.

“You have a nice voice, Lance”, she said.
“You know Karma, this song has some truth to it”, I said to her, holding her close.
“That is clear looking at Jake and Dell”, she said with a smile.
“I am not talking about them, I am talking about you and I”, I said, and her eyes went wide.
“Lance, I like you, I really do. But you and I both have people in our lives that we can't cheat on", she said, looking away from me.
“I know I am just telling you how I feel. No pressure, no hard feelings, okay”, I said as I lifted her chin so she was looking at me.
“Noted and for the record, I feel the same way”, she said and I smiled.

We continued to dance until the some went off. I glanced over to Jake and Dell and they were smiling at us, making Karma blush. We sit and drink more. Well, more like downing shot after shot. The Karma she was when I could go to the club is back and full of fun. The night went on with laughter, drinking, and eating. By the time the club closed, we were all shit-faced.

Me, Karma, Jake, and Dell all get into the car that they took here. As for my car, I called one of my security guards to come get it. I left the key with the club manager. He won't leave until someone comes and gets the car. Karma is sitting on my lap and Dell is sitting on Jake. Both fought the urge to doze off.
