Chapter 27: The Gown
It's been a few days and it's Saturday, so Bree is getting ready to go to a shop where only gowns can be seen. She rode a taxi just to get there because there was no shop near her house, and if there was, there were only clothes that were used every day, so she really had to travel far for Daniella's gown to wear. She had two hours after she arrived, so she quickly went inside as well. The shop staff greeted me. "Hello! Good morning, ma'am."
I smiled at the staff and welcomed her back. "Good morning!"
"If you have any questions regarding gowns, you can talk to me."
"Okay, I'll take a look at your gowns here first, the ones that can be worn at a pageant."
The staff turned to their left and pointed the way. "This way, ma'am."
I followed the staff, but she just stopped to one side, and I continued to walk over to see what would fit Daniella’s gown that wasn’t too revealing. But while Bree was checking the gown, someone entered the shop, so the staff Bree had talked to earlier went near the door. Bree just ignored it and allowed herself to look at and touch the gown that was there.
I searched for almost an hour for a gown that caught my eye. This is a white and silver long gown with a turtleneck that is sleeveless. It is also fitted to the body at the abdomen, but not at the bottom. There is no need to inflate the lower part of the gown because it looks like a skirt. It looks like there's a dress net on the fabric itself, but I'm not sure if that's really the name of that fabric. The gown was plain and didn't have many details, so I thought of buying Daniella gloves for her hands that looked like nets. When I was satisfied with my choice, I looked for the female staff inside the shop. The gown shop is big, so I really need time to choose from many beautiful gowns.
I was walking when I was suddenly stopped by the person I'd seen. "Charice?"
She raised an eyebrow at me. "What are you doing here?" Her voice and tone are irritated while asking.
"Shopping for groceries," I said, then I folded my arms while her eyes narrowed at me. "Why you asked? Can you see that it's just a gown at this shop. I'm probably here because I'm going to rent a gown." I sarcastically said.
"Rent? You mean you borrow a gown and pay for it? So cheap. " She even grinned at me.
"Wow, fine. You're the wealthy one here."
"I don't need to rent because I can buy the gown that I will wear at the school pageant, unlike your friend. I am sure that I am the audience favorite and the most beautiful of all the candidates on Monday," she said, while combing her hair with her hand as if she were so proud of herself.
I walked up to Charice, but I was five steps away. "Are you sure, or maybe you're just being delusional?" I smirked.
"I'm sure the gown that looks like you chose it for her won't suit Daniella. I'm sure your friends will be a mess at the school pageant, so if I'm with her, she'll back off while it's still early. " She stared at me and seemed to be waiting to see if I had any more to say about what she said.
I smiled and laughed like a rich person who was covering her mouth with her hand. Charice seemed not to like it, but the staff came holding a big box, and I think inside the box was Charice's gown. "I'm sorry ma'am if it's a bit long time to fix this. We just made sure that the gown was put in the box with no dent. " Charice abruptly grabbed it and exited the store without thanking the employees.
In my mind, "Even manners don't have that woman." I just shook my head and turned my gaze to the staff. "I already have a gown I like, but I'll only get it for rent because it will only be used once."
"Sure, no problem. We can go to where the gown is to put it in a box."
I walked over to the gown and pointed to the shelf, but before putting it in the box, I wore it to see if an adjustment was still needed; the important thing is that it is neither too tight nor too loose, so I returned the gown to the staff. "Here's the gown, ma'am. I hope whoever wears it wins." Then she smiled at me.
I smiled at her too. "Don't worry; I'm sure the one who wears this gown will win. Thank you!" I walked away and traveled again, but the destination was not at my house but at Daniella's.
I went down in front of Daniella's house and saw her practicing. "I thought she would just lie down all day and not practice without me. I remember she is Daniella; the girl can fight even though she is so nervous. " I smiled as I walked over and called Daniella. "Dan, I'm here!" I shouted.
Daniella almost fell when I suddenly shouted. She turned around, but I received a frightening look. "Why are you staring at me like that?"
She faked a smile. "What do you think? You probably saw that I almost fell. You want to take my place in case that happens. "
"You're too annoyed, but nevermind. Come look at your gown." I excitedly entered the hut, and Daniella immediately followed.
I slowly opened the box and smiled at Daniella's reaction. "Wow! It's nice and beautiful. " Daniella touched every detail of the gown.
"I told you it's beautiful if I'm the one to choose." And it's not too revealing that only your arm can be seen as well as your armpits. "
"It's good that my armpits are white."
"I'll get some gloves. I'll buy them tomorrow to look good with gloves. Do you feel like you're getting married in this gown?"
Daniella frowned. "Why get married?"
I smiled like I had a plan. "After the pageant, I'll pull you to the wedding booth with William."
"You can't pull him that easily, so no thank you."
I snorted. "You don't want that?"
"Don't mention William first. He's a distraction to me when I hear his name."
"Gosh." Then I sighed and rolled my eyes. "I'll leave it here I'm leaving. We'll see you on Monday afternoon, because I'll be your make-up and hair stylist." I waved at Daniella before finally leaving.
Meanwhile, Daniella is still smiling as she holds the gown that she will be wearing on Monday.
