Chapter Forty (Jameson's POV)

Jameson’s POV

I hold my stinging cheek and watch in confusion as the woman that I love more than my own life runs out of the restaurant. I’m lost and confused because I have no idea what she’s talking about that I supposedly did to her. All the guys are looking at me right now and they look just as confused as I do at this moment.
“What the hell did you do dude?” says Ethan.
“I have no idea. I don’t know what that was all about.”
“Don’t you think that you should go after her and find out?” says Daniel.
“Yeah but not tonight. Believe me guys when she’s pissed I’ve learned to let her cool down before confronting her. I’ll only make it worse if I go after her right now. We were having a great night so I don’t get what set her off.”
“I think we may know the answer to that.” says Alicia. I turn to see her and Stephanie escorting the one person that I never want to see again in this lifetime towards our table.
“I should have known that your ass was involved. What the hell did you do to her this time?” She stands there looking innocent but I know better.
“I don’t have time for games. If I lose Renee because of you I will make your life hell and you know that I can, so tell me what the fuck did you do!” I see her visibly jump when I raise my voice. Good, she should be afraid. By now we’re all surrounding her so there’s no way for her to escape. Alicia pulls something from out of the girl’s hand and gives it to me after pressing play.
“She showed that to Renee. Please tell me that you weren’t stupid enough to cheat on her with this woman? Jameson what the hell were you thinking?” says Alicia. She’s pissed off and I would expect nothing less from her. She and Renee have grown very close since they’ve met and Alicia sees her as a sister. She was the only girl in our little squad for years until Renee showed up and she is very protective of her.
“Alicia, you know me and there is no way that I would ever sleep with this woman again and ruin what I have with Renee. She isn’t worth it and I am in love with Renee.”
“Then where did this video come from? Renee isn’t just my boss she’s my best friend. I don’t know many other employers that would say they aren’t transferring without their assistant or introduce them to an amazing man and friends once they move to a new state. She has not only helped my career, but she’s helped me realize a dream of getting away from home and seeing other places. Meeting you all and Daniel has been a great bonus.” says Stephanie. I see Daniel smile at her and she smiles back. I’m glad he’s happy and that Renee has them looking out for her.
“I didn’t cheat on her. Yes that is me in the video and I was with her but Alicia, did you really look at the video? I mean the scenery more than anything. Look at the furniture and other things in that room.”
“I’d rather not.” says Alicia. Right then I see Daniel and Ethan move closer to me and take a better look. They both look at each other and smile then hug me.
“I knew you didn’t do it dude!” says Ethan.
“That’s a relief because I didn’t want to have to choose between you and Renee for friends.” says Daniel. I look at him and roll my eyes.
“Gee thanks dude. You would actually leave me for Renee?” He shrugs his shoulders and I lightly punch him in the shoulder. We both laugh but stop when we hear someone clearing their throat.
“Umm do you guys want to tell us what is so funny? This is serious so why are you laughing?” says Alicia. Stephanie is standing there with a frown on her face and Daniel instantly stops laughing.
“Well, Alicia if you had bothered to look at the video you’d see that the video is old. Yes that is us and I can’t deny that but that is my apartment that I had when I was in college. I didn’t know that she recorded us having sex that night but all the furniture in that video is from my first apartment. I don’t own any of that crap anymore.”
She takes a closer look and realization comes over her face. I don’t know how she didn’t recognize it before. I mean they all practically lived at my place and she even slept in my bed on more than one occasion. We were never intimate. She only slept over when she was too drunk or tired to drive home after studying. I turn my attention back to the one that has made my life miserable and I walk up to her.
“You have been nothing but a pain in my ass these past few months and that stops as of tonight. I’m going to say this for the last time and you better get it through your thick head. I don’t want you and I’ll never want you. You mean nothing to me and never did. We had one date that you fucked up by being vain, shallow, self-centered, and a gold digger. I could and would never be with someone like you. That woman that you lied to is my world and if I can’t get her back after what you’ve done, I suggest you run far because if I find you, you will wish that you were dead. Now get the fuck out of here before I forget that you’re a female and I knock your ass out.” I can see the fear in her eyes as I spoke to her and now she’s visibly shaking and hopefully she takes heed to my promise because I meant every word. Now I need to figure out where Renee went so that I can find her and tell her the truth. I’m hoping with all my heart that she believes me.
She runs out of the restaurant and I feel completely drained as I sit down in my chair. I can feel them all looking at me but right now there’s nothing else that I can think about other than Renee. I can’t imagine what she had to be thinking after seeing that video. She looked so hurt before she ran out of here. I have to find a way to fix this soon. After a few minutes I look up and they all look sad for me but I don’t want that.
“Guys cheer up. This is an engagement party and she wouldn’t want you all being sad on this very happy and special day. I’ll fix this and things will be fine so stop looking at me like someone killed my puppy. Renee is mine and I’m not going to let her go without a fight. Now you guys keep partying because I think I may know where she went and I’m going get my woman.”
They all cheer and raise their glasses to me before I hug the newly engaged couple and grab my keys heading for the car. Once inside the car, I called the hotel that she stayed in when she first got here to see if they had her registered there, and just as I thought she was there. I drove home as fast as legally possible and once I was inside, I quickly showered and put on my boxers then called her phone. I called her at least five times but it kept going to voicemail so I finally left her a message and told her to call me when she woke up so that I could explain everything. I sent her text messages letting her know that I love and miss her before finally plugging in my phone to charge and setting my alarm to get up early to meet her at the hotel. She’ll need a change of clothes and her charger since I know that she didn’t come back here before getting a room. I lie down under the covers facing her side of the bed and I grab her pillow and hug it close to my chest. We’ve slept apart before but always in the same house. This feels different and wrong. She should be here screaming and yelling at me or something but instead there’s only silence. The house is way too quiet without her here and I know that I can’t go another day without her home. I have to get her back tomorrow. I close my eyes and slowly drift off to sleep dreaming of my beautiful Queen.
