It's time to go back
After that day, I began spending more time with Pavlina and Derek. But I attempted to talk to Ethan as well, but for some reason, he chose to ignore me. When I tried to talk with him, he abruptly changed the topic and ignored me. However, I spotted him with Pavlina most of the time. I used to confuse him for Paul. They had the appearance of a daughter and a father.
Maybe Ethan came into our lives in the form of an angel. We stayed here for a total of two weeks. I asked Ethan a lot of questions about his wife throughout these two weeks. But he usually ignored my questions.
We'll be going today. I noticed a visible sadness on Ethan's face when he found out we were leaving. Ethan spent the entire day with Pavlina before leaving.
He could have been missing his daughter. We had been waiting for the car for quite some time. "Wait here, sweetie," Derek urged.
Pavlina was with Ethan, and I stood back and watched them.
Ethan asked Pavlina, "Will you miss me, Baby?" Pavlina nodded and embraced Ethan's neck with her tiny hands. "I'll miss you even more, sweetheart," Ethan said as he held her firmly. "Will y-ou co-me to see me?" Pavlina asked. Ethan gave her a friendly smile. But, after a little pause, Ethan stated, "No, I won't go." Pavlina asked, "Why?" "Don't you like me?" she asked. Ethan kissed her on the cheek and shut his eyes. "I'll tell Da-dy," Pavlina said. I was surreptitiously listening in on their conversation. Ethan, why did you say no? It's amazing how they were able to get so close so quickly! I walked carefully towards them. When he heard my footsteps, Ethan turned around and looked down.
I don't know why he is avoiding my gaze. I'm not sure why he doesn't want to look at me. Pavlina said, "Mo-ma." I smiled at her. Pavlina approached me. When Ethan handed Pavlina to me, we unexpectedly touched fingers. I felt a familiar touch from him. As a result of his sudden flick of his hand, I became more aware of this. He tried to leave, but I stopped him. I called him, "Mr. Ethan." He came to a halt there. He stammered, "y-yes." As I released Pavlina, she began to play close to me. "How are you doing?" I asked. He said, "Yes, I'm OK." "We're leaving," I said, a smile on my face. Ethan merely nodded, but remained silent. "Will you pay us a visit?" I asked. He merely gave me a smile. He didn't make eye contact with me. He was behaving strangely.
But I'm not going to let you go so simply; I've got a lot of questions for you. "Why aren't you just saying anything?" I asked. "What will I say?" he asked, a smile on his face. "Mr. Ethan, I'd like to ask you a question. Will you be honest with me? ", I added soothingly. He expanded his eyes, as if he was becoming a bit nervous. He said, "yes." "How did you come to know about Pavlina?" I asked. "Pavlina? What are you talking about? ", he said, his voice straining. "She isn't Derek's daughter," I stated.
"Mrs. Elena, what are you saying?" he asked. "I've never told you she's not his daughter, and I don't think Derek would either, " I added. "Then tell me why you said that, "my love, "I asked. "Mrs. Elena, did I mention she isn't Mr. Derek's daughter?" he said after a moment's thought. I narrowed my eyes. Yes, he did not say this. He stated, "I said she is your angel of yours and your love." I came to a halt and said, "Sorry, I misunderstood, I thou-," but Ethan interrupted me and asked, "You thought I was Paul, right?" When I gazed at him, his eyes gleamed like stars. He gave me a warm smile. I cast a downward glance. I have no questions for him. Whenever I thought he was Paul, he proved me wrong. He said, "Did you love him?"
Yes, I said with a nod. "I adore him. I'll always love him," Elena said. Ethan said nothing to her. "He promised me that he would always be there for me. Elena said, "I know he's with me." "He'll never bre-," Elena said, looking at Ethan. Ethan quickly shifted his gaze to the other side to hide his tears. "Thank you, Ethan," Elena remarked, smiling. Without glancing at her, Ethan nodded.
Ethan's point of view.
I'm not ready to look at you. I don't want you to see me cry. Elena, you were both my power and vulnerability. I don't have anything more to ask of you because you've already given me the biggest gift of all, our daughter. In the first place, you recognized me. And I had a feeling you would. I knew you loved me so much that you tried to hate me for my deeds, but you couldn't. Take a look at what you've done to yourself in the last few years. I'm your Paul, Elena. I'm your Paul. I just wanted to shout that I'm your Paul. But I can't because I believe I have to punish myself even more. I kept an eye on you and my kid every day, darling. You have given me the greatest gift I have ever received. You saved our love. You gave birth to our love. I wish I could wrap my arms around you and give you a warm embrace. I wish I could pause time right now. I wish I could stop you from leaving.
I lowered my head. "Will you come meet us, Mr. Ethan?" Elena asked. I was barely able to hold back my tears. I nodded but didn't look her in the eyes. If she gets me again, I doubt I'll be able to stop myself.
Elena's point of view
Is he crying? But why is that? I'm not sure what's ripping my heart apart. "Mr. Ethan," I said. He didn't even give me a sidelong glance. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, unknowingly did something unfavorable.
