New Ability
Jack:
I stood up walking towards our room. Goki was right, this weird pulsing energy was radiating from our room. Eli, Max, and Seth followed me looking oddly in the direction of our room. Lui and Li were sitting at the door, looking at it strangely.
When I opened the door, a strong wave of energy dropped all of us to our knees, regaining our bearings, we entered the room finding Mei in half-shift form on the floor. This strange energy pulsing off her body, she was not in pain, she was humming. I stepped forward; Max put his arm out to stop me.
“What is happening?” I asked trying to keep a calm voice. I did not want to scare Mei. The power coming off her body would be painful if she released it as an attack.
“Mei and Kyou are going through a change. That is the pulsing energy you feel.” Max said in a whispered voice.
“What kind of change?” Eli asked stepping closer to Max to keep his voice down.
“It is like when we first shifted, but this is another shifting process. I am curious to know what power she has released.” Max said watching Mei.
Another power?
We know she can dream travel already, so what has she released now? I asked silently. The pulsing stopped, and Mei sat quietly looking at the floor.
“Victor Nightshade.” She said looking at the floor calmly. Max, Eli, Seth, and I snapped our heads at each other.
How did she know that name?
“Mei baby. How do you know that name?” I asked walking up to her, crouching down beside her rubbing her back.
“He is looking for me. He is after something, but I am not quite sure what he is after. Whatever it is, he thinks it will help him.” Mei said looking up at me confused.
“He is Desmond’s Uncle. The one that used the last “spirit wolf” to try and take the throne from his brother, Desmond’s Dad Ivan. Max just informed us of this while you were sleeping.” I said helping her up from the floor.
She stood looking at us with glassy eyes. She started to say something, then her eyes rolled into the back of her head, collapsing into my arms.
“Shit! Get Amelia here NOW!” I yelled. Max and Seth running over to help get her into bed. Lui and Li jumped up on the bed, laying down next to her. This is strange, they never jump up on the bed.
“Amelia is on her way.” Eli said running out of the bathroom with a washcloth. Handing it to me. Her body was ice cold, but her face and head were burning up. What the hell! Amelia dashed into the room with Roger on her heels.
“What happened?” Amelia asked checking her pulse and opening her eyes to check for reaction.
“She went through another shift.” Max said looking at Amelia then to Mei. Amelia raised an eyebrow.
“Another shift?” She asked tapping her finger on her arm.
“I only saw it once before, when she partially shifted gaining her ability to see an enemy move before it happens.” Max said looking over at me. I raised an eyebrow.
Is this how she was able to fight so well?
Being able to see an enemy’s attack before it happens is extremely helpful, and gives an upper hand in the fight. Amelia checked a few more things, before stepping back.
“It seems this shift, put extra stress on her body. She is fine, she is just in deep sleep.” Amelia said hooking up a heart monitor to Mei.
“What’s the monitor for?” Eli asked looking at me with a curious look.
“If this monitor starts to beep, you need to calm her down. I know she is the “spirit wolf” and seeing that she can dream travel already. I have a sneaking suspicion that her new power will present itself while she is sleeping.” Amelia said looking at Mei, brushing some hair from her face.
“Seth keep me informed of her progress, and if she wakes. Take notes if she speaks, murmurs, anything because it will be helpful to her.” Amelia ordered her son. Seth nodded grabbing a note pad and pen, setting it down at the table.
“I will have dinner sent up to you boys. I have a feeling you four are not going anywhere.” Amelia smiled walking out the room with Roger.
We all grabbed our laptops and paperwork. Eli and Seth got to work contacting Desmond and Damian, filling them in on Victor. Max went to work searching for more information on Victor, and anything connected to the “spirit wolf”. I gently wiped Mei’s face with the washcloth, watching her eyes shift under her eyelids. She was sleeping. Lui and Li stayed close by watching over her.
Mei:
What is that pulsing?
My skull feels like it is on fire, Kyou is whimpering at the discomfort. I need to get up, get some pain pills to kill what every is going on. I made it about ten feet or so, before collapsing to the ground. The pulsing getting stronger as I half-shifted, Kyou saying something about “next shift” I could not focus on her over the intense pulsing.
Then everything went white, I could hear the guys whispering, but I was focused on this damn pulsing. I kept hearing Kyou, “Victor” who? “Victor” Okay, focus Mei. “Victor” Kyou stated louder than “Nightshade” Wait! What? Nightshade as in my Uncle Desmond Nightshade.
“Victor is Desmond’s Uncle. Bad Man. Very Bad Man.” Kyou growled.
“Victor Nightshade.” I said not realizing I said it out loud. I could hear Jack ask how I knew that name. I just know he is looking for me, he wants something.
“He is looking for me. He is after something, but I am not quite sure what he is after. Whatever it is, he thinks it will help him.” I said looking up at him confused by the thoughts.
“He is Desmond’s Uncle. The one that used the last “spirit wolf” to try and take the throne from his brother, Desmond’s Dad Ivan. Max just informed us of this while you were sleeping.” Jack sounded like he was twenty feet away, but he was here at arm’s length. He helped me stand up, fixing to say something, Kyou was acting weird. Then I watched as Jack faded into darkness.
I felt like I was floating, but I had wings. I was flying like a bird, watching the bayou drift away, then morphing into frozen mountains, high mountains. Higher than the ones at the facility. A cave came into view, approaching with caution not wanting to be seen. The cave was deep, light was dancing off the ice-covered walls, disembodied voices could be heard in the distance. I slowly approached, trying to hear whoever was talking. Two men talking, then a female’s voice.
“Have you found her yet?” Man’s voice asks. Sounding annoyed.
“We have rogues searching, your liege.” Other man’s voice answered coldly.
“I want results, I need that “spirit wolf” it is the only way I can take back what is rightfully mine.” First man’s voice states sounding angrier.
“Father, may I suggest you try connecting to it, you still have some connection to it.” Female’s voice says sounding like it was distant.
“I have to be close enough for it to work.” Man’s voice says with an undertone of annoyance.
“How should we proceed your liege?” Second man’s voice asks coldly.
“Keep the rogues searching, it is bound to appear. Lindsey stay close to Alpha Jack, he is part of this also, I need his blood along with the “Spirit Wolf” blood to complete the ritual.” Man’s voice says laughing coldly.
Shit! Lindsey is Victor’s daughter.
Okay, I need to get my ass out of here. I feel a warm sensation on my face, electric sparks racing through my body. Jack. I backed away slowly from the conversation. Floating away from the ice-covered mountains, back to the bayou.
“Lindsey.” I thought.
“Victor.” I cannot believe this shit. I knew that bitch was no good.
“DAUGHTER.” I shouted.
“Mei Baby. Wake-up.” Jack whispered gently against my ear. Tingles shooting through my hand. His warm hand holding mine.
Oh, I need to wake the fuck up!
