Chapter 36: Karma POV

The universe knows I do not want to have this dinner with Mike. But if this is what I have to do to get him out of my life forever, then I will do it. I do not need Mike popping up and messing up my life. When I got to the restaurant, he was already there waiting for me. Damn, I was trying to get her before him so I could hear what he got to say had then bounced.
We made small talk and ordered food. I noticed the waitress was trying to push her flat-ass chest in his face. Shit like that is disrespectful, even though I am not his woman, I could be hell. She does not know who I am. And yet she is still trying to get his attention. At this point, I need him to get to the point so I can go home and take this anal trainer out of me.
“I married Sasha”, he said hesitantly.
“Who is Sasha?”, I asked. He said her name like I am supposed to know who she is. I do not recall ever meeting Sasha.
“The girl I cheated on you with”, he said, and honestly I wanted to throw every drink into the place in his face. The nerve of him to tell me some shit like that. It is bad enough. I caught them fucking in my house. But to marry her like really
“Of course you did. And how did that work out for you?”, I said with a fake smile. At this point
“Not good, but let's not talk about that. Let's talk about us”, she said, smiling. I want to knock that smile off his face.
“There is no one. You know why I accepted your apology. I should leave.
“No Karma, please do not go, let's talk”, he said, pleading.
Our food came and Jane, the disrespectful bitch, came back with our food. As I started to eat, Mike told me how sorry he was and that he wanted another chance. I didn't respond. I just ate. This man hurt me to my soul. I can give him another chance. I meant it when I said I accepted his apology. I really did. But I have got good shit going on in my life, my job, and L. My L phone goes off.
“Please excuse me, Mike, it's work. I have to take this”, I said as I walked to the bathroom.
L: How was your day with the anal trainer?
Me: Good, no problems with it.
L: How did you feel when you took it out?
Me: I have not taken it out yet.
L: So you like having it with you?
Me: No, I just have not made it home yet.
L: Working late for me too.
Me: No I am out.
L: Having fun?
Me: No, not at all.
L: Where are you?
Me: Before I tell you, just know that I am not breaking our contract, okay?
L: Okay, now answer the question.
Me: Remember the guy who kept texting me?
L: Yes
Me: I am with him. Well, I am kind of having dinner with him.
L: Why are you having dinner with him? I thought you wanted nothing to do with him.
Me: Closure
L: Well, I hope you get it. And leave him in the dust.
Me: Will do.
L: When you get home, take a picture of the anal trainer on you before you take it out.
Me: I will thank you for being understanding.
L: As long as you do not break the terms of the contract, I have no problems.
“Is everything okay with work?’, Mike asked.
“Yeah, my boss wanted to remind me about a contract we signed”, I said.
“Well, like I was saying. Karm, I am very sorry and I want you back. I think we can make it work this time”, he said, looking at me for an answer.
“Mike, I can't do that. I have a life that you can not be a part of. Like I said, I accept your apology, but as for you and I, we are over”, I said, looking at him straight in the eyes.
“Come on Karm, it's not like you have someone, Karm. You are single and so am I", he said.
“What makes you think I am single?”, I asked with an attitude.
“Karm, you and I both know you are single”, he said with a smile.
“Actually, I am not. I am dating someone and it is getting serious”, I said with confidence.
“Oh, really what is his name?”, Mike asked, calling my bluff.
"His name is L and we're getting pretty serious, so yeah", I said as I looked him in the eyes.
"L huh, that's a random name?", he said, smirking.
"Well, tell me more about this L you're seeing", he said, still thinking he could call my bluff.
"Why?", I asked.
"Just humor me. I need to know who my competition is", he said.
"It's not a competition. What do you wanna know?", I asked.
"How old is he? What does he do for a living? Has ever been married", Mike asked.
"That's a lot of information to want about someone you don't know. And who doesn't know you", I said, rolling my eyes at him.
"Just curious about who stole your heart from me", he said. Yeah, he is dreaming if he thinks he has a chance with me.
"No one stole my heart from you. You gave it away, remember?", I said, forcing a smile.
"I did and I'm here to claim it back. Like I said before, Karma, I'm sorry", he said, giving me puppy eyes.
"That's one thing we can agree on, that you're sorry. But anyway, like I said, I accept your apology. Thanks for dinner. Have a nice life”, I said as I got up to leave.
I tried to walk out of the restaurant as fast as I could. I know I had some time because he had to pay for the dinner. But a part of me knew that he would just come after me, regardless if he paid for the food or not. And I kind of figured that Jane would make a scene of some shit. As I get further away from Mike, I get excited when I see Lance and Jake.
“Hey Karma, what's up “, Jake said.
“Just play along please guys, I really need your help here", I said, pleading in a whisper.
“What is that asshole bothering you?”, Lance asked, ready to pounce. I turned back and saw Mike getting closer.
"No, but I need to just go along with what I say, OK”, I said to Lance.
“Karma wait?", Mike said. Running through the restaurant door.
“Oh, sorry Mike, I have to go”, I said as Lance grabbed my hand.
“Who the hell are these guys?”, Mike asked, pissed off.
“Hello, my name is Lance and I am Karma's boyfriend", Lance said with a fake smile.
"No, you are not. A like you would never go for a girl like Karma", Mike said, and I wanted to punch him.
"Whoa, dude. That was highly disrespectful and rude”, Jake said.
“And what is wrong with Karma? She's smart, hard-working, and beautiful”, Lance said, and I smiled at him.
“Dude, you are wearing an Armani suit. Not even the Armani suit from last year. The suit you have on came out two weeks ago. Rich dudes like you don't go for chubby girls like her”, Mike said, and Lance gripped my hand harder. I look pissed off.
“Karma, I don't know what this dude told you, but he's probably just using you. Men like him don't go for girls like you", Mike said.
“Goodbye, Mike. It was a pleasure seeing you again. I hope you find what you're looking for out there. I said to him. Hoping he catches the hint.
“Karma, he's just using you. It might last a month, maybe two, but after that, you'll find some on the cover of some Gossip magazine next to a skinny blonde with a huge rock on her ring finger, and then your heart will be broken”, Mike said.
“Sir, I don't know who the hell you are, but you don't know anything about me. I would never hurt Karma in that way. Like she said goodnight. It was nice meeting you”, Lance said. Then they asked me for my car keys.
I gave him my car keys and he gave them to Jake. Jake drove my car while Lance drove me back to the office. The ride back to the office was short and quiet. Lansing seems to be more set than I am at this point. I got a feeling if he wasn't so rich, he probably would have punched him in his face. I wonder what they will even be doing in the first place. Don't get me wrong. I'm glad that they were there. Lance said nothing as we pulled up to the building. He got out and then opened my door to let me out. I walked to my car to get my keys in the car from Jake to go home, but Lance stopped me.
“Karma, can I speak to you for a minute inside, please? Do not worry about anything. Jake will stay out here to make sure you are not followed”, Lance said, following him into the building.
“Are you okay? Did he hurt you?”, Lance asked.
“I am so sorry you had to get involved in my drama”, I said, ashamed.
“It's not a problem, please tell me what happened?”, he asked, grabbing the receptionist's chair so I could sit.
I reluctantly told him about the dinner. I saw how Mike started off or apologized and he was sorry. Then he went out to tell him how he married the person. He cheated on me and now they're divorced and he wants to grace himself and so my life again. I told him how Mike said he wanted to start over. He wanted us to be together and I kept telling him there was no way we could be together. I explained to Lance that when I got to the point where he wasn't listening, I left and that's when I bumped into him and Jake.
