Chapter Thirteen
Candy walked behind Annie, her eyes glued to her round ass. She bit her lip. She still hadn’t talked to her mother about what might happen to Annie and the twins. Well triplets, if she claimed her mate.
She knew her mate was still reeling with the fact that she wasn’t carrying two babies, but three. Annie walked unseeing and Candy sped up, placing her hand on Annie’s lower back to guide her towards her room. She pulled the door open and Annie stepped into the room and moved to sit on the bed.
“There’s three of them…”
“You okay?”
“There are three of them.” Annie said, her eyes still glued to the blurry black and white image.
“There are, I was wondering if you might want to take a drive with me?” Candy asked as she nervously clasped her hands together.
“Yes, but there are three of them.” Annie said, dropping her hands to her lap and looking up at Candy.
“So you don’t want to go on a date with me?” Candy asked, looking down at her hands.
“What, no. I mean, yes, I want to go on a date with you. Are you sure you want to get involved with me? I mean there are three possibly shifter babies growing inside of me.”
“You do?” Candy said, moving to sit beside Annie. She took her hand in both of hers. “It wouldn’t matter how many babies are growing in you, they’re part of you. How could I not love something that’s a part of you?”
“Candy-” Annie breathed out, feeling her breath catch in her throat.
“Those are our babies Annie, I alway thought that when I had kids, it would be different. I just didn’t know it would be like this. I’m so glad that I get to be a part of this with you. I know it’s sudden, but I want to spend the rest of my life showing you how special you and the babies are to me.” Candy confessed and Annie felt the butterflies in her stomach start to flutter to life.
She knew it wasn’t the babies, okay well that kick was. But those flutters, that was all for her mate’s words.
Annie pulled her hand from Annie’s and placed her hand on Candy’s knee, leaning forward to place her lips against Candy’s.
Candy let out a sigh as she moved her lips softly against Annie’s. Her heart beat faster and she brought her hands up to cup her cheeks. Her thumb’s brushing over Annie’s high cheekbones. She pulled away, resting her forehead against her mates. “So the date.”
“It’s a yes.” Annie said as she leaned closer and pressed her lips against Candy’s.
“Good, I’m going to steal Dev’s keys and I’ll be right back.” Candy smiled at Annie as she moved to stand.
“How much time do I have to get ready?” Annie asked.
Candy stopped her hand on the door, her heart racing at the fact that her mate wanted to get herself ready for their date. “Does an hour sound good?”
“Perfect.” Annie whispered, “I need to go find Abby.”
“Okay,” Candy said, followed by a long pause. “She’s with Eli.”
“Wait, how did you, are they?” Annie said, wrinkling her nose at the thought of her sister and her mate being intimate.
“Eli is an alpha in his own right, I have a mind link with him just like I have one with Drake. As to what they’re doing, Eli’s at practice.” Candy answered.
“Practice?” Annie asked as she moved to follow Candy.
“Yeah, he’s. Well, we are in a band with Dev. I ducked out this morning to go to your appointment.”
Annie’s cheeks heated up with a blush as she felt a warm feeling course through her. Her mate had chosen her over something that was important to her. Candy had made her feel treasured without even meaning to.
“You skipped practice for me.” Annie whispered as she looked down at the floor.
“I did and I’d do it again.” Candy said, her fingers moving to Annie’s chin, so she could meet her eyes. “You’re my mate, my music can wait. Dev and Eli understand.”
“I don’t want to pull you away from the things you need to do.” Annie said, worrying the inside of her cheek with her teeth.
“You’re not, if you’d like you can watch me play sometime.” Candy said, moving her hands to Annie’s stomach, “Music is supposed to be good for babies.”
Annie smiled as she looked at Candy, “I’d like that.”

Dev rolled his eyes as he watched Eli singing to Abby. This was the worst practice ever. Candy had ducked out, so they had no drummer, and Eli was too busy watching his mate to play the guitar and sing at the same time.
He sighed, stopping his playing as he turned to look at Eli.
“Bro, if you can’t get it together your fans are going to see a difference in the way you play and we’ll never get signed.”
“Dev, relax. I can still play up the crowd. Right now the crowd is my mate.” Eli said with a wink at his mate, his smile deepening at the blush that spread across the tops of her cheeks.
Dev let out a growl, “Fine, wish Candy was here. She’d be on my side about this.”
“I kinda doubt that, dude. She’s got her mate now.” Eli said with a smirk.
“What are you guys talking about?” Abby asked from where she sat cross-legged on the couch.
“Dude… You didn’t tell her. She’s your mate.”
“Tell me what?”
“I didn’t think it was my news to share.” Eli said, not answering Abby.
“What news?” Abby asked, tucking her hair behind her ear.
“I’m Candy’s mate.” Annie said as she stepped into the room, Candy holding her hand tightly. Trying to give her as much strength as she could.
Dev moved to the side sitting down his bass. Things were about to get interesting. He couldn’t help but wonder if things would be this entertaining when he found his mate.
