Chapter Thirteen

“Hey doll.” He smiles at me and I feel the tears falling down my cheeks and they show no signs of stopping. I can’t even speak from all of the emotions welling up inside of me.
“Hey why are you crying? Doll please don’t cry. I’m going to be just fine. I’m your unkillable Reaper remember?” That makes me smile a little but the tears are still falling.
“Come here doll. Please don’t cry.” I sit the food and drink down with my purse in another chair and walk closer to the bed and when I’m close enough he pulls me into a hug and I break down even more holding him.
“Don’t ever scare me like that again.” I pull back when I hear him whimper softly.
“I’m sorry baby. I didn’t mean to hurt you.” He smiles at me and tells me that it’s okay. Neither of us says anything for a few minutes and just stare at each other. I can tell that he’s looking over me to make sure I’m okay and I’m doing the same. Only there’s nothing wrong with me but what I see breaks my heart. He has a gash on his forehead and cuts and bruises on his arms, legs, and abs. He’s still the most gorgeous man I’ve ever seen though and I’m going to do whatever I can to help him get better. I look around the room and see that Daniel is no longer there. Hmm when did he leave?
“Doll I’m sorry for ruining our date night. I know that you only have a few days left here and I’ve taken up two of those being stuck here. I’ll make it up to you I promise.” He grabs my hands and kisses them both.
“You didn’t ruin anything, love. I don’t care about the rest as long as you’re going to be alright.” He smiles.
“That was pretty clever using the promise I made to you against me.”
“Yeah well I needed to keep you in here. How do you think you were really going to get out of here anyway baby? I mean you can’t walk right now. And why were you trying to get to me so badly? You were the one in the accident, not me. I’m fine baby except for worrying about whether you were going to make it or not.”
“I’ll stay here if it makes my Queen happy. Getting to you was all that I could think about doing because when I woke up I didn’t know if you knew what happened or not and I was scared that you had thought I’d deserted you. I couldn’t have you think that I’d stood you up and you leave. When he told me what you said about the promise, that's when I finally realized that he was on the phone talking to someone. He told me that he had called you and also that you had been here everyday since I was brought in here. I’m so sorry that they wouldn’t let you in because you’re not family. I’m going to fix that little problem because you are family, you’re my family.” He leans in and kisses me gently on the lips. The nurse comes in and interrupts our tender moment saying she needs to take his vitals again while someone else brings in a tray of food. He looks at the tray before uncovering it and I see his nose wrinkle up in disgust.
“Yeah, I’m not going to eat that mess.” I just giggle.
“I love to hear that sound. Doll what do you have in that bag?” I’d forgotten all about the food and hoped that the drinks weren’t flat.
“Oh I forgot about the food. I stopped at your favorite place and got a bacon cheeseburger and fries for both of us and some drinks. Can you have that or should I get you something else?”
“Whether I can have it or not I am definitely going to eat it. Give me that burger woman!” I bust out laughing and take the food out of the bag setting it on the tray for him along with his soda, then I take out my own food and sit in a chair and we both start eating. He basically inhales his and that has me a little worried because for him to eat like that he must be starving.
“Uh baby aren’t they feeding you in here?” He looks up at me with a mouth full and smiles. Once he finishes chewing and swallowing he takes a sip of his drink and looks at me.
“Yeah but you saw what they gave me just now. Doll how am I supposed to live off of that mess? It looks and smells disgusting.”
“Yeah it did look pretty horrible. I’ll get you something else to eat before I leave you for the night. Then again maybe we could send one of your friends to get you something because I don’t want to leave you and have less time with you.”
“How about you don’t leave me at all. Spend the night here with me doll. I don’t want to be here without you.” I just stare at him for a second and look around the room. There’s two chairs and a sofa that I’m guessing pulls out into a bed but even if not I could probably curl up and sleep on it.
“Okay baby I’ll stay here with you tonight. We still need to get some food in here though so I’ll order something then have it delivered or maybe one of them can pick it up for us. I’ll get them something to eat also since they’ve been here and I feel like I’m monopolizing all your time. Maybe I should leave and let them spend some time with you while I go get the food. What do you think?”
“Doll they aren’t even up here anymore.”
“What do you mean? I mean why would they leave with you still in here?
“They left because I told them to doll. I have you here so everything is fine.” I stand up and walk closer to him.
