Chapter Fifty-Six
“Sam, can you help me over to my sisters?” Abby asked Sam, batting her long lashes. Candy’s cheeks shook as she tried to hold in her laughter. She closed her eyes, tilting her head back as she regained her composure.
Wrapping her arms around Annie’s waist, Candy rested her hands on Annie’s stomach. She felt the press of a foot or hand against her and she opened her eyes with a grin. She rested her head on Annie’s shoulder when she felt it. The pull of energy that was almost painful.
Stolas let out a sigh of relief, his body relaxing as Annie pulled from Candy.
“Yeah, babe.” Sam said as he moved to Abby’s side. Wrapping his arm around her waist as he helped her hop down from the table. Candy wanted to tell her to stay back, but she couldn’t find the words.
Annie opened her eyes, watching as her sister walked closer, her steps a slow shuffle. She shook her head, pulling her hand away from Amelia. Candy let out a breath as the pull sensation stopped.
She didn’t want to weaken Abby, where she felt bursting with energy from earlier it was clear her twin no triplet did not.
“I think I prefer it when you do it the other way.” Candy said, and Stolas let out a low chuckle.
“Me too, hurts less.”
“I don’t know, you look better when you’re being hurt.” Sin said, his lip quirking up into a half smile.
“Sin,” Sam chided.
“What he means to say is thank you.” Stolas said as he leaned closer to Annie, threading his fingers with Candy’s as he kissed Annie on the cheek.
“What were you doing?” Abby asked, casting worried glances between all of them.
“They’re trying to Amelia heal.” Doc said as she went about the room cleaning up the mess of swabs and stained gauze. “Interesting to watch first hand.”
“Exhausting,” Annie said as she leaned back against Candy, soaking in the feeling of safety and security from her mate.
Louis finally looked up, his eyes moving from her stomach to her face. “You’re with child, you should have said something. Sin should have-”
“She pulled from her demon.” Sin said, resting his hand on the other man’s shoulder. “It didn’t hurt them.”
“Can I help her?” Abby asked as she touched Amelia’s hand.
“No.” Owen said, his voice a low growl.
“Owen,” Abby said, looking back over her shoulder at him.
“Abby, no.”
Abby scowled before closing her eyes. She pressed her lips together, trying to do the same as Annie had. Grabbing Amelia’s hand.
“Babe. I don’t think you can do it.”
Abby’s brows knit together as she grabbed Sam’s hand, trying to force whatever she’d felt earlier back.
“Dammit!” She said, stomping her foot as she opened her eyes. “Annie, how come I can’t do it?”
Annie looked down at her hands, unable to explain the feeling to Abby. How she’d felt the need to go to her, to lay her hands on her. Let the heat spread from her body into their sister’s body. To pull that same energy from her mates, she could feel the small kicks and knew that if she hadn’t pulled from her mates, it would have taken from them.
“I, I don’t,” Annie stumbled over the words. “I don’t know how to explain it. It’s just like my body knew.”
“Well I want to help her, do you think you can do whatever it is with me?”
“Babe-”
“Abby.”
Both Sam and Owen spoke at the same time, but Abby had already leaned over, grabbing Annie’s hand as she tightened her grip on Amelia’s fingers.
“Abby, I don’t think…” Annie said, “Oh, wow.”
“Is that?”
“Yeah.” Annie said, her eyes widening as Amelia let out a gasp. Abby’s fingers tightened over hers as they watched their sister take a deep breath and let out a whimper. Her back arched as the whimper turned into a groan.
The heat moved through Annie, easier than before as she pulled from Abby. She looked up at Abby, hearing Doc move closer to them. For a moment she was worried the older woman would try to break the connection.
“Amazing,” she breathed out and Candy couldn’t help but agree with her. It was amazing as they watched Amelia’s skin heal back to normal. The scattering of freckles, the only thing that marred the skin they could see as she cried out.
She opened her eyes, looking at them. Abby let out a small shriek as she pulled her hands away. Annie stood unmoving as she took in the deep red color of her sister’s eyes. Those eyes weren’t human, she wasn’t sure what they were.
“Marcus?” Amelia cried out as she tried to push up off the bed. Louis let out a sob as he stood up wrapping his arms around her, burying his face into the crook of her neck.
Sin brought her hand up to his lips, kissing her knuckles as he blinked rapidly.
“Where is he?” She asked, her voice low as if the words hurt.
“Amelia, Marcus is with Vega.” Louis said. His words were a choked out gasp. Annie could feel the pain of them as she took a half step away. She didn’t know if they should stay here or give them time alone.
“We have to get him back.” Amelia’s words were muffled against Louis’ chest as he held her tighter. His other hand stroking her hair.
“We will, my fire walker.”
Amelia ran her hand up Louis’ back, tapping him slightly. He pulled back, sitting on the bed. His hand clasping hers as if he were afraid that she would disappear.
“How, how can we get him back from the elders?” she asked as tears started to form in her eyes.
“We’ll help you.” Abby said, stepping closer as Sam let out a long sigh. She glanced at Annie, her lips tilting upwards, “Right?”
“Yeah, we will.” Annie nodded her head, worrying her lip. She didn’t know what they were signing up for, but she knew that they had to help Amelia.
