Chapter 28

Sara's POV
"SARA!" Mark yelled at me.
"Mom!" She whispered with shock in her eyes.
"I....I...am responsible for his....death? No..I...dad?" She looked at Mark for help.
"Sara what are you doing" Mark was not able to believe. I mindlinked him.
'Please let me do what I am doing.'
"Didn't you tell me he died saving you" I told her coldly.
"Please leave and never show your face again."
"Mom please don't say this, you both are my only family. I lost everyone."
"Alpha, take your mate from here." I told her mate. He kept supporting her without saying a single word.
"Lets go Luna"
"I need to...take my stuff.." she mumbled
"You are not taking anything from here." I know she wanted Victor's shirt and photograph.
She kept crying and looking at both of us, David took her to the car and they went away. Her pleading eyes were still focused on us.
"Why you behaved so harshly all of sudden" Mark asked.
"I had to do it. Old connections should be broken to start new ones. If we kept supporting her, then she will never lean on her mate."
He nodded knowingly and hugged me. Both of us crying silently. We will miss her.

David's POV
I could not believe what I was hearing, I just could not believe what Mrs Kentucky was telling Mia. She had pushed her towards me, making her stumble. I took hold of her in my arms, supporting her weak body. I had not imagined to face this when I started from home to come here. I had thought they would fight with me or deny me taking my mate with me.. but...the whole situation had left me in shock.
"Alpha, take your mate from here." Mrs Kentucky said looking at me. I was confused, a bit angry at the way Mrs Kentucky was treating her and ya...a bit disheartened..she was crying.. I was holding her in my arms, her whole weight on me..not that I mind..but she was vibrating with each hiccup...
"Lets go Luna" I wanted to take her away.
"I need to...take my stuff.." she whispered between her sobs.
"You are not taking anything from here." Mrs Kentucky said turning her face from us. What the hell! Well I can buy her world. Thank you very much we don't need anything from here. I took her towards our cars, but she kept looking back at them, unable to believe what that had done. Shock and hurt evident in her eyes.
During whole ride she had tears running down her cheeks, looking outside from the window. I just sat beside her, staring at my mate, wondering how she was abandoned by those for whom she ran away from her home and her mate. I had decided to give her warnings and threats, wanted her to apologise to mom but...
"What is true by lamplight is not always true by sunlight" Terek said.
"What does that even mean?" I asked.
"Broaden your vision, human. Don't just see what was shown to you but see what was purposefully hidden from you."
"Umm...ok?..."
"Didn't you see how she pushed mate towards you. She pushed her towards her future, her new life, cutting all the ties of past life, hurting themselves in return but just concerned about their child. That's mother for you." He explained. Maybe what he said was right.
Everyone at home was waiting for us. We reached pack house and by the time I opened my door, she went inside. When I went in common hall, I saw her kneeling with her head bowed in front of mom and dad. Whole pack had gathered around.
"I..I ...am sorry ... Alpha...Luna for disrespecting you....for ...run... running ..away..." She was not able to speak because of her continues crying. If she kept on shedding tears at this speed, then she will soon be dehydrated.
Jace came and kneeled beside her supporting her with his hands on her shoulders.
"Alpha. Luna. I apologise on behalf of my sister. I know she behaved irrationally and violated pack rules..but I assure you she won't be doing that again." They do share strong bond, standing for eachother.
Mom came forward and pulled both of them up. She cupped my mates face in her hands and kissed her forehead. "We don't rule or dominate our people at Southern moon pack, but consider and support their decision. I should say sorry to you for not asking what you want and forcing you to take drastic steps. I assure you that non of us will make you do things against your will. You can take your time we will wait till you are ready for the responsibility.
There see, mothers always know what to say right. I beamed.
"And..." mom continued looking at me.
"Someone else is also required to say sorry to you isn't it David. Say sorry to your mate David."
What? Excuse me? Say sorry!!!! Just scratch what I said earlier, Moms never know what to say. I future alpha of Southern moon pack don't apologise to anyone that too in front of my whole pack. No ways.
"David.come. here" mom said in her Luna tone. I went and stood in front of my mate, who stood there with her head held low. I just noticed that she had not once looked at me.
"I..I..am..." I tried my best to say.
Before I could complete my sentence, Mia lost her consciousness and was about to fall. I took her fragile body in my arms, close to my heart.
I was sitting in my office, thinking about todays events, when there was a knock at the door.
"Come in"
She peeped inside, I think she is that human mate of Jace. What is she doing here.
"Can I have a word with you future Alpha?" What she wants?
"Umm...I am a bit busy...so.."
"Its about Mia."
"Ok" she came in and sat across me.
"I and Mia were in same school. I was this troubled lonely girl, but she always tried to be friends with me. Next she brought Jace to me, my mate in my life. My stepmom had sold me to some brute, but she was the one who came for my rescue not bothering about herself. She fell unconscious that day just like today and just like today her mate, Victor carried her to safety. They shared a special bond.
"Why are you telling me all this."
"Because she is someone who always goes out of her way to help others, and today she needs help. It so happens that you are the only person who can help her. Her mate. She is suffering from depression. Can you please help her to come out of it. She needs love and care to be happy again."
"Even if I help her, will she be ready to accept my help? She clearly doesn't want me anywhere near her."
"I trust you on that. I think You are smart enough to figure out something."
