Spill

The anticipation of not knowing who was on the other side of the door intensified with each passing moment. With each tick of the clock, I could feel the clicking inside of my ears as the sounds within the room were drowned. This felt like my rock bottom, and I didn’t know which way I wanted my life to go.

“Come in.”, my voice shaky.

Yet no one entered. I wondered if the staff had tried to come in and then changed their mind. It had happened a few times since being here because they would forget something, or someone needed them.

I feared each step as I began walking over to the door, turning the knob, and opening it…

“Jenny!”, I yelled.

Shock, excitement, and relief flooded my soul.

“Hey babe!”, she smiled as I pulled her in.

“What are you doing here?!”, she was a pleasant surprise.

“Jared told me what happened. I decided to come here and see you.”, she held my hands out wide giving me a look.

“We have a lot to talk about, but I have an odd request.”, I paused to think about what I really wanted in life.

“Babe spill.”, she couldn’t wait.

“Take me home?”, I fell into her in a sobbing hug.

“Absolutely.”, she held me and didn’t speak another word while I cried.

My life had come spiraling out of control and I didn’t know what was going on with me. Trying to wrap my head around how a small-town girl fell in too deep with so many men. I thought I wanted a life like Jenny’s, carefree and overly sexual, but it wasn’t working out like I imagined.

I had no clue what to do or who I was anymore. Over the last four moths I had lost track of my dreams and derailed my five-year plan. To top it off, I was going to be a mother.

Once I had no more tears to cry, I wiped my eyes and looked at her. She was the only person in this world who’s never lied to me or tried to hurt me in any way. Jenny has been my rock and I didn’t realize how much I needed her right now.

“We need to hurry.”, I grabbed my bag and she looked at me funny.

Pulling her arm to follow me, “I’ll explain on the way.”.

That morning when the day shift came in to do their rounds, I had signed a form to release myself from the hospital. I knew I was getting out of here today, but I assumed it would be with Adrian or Graham. Jared knew me all too well; I needed my best friend.

There was no way that the only way out of this hospital was through that door. We went up to the nurse’s station and asked for a back way out. Telling them that any moment two of the four men I had been sleeping with were coming in.

Wanting to avoid the drama, we needed a way out. Jenny looked at me confused because she had missed a lot. The nurses didn’t care, except one who nodded her head in the back.

Looking in the direction of her nod, we saw an exit sign and headed straight for it. There were stairs leading down to the parking garage under the hospital. From there we followed the signs to a taxi waiting area.

Jenny was along for the adventure because she was still trying to figure out why we were running away. My mind replaying every scenario of Adrian finding out I was missing again. He was going to be livid with me, but I needed to get away from them all and think about my next steps.

We hailed a cab rather quickly and asked to be taken to the airport. Jenny had an app on her phone and was able to get us plane tickets for the next flight back to the city. Neither of us had bag to check, so we headed for the gate as soon as we were dropped off.

The adrenaline pumping through my veins was at an all time high. With Adrian’s reach, I knew that he would be on my trail once he noticed I had left. I wasn’t ready to face him yet.

Every time I am around a man my mind goes crazy and my hormones take over. I was so focused on sex and the next orgasm that I didn’t really get to know any of these men. And one of them was my child’s father.

I thoroughly enjoyed the sex, but right now I had a few things that I needed to square up. The two main things on my agenda were dealing with Monica and deciding what to do with my child. Not knowing who was the father seemed like a hurdle I could deal with later.

Jenny cut it close with departure times. We made it through and to the gate just before boarding closed. She was taking getting me home very seriously. I hadn’t even had the time to catch her up on what was going on in my life.

Getting strapped in our seats was the moment I was able to breathe. There was no way we were followed, and we had a head start on getting back to the city. Avoiding them in a city we all worked in would be the hard part.

“So? Spill!”, Jenny had already leaned in waiting for my drama.

She got comfortable and I spilled every detail. It brought back a lot of emotions because I spent three weeks thinking Cameron had died. And in those three weeks my abandonment issues had resurfaced.

My life was fine and quiet before our trip to Mexico. It was like some bad spirit had followed me home. That’s when I thought back to the trip and Monica.

Jenny engaged in my story and asked me questions that brought old details to light. Monica was the center of all my trouble. She was Adrian’s ex who hated me, she had her brother kidnap me, and she was a master manipulator.

“So, what’s our plan?”, Jenny was invested in exposing Monica.

“We need to find proof that she isn’t pregnant.”, these pregnancy hormones causing me to lose my train of thought.

“Punching a fake belly will do that.”, Jenny laughed.

We bounced ideas back and forth but couldn’t settle on an idea. I could just tell Adrian, but then I would look like a jealous lover when he finds out I am pregnant. And I can’t get caught up in a cat fight and risk hurting my baby. This was a tough call.

The rest of our flight was quick and filled with nonstop conversation. I was surprised to hear that she decided to start a long-term relationship. Martin seemed like a nice guy, and I would have to apologize for hitting on him.

“Whoa Miss I am not settling down until after 30!”, I teased her.

“Marin is different than the guys who have been warming my bed.”, she blushed.

“You really like him huh?”, I leaned my head back on my chair and let out a deep breath.

“You don’t?”, she asked as if my approval was needed.

“I do, he’s just friends with Adrian. That’s all.”, I wanted her to be happy.

Martin did seem like a nice guy, and he was loyal too. I will never forget him turning me down because of his bro code with Adrian. Jenny needed a man like that.

Someone strong and independent that was willing to put up with her adventurous side. It was shocking to see that in the three weeks that I was gone that she had changed so much. I had become the wild and sexual one, she became the quiet and homely one.

Stepping out of the airport and back into the crisp city air had me stunned. I didn’t realize how much I missed the polluted air. The thousands of cars letting off fumes, the trash piled up, and the odors from everyone walking by.

Colorado was fresh and it was nice, but the air here smelt lived in and lively. It was probably worse for my lungs, but it was a piece of comfort that I missed. The air here was also full of noise pollution from the bustling of the city.

Catching a taxi back to the Vanity didn’t take long. The doorman even noticed that I had been gone for a while. It had been a long time since I had walked into my apartment, but it didn’t seem like anything I had changed.

Walking around I could tell that Martin had been staying here. My pregnancy only heightened my sense of smell, and I could smell his musky scent lingering. I didn’t mind at all because this was Jenny’s home too.

My room was in the same messy state in which I had left it. The lingerie covering my bed from my selfie party before I had left. I plopped down on the side of my bed and laid back.

“Fuck”, I whispered.

My life had become a complete mess. I really could use a mom and dad right about now. There was no way I was going to turn to Nancy for help.

“Hey babe?”, Jenny called from the living room.

I didn’t want to move, so I yelled, “What’s up?”.

“I am ordering takeout, you want some?”, she shouted back.

“Absolutely, a number 10 spicy with extra eggrolls.”, my cravings had already kicked in.

“Gotcha. Oh, and another thing...”, she paused as she walked toward my door.

I sat up on my elbows and looked at her, “I’m listening.”.

“I have a plan for Monica. Want to hear it?”.

Hell yes! I needed all of the help I could get exposing her for the fraud she was. That bitch was going down and I was going to be there when it came crashing down.

Patting the bed next to me, I motioned for her to sit next to me, “Spill.”.

The look in her eyes let me know that this was going to be good.
