Chapter 14: Lance POV:

I could not keep my eyes off her. The urge to ask her about her name is strong. But looking at her, I think I know her from somewhere. I just can't put my finger on it. My printer starts printing once we go into the office. Shit, I was so lost in her that I forgot to tell her about the contract I needed her to sign. I grabbed them from the printer and then called her over.

“Karma, if you agree to work here, I will need you to sign these contracts”, I said, and she looked at me confused.

“Contracts?", she asked.

“Yes, one is a non-disclosure agreement and the other is a no-fraternization policy”, I said to her. She looked so poised sitting in a huge leather chair.

“Okay”, she said as I handed her the contracts.

I watched her as she read and signed each one. All of my companies' employees and temps have to sign these contracts. I came up with the idea when I found out that my dad was fucking multiple women that worked for him. His affairs coming to life destroyed my mother. She could not go anywhere without hearing whispers and giggles. Even worse, at company gatherings, she had to worry if he had sex with any of the women in attendance.

The worst came when my father ended all of his affairs because my mother threatened to divorce him and take everything from him. However, those women came together and sued him for sexual harassment. To keep the lawsuits out of the papers, my father settled out of court for over fifty million dollars. He paid all of the money out of his pocket because he did not have the payments to come from the company to keep his reputation with the shareholders and board members.

My mother wanted to divorce him, but after he paid the settlement and legal fees, my father was almost bankrupt. And unfortunately, she would not have gotten a dime. To keep from going bankrupt, he borrowed money from his best friend. In return, my father promised me to be the daughter of his best friend. After his scandal, I slowly took over his business and made sure these two contracts every person under my hire signed.

“Here you go, may I have a copy?”, she asked, handing me the signed contracts.

“Sure come, I will show you how to use the copier. You have a printer in your office with a copying capability but there is a printer used to print larger quality papers”, I said as I showed her the larger printer in the closet. Karma watched closely as I showed her how to use it.

“Thank you, Mr. Logi,”, Karma said as I handed her the copies.
“Before I forget, I need you to fill the travel boxes first. When you are finished, people let me know”, I said, then she walked into her office.

I made sure to leave the travel boxes where she could reach them. The finance department wants them as soon as possible. After a while, for some reason, I could not concentrate. I sent Kay a text even though I know she does not have her phone yet. E-mails, e-mails, and more e-mails I looked at the time and it was already lunchtime. Thank goodness time is going fast. I walked towards Karma's office. I smile as I hear her sing.

“Chasing you like a shot of whisky, burning going down, burning going down”, Karma sings, moving her hips. She is so into filing, singing, and dancing she does not notice me in the office.

“Karma”, I said as I touched her shoulder.

“Shit, oh I am sorry Mr. Logi you scared me”, she said, holding her chest.

“My apologies, Karma. I did not mean to scare you. I just came to tell you it is lunchtime”, I said, smiling at her.

"Already? This day seems to be going fast", she said, smiling.

I watched her as she moved around the room. Wow, this woman moves with stealth like a cat. She has a lot of grace with a hint of sexuality in her steps. I have never looked at an employee like this. But technically, she is not an employee. Maybe I am more of my father's son than I realized.

"Do you have a menu I can look at on the way there? I don't want to waste time looking at the menu once at the cafe", she said.

"There is no rush. You can take all the time you need", I said.

"Are you sure?", she asked.

"Yes, I am the boss here, aren't I? And besides, it is good to take your time and look at the menu", I said.

"Is that so", she said, smiling. Oh, that smile. I can tell it has made many men weak in the knees.

"Yeah, word around the cubicle people are judged by what they order for lunch", I said.

"So this is that kind of company?", she asked, smiling some more.

"Kind of company?", I asked.

"Yeah, the kind that puts people in a category by what they eat", she said.

"I have no idea what you are talking about", I said, confused.

"For example. There is always a group of women that eat salads. They are the mean girls of the company. Oh, and there is the guy or guys who order the same thing every day. Because he doesn't want to eat something that will mess up his stomach", she said, causing me to laugh.

"I see you have it all figured out", I said.

"Yup. When we get down there pay attention and you will see", she said, smiling at me. I like her smirking at me. I want her to smile at me for the rest of the day. If she is right I am going to crack up. Because she just describes something that people see in high school movies.
