Alone - Leah

My mind started to wake up, while my body needed time to rest. I don’t remember how I got here, but the thought of what I did last night came flooding back when I tried to sit up in bed. I couldn’t believe how sore I was, it was as if I could feel every muscle in my body.

Between my legs was sore and still dripping wet. Adrian had an effect on me, and I wasn’t sure what to make of it yet. I felt as if I was in a daze or fog, so I took my hands and rubbed my eyes.

Wearing merely a man’s shirt that smelt familiar, but it did not smell like Adrian. My hair was knotted, and my makeup was smeared all over my face. A quick glance at my body and I noticed I was covered in marks that reminded me of him.

There were no bruises, but my skin was still red and swollen. I could make out the hickeys and bite marks. My wrists ached, but there were no marks to identify what was used to strap me to the bed.

I slowly made it out of bed, but I was too weak to rush. Dehydration and starvation were creeping over me, but my mind was only focused on one thing. I need to find out what happened last night after my time in the Red Room.

Hobbling to the living room of the villa, I noticed it was quiet, too quiet. I wonder if Jen was home, so I walked into her room because her door was open. I saw last night’s outfit on the floor and the bed was a mess, but she was nowhere to be found.

A quick glance around and I noticed there was no butler either. I was shocked and confused. I looked at the clock on the wall and it was 3 in the afternoon. What the hell happened last night?

I decided to shower and change into something comfortable. At least Jen packed us some lounge clothes. I threw on a white tank top without a bra and a pair of sky-blue cotton shorts with a tie. I slipped on my sandals and decided to walk around the resort.

Surely someone saw me last night or knew where Jen was.

Walking around everyone acted like it was a normal Saturday in a tropical city. Waving and chatting about without seeming to notice that others were naked. I kept on my search for Jen.

As I passed the bar some guests raised their glasses to me and shouted, “She’s alive!”.

At a complete loss, I walked over to ask what had happened. The guests were secretive and didn’t tell me much, except to ask Jen and Alejandro when I found them. They winked at me, so I wonder if they heard all of my moans in the Red Room.

It didn’t take long to find her once I went to the main pool. It was another pool party, but this time there was colorful foam everywhere. I spotted Jen in the cabana that we used yesterday.

I looked over to Adrian’s bed, but he was not there. I didn’t feel that burning gaze that I had felt the last two days. It was safe to say he wasn’t there, but I hope he was okay.

Once I got to Jen, she went pale and not from all the alcohol we had consumed over the last few days. She sat down and patted the seat beside her to motion for me to sit with her. There was a whole party going on around us, but it all went silent as a feeling of dread flooded my body.

I was so consumed with my thoughts that Jenny had to shake me to pull me out of the trance.

“Leah, you okay babe?”, she said as she gently shook my arm.

“Yes, I am fine. Hey, what happened last night after I left you to go find the restroom?”, I wanted to get straight to the point.

“We can talk about that later, let’s just enjoy our last day here!”, she said in a cheeky tone.

“Jenny no, I can’t shake this feeling that something is just not right.”, I said.

I reached over to hold her hand, “Please Jen, just tell me what happened?”.

“Okay, fine. When you left to go to the restroom, I passed Adrian and he asked where you went. I told him you went to find the ladies’ room. He didn’t even reply, he just darted off in your direction.”, pausing the wave at people passing by.

“Let’s just say that boy had a target on you and only eyes for you. He was hot for some Leah. I just assumed he would go bang your brains in the stall. I mean that would have been hot. There is sex happening all over this place.”, she continued and then stopped mid-thought.

“Jen, please continue. I need to know.”, I pleaded.

“Well hours passed, and you never came back. I figured you left with him, so I text you that I was going back to the villa with this guy I met. His name is Alejandro. We went back and I had sex with him and his wife, but by the time we were done you still weren’t back or even responding to me.”, she paused again. Longer this time.

“Alejandro offered to help me find you, so we walked around the whole resort. Security wouldn’t do anything because you weren’t technically missing. They just said you probably ended up in someone’s room. I still didn’t believe that.”, she stopped.

“Jen I really need to know. Whatever it is please tell me.”, I pleaded again.

“Okay. Well, we passed the main lobby and saw Adrian leaving. Like leaving with his bags, so I went to ask him where you were. He said a work emergency came up and just got in the car and left. I tried to pressure him, but he just brushed me off for business. We decided to go check the bar, that maybe he pissed you off and you wanted to drink away any memory of him.”, a slight pause.

“I could not find you in the bar and that is when Alejandro took me to the Red Room.”, my heart sank at all the possibilities.

“Keep going, Jen. I am okay now. I promise.”, I assured her.

“It was a neat room, and we can talk about what happened in there later, but back to the point. The staff had cut on the white lights to clean, and the room appeared to be empty”, a pause and shift in tone caused me to be alarmed.

“The staff ignored a bed in the back. The curtains were down, and we were told that the bed was off-limits. I immediately ran to it and there you were. You were laying there sleeping peacefully. He had covered you and made sure no one would bother you, but your dress was trashed. The things around the bed and your hair did the explaining. Alejandro said he would carry you to the villa, but he could have no other involvement.”, that’s when a memory hit me, and I looked away from her. She paused.

“At least he covered me up.”, I shrugged off my emotions instead of dealing with them.

“Bitch, he left you alone. And they couldn’t even help a girl out. He’s a total dick and you’re better off without him.”, she pumped me up.

The blonde that came and spoke to the man on the daybed was the woman who was with Adrian. Alejandro was scared away from me by a few words muttered by someone else in place of Adrian. Why would Adrian’s words have such an effect on someone? And why did he leave me there?

“You’re right. Adrian left me there all alone without saying goodbye. What a fucking asshole.”, I looked back at her as tears began to form.

I wanted to be pissed off at him because of how he left hurt, but he did warn me that he wasn’t looking for a relationship.

“Jen, I think I am just going to go back to the villa. I am not up for a party right now.”, she nodded as she understood.

The walk back to the room was cold and lonely. How could a man I just met and had no intention of ever seeing again hurt me so bad? I just wasn’t feeling up to any more of this vacation.

For the rest of the evening, I just stayed in bed. I only planned to get out when it was time to pack and go home tomorrow. I wanted to get back to my reality, my apartment, my job, and my solitude.

I am no more alone now than I was when I got here… yet I feel utterly and completely alone for the first time in my life. I can’t believe I let this man get into my head and ruin me.
