20. Indirect Recognition

“Victoria. Can you hear me, Vic?” The voice coming from Victoria’s watch made her jump.

Victoria paused for a moment, looking for the source of the voice, then the girl realised that there was a communication device still connected to her ear so she could hear Sean’s voice.

“Yes, I can hear it. You startled me, Se,” Victoria replied.

“Where are you?” the man asked in an anxious voice.

Victoria looked around, the room was filled with technology.

“I don’t know. But I’m fine,” the girl replied calmly.

“Are you sure you’re okay? Where did you go?”

“Somewhere I can’t see,” Victoria replied.

“What happened?”

“I don’t know. I’m confused about what happened,” Victoria admitted.

“Hi, Vic, this is Maria. Can you hear me?” The voice changed to Maria’s voice.

Victoria could feel their anxiety from their voices.

“Yes, I can hear it. Sorry, you must be surprised, Senior,” Victoria said.

“I was scared, you know, Vic!” Maria said then cursed.

“Sorry,” Victoria said feeling guilty for leaving Maria like that.

“It’s okay. But how are you now? Are you okay, Vin?” Maria asked again, taking over Sean’s voice.

“I’m fine. I’m safe,” Victoria replied.

In the hideout, Sean, Maria, Daniel, and Nathan gathered to track Victoria’s location. But it was not visible where the exact location was. Even though they couldn’t be tracked, they could communicate, was that possible?

“Where are you now? We can’t track you,” Maria said.

Victoria was silent.

“I don’t know where it is now either. But somewhere I don’t understand,” Victoria replied, admitting her confusion.

“Can you look around? What do you see?” Maria asked another question.

She was following what Maria said. Victoria looked around again where the technology on Robert and Luna’s plane was.

“Me, around me there is… hello? Hello?” Victoria called but the connection was suddenly cut off.

Luna’s gaze was fixed on Victoria flatly. Luna did it.

“I will analyse it,” said Luna who started to get busy with their sophisticated technological devices.

“What do you mean?” asked Victoria approaching Luna.

But Luna said nothing and chose to be busy doing something, making an analysis. Suddenly, photos of Sean, Maria, Nathan, and Daniel appeared on the screen along with their biodata. Luna accessed something that should have been confidential.

“What are you doing? Why are you accessing it?” asked Victoria.

“You don’t need to worry, Victoria. Luna won’t do anything, just to check whether there is a traitor among them or not,” said Robert answering Victoria’s question.

The girl’s attention was diverted to Robert.

“Traitor?” repeated Victoria who increasingly did not understand.

Robert seemed silent for a moment then nodded.

“We can’t be sure yet, but there is always a traitor among the others. In other words, there is someone who is given a more confidential task than the one you received. If you fail, then he will take over the task,” explained Robert.

Victoria was silent, not believing that her boss would do that.

“They’re clean,” Luna said after being busy with the transparent screen in front of her that was like a hologram.

Robert and Victoria’s attention was diverted to the screen showing the four people. There was a green mark explaining that the four of them were not what they thought.

“We won’t leak this confidential data, so you don’t need to worry,” Luna said coldly.

Victoria breathed a sigh of relief. But, wait a minute. Why did Luna and Robert analyze the four of them?

“Why did you do that?” Victoria asked.

However, there was no answer from either of them. Luna even got up from her seat, stood in front of Victoria, then walked past her.

“Come on, let’s get off,” Robert invited.

That made Victoria even more confused. What were they going to do? However, Victoria just followed Robert and followed the robot. The plane door opened, and Robert’s hand grabbed Victoria’s so they could disappear together.

Victoria was confused about where to go. Luna certainly didn't answer, but why didn't Robert say anything?

In her confusion, Victoria didn't realize where they were. Luna led the way, Robert still led Victoria's hand and even walked through a door that should have been familiar to the girl. Miraculously, Luna didn't need to knock, they could even go through walls just in disappearing mode. Victoria was stunned when she arrived at a room.

The four people looked restless. Sean tried to contact Victoria's watch again.

"Not connected," Sean complained a little annoyed.

Seeing Sean's unusual expression, for some reason Victoria couldn't say anything.

"Gosh. Where did this girl go? I'm going crazy!" Sean cursed, even looking like he was about to cry.

"Don't worry. I'm sure Victoria will be fine, Se," Maria said but the girl was not near Sean, only near Nathan, even getting closer to the man.

"But still, I'm worried. If something happens to that girl, I won't be able to..." Sean didn't explain further, his voice choked.

However, what did Robert mean by not showing himself there right away and making Victoria see him?

"What does this mean?" Victoria asked.

"Just pay attention," Robert said.

"If you're that worried, you should be nice to that girl, Se. For the first time since I've known you, this is the first time I've seen you that worried, you even look like you're going to cry," Maria said, sounding teasing.

Sean didn't answer, just sighed in frustration, and even messed up his usually neat black hair that was now messy. His facial expression was unreadable. Victoria who saw that was silent. Victoria's feelings became a bit strange.

"Maria is right, Se. You're always calm in any situation, but this time you're different," said Daniel who had been silent in the corner of the room.

Sean didn't answer, just stayed where he was.

Victoria's feelings were even more mixed up hearing their strange conversation.

"I'll signal their arrival," said Luna who seemed to realize Victoria's discomfort.

Robert said nothing and nodded and waited a few minutes so that no one would think that they were listening to the conversation.

Victoria followed Robert who pulled her hand to stay protected. The knocking sound made the four Luna people who had gathered a little surprised, they looked at each other and prepared to attack if something happened.

"It's me," Victoria said in her voice.

They were already in a hiding place so Victoria stepped forward into the room with Luna and Robert behind her. Because Robert let go of Victoria's hand, the girl was visible.

When Victoria met the four of them, they raised their weapons when they saw Robert and Luna behind Victoria. They were ready to shoot. Victoria remained calm but her hand was raised, even Luna seemed indifferent, and Robert remained behind.

"Calm down. I'll explain," Victoria said and slowly lowered her hand.

"What do you mean, Vic?" Maria asked warily.

"They came with me, to talk to you about something," Victoria said.

"Discuss what?" Nathan asked.

"I'll explain it so lower your weapon. If so, I can't explain it," Victora said again.

The first person to lower his weapon was Sean, followed by Nathan, Daniel, and finally Maria. Victoria breathed a sigh of relief. For the girl, the weapon her partner had was more dangerous than the weapons Robert or Luna had. The weapons they both had were more dangerous than man-made weapons. Victoria's gaze fell on Sean, she nodded slightly, and they sat down together. Victoria would explain it.
