“Max?” I asked looking at him take the seat across from my desk, crossing his leg lazily.

“I am surprised you did not hear him screaming.” Max laughed darkly leaning forward in his chair.
“Yeah, I am surprised too. Seriously, what did he say?” I asked laughing shaking my head.
“Pretty much, I was bought and paid for, and if I knew what was good for me, I would return to him with Mei in hand.” Max said shrugging his shoulders. The arrogance of this piece of shit. Goki was snapping his jaws, pissed.
“Hah. Like that will ever happen. You are a good guy Max, and I trust you.” I said handing him a glass of whiskey.
“Besides Raven’s idle threats, I managed to find out some more information on this so called “mystery” person that has a bounty out for Mei.” Max said pulling a paper out from his back pocket.
“Raven has his own price set on Mei for her return as a fighter, but this guy is a whole other story.” Max said pointing at the paper. I scanned the paper, looking at some information of locations, and ghost businesses, until the name caught my attention. I looked up at Max making sure I was reading this correctly.
“If this is true, we have a serious problem, and it involves Desmond as well.” I said re-reading the name. Victor Nightshade, Desmond’s uncle who started the last war between Vampires and Werewolves. Using the “Spirit Wolf” to attack his brother for the throne.
“He disappeared shortly after his attempt at the throne failed. Word has it that he went underground, then sightings and word got out right around the time rogues started searching.” Max said holding my stare.
“I think we need to get Desmond filled-in on this current information. I think a happy family reunion is not the plan with this guy.” I said pouring another whiskey downing it in one gulp. Another knock sounded. Seth and Eli entered.
“We figured we would find you two here.” Eli said taking a seat on the Sofa leaning back. Seth taking the seat next to Max.
“So, how bad is it?” Eli said raising his eyebrow side glancing me.
“Victor Nightshade.” I replied, watching Seth and Eli both drop their faces into their hands, groaning.
“Can this guy stay dead for once.” Seth exhaled. Seth was familiar with Victor’s story because his family lost everything in the war. Eli knew because of Desmond.
“Not only do we have Victor’s bounty, but Raven too. Max had a lovely chat with our friend earlier.” I said looking between the three.
“Do we tell Mei, or wait?” Max asked looking between the three of us.
“Let us get Desmond filled-in first, dig up more information on his last whereabouts, increase patrols, double-down on training. Mei needs to work on understanding her powers as the “spirit wolf”.” I said watching all three nod in agreement.
“Max, seeing how you have the most time spent with Mei in that facility, you understand her power a little more than we do. We will help in anyway necessary.” I said standing up walking around my desk leaning against it. Crossing my arms over my chest.
“We need to make sure everyone is on the same page. I will fish around some with Damian, see what he has found out, or if he knows more than he is letting on.” I said rubbing my face. Goki was pacing snarling, and growling.
“For Fuck sake!” Goki growled annoyed.
“I know what you are feeling.” I said nodding at his annoyance.
“Can she have some kind of peace?” Goki huffed.
“As long as they know what she is, never.” I said getting pissed.
I heard soft scratching at my door. Eli stood up, opening the door, Lui strode in sitting down next to me. Mei must be up already.
“This is a first.” I said looking at Lui tilt his head then look at the door, walking away.
“I never see Lui here, only at the clinic and your bedroom.” Eli said looking over at me with a curious look. Goki started stirring oddly.
“Check on Mei.” Goki said.
“Everything okay?” I asked.
“Not sure, I am getting this weird pulsing energy from our link.” Goki said.
