24. Me, too

“What are you doing, Senior Boby?” Victoria asked as she raised her gun and prepared to shoot.

“As you can see, I’m doing my job,” Boby replied with a blank expression.

“Your job is to endanger humans? My job is to bring you here, right?” Victoria said.

There was no answer from Boby who continued to point his gun at Victoria.

“You realize that, right, Victori? That’s right. Your job is to bring Boby into the plane. Of course, I know what you’ll do in this situation. I also know that only you can stop this war. However, this is my power. You don’t have the power to stop me. So, surrender,” Ben said.

However, if Victoria surrendered and put them in greater danger, how could Victoria stay silent? By bringing technology into the plane, Ben could do anything, including killing Victoria or anything and anyone who got in his way.

“Hey Victoria, are you going to let your comrades and the others die?” Luna’s voice grew louder, making Victoria realize. “One of the refugee camps was successfully penetrated by those creatures. If you follow that man’s words, you will regret it for the rest of your life,” Luna continued to inform.

“I know, but I can’t shoot. Senior Boby is better at shooting. If I move that guard even a little, he will finish me off in an instant,” Victoria said.

“Are you scared?” Luna quipped.

“No. But—“

“Just do it. Even if that man dies, it’s better than hundreds or even thousands of people dying,” Luna said firmly.

Victoria fell silent.

However, Victoria faced her doubts. Knowing Boby as a tough, firm, and agile senior, how could Victoria possibly match Boby? The man was known as the best captain who led the special forces and always succeeded in his missions. Victoria’s level was still far below Boby’s.

“Sean!” The voice from the communication device was heard. It was Daniel who shouted Sean’s name. “Hey, hang in there,” Daniel said.

Victoria was surprised for a moment.

“How? You can hear his groans, right?” Ben’s voice came back.

“What do you mean?” Victoria asked, not understanding.

“That’s right. Sean is the one who is supposed to help you, but also the weakness that I can use to trick you, Victoria,” Ben said.

Unfortunately, Victoria did not understand what the man meant.

“Do you think I’m stupid? You’re so stupid, Victoria. Why do you think Sean is always near you? It’s because he loves you. So weak,” Ben insulted in a disdainful tone. “If you don’t give up and let Bobby take the device, you will lose the person who loves you. Not only that, you will also lose your precious family.”

Victoria was shocked by what Ben said. Did that mean Victoria’s family was being held hostage or threatened by the man?

“Wait, Sean. Damn it!” Daniel cursed on the other end of the phone.

Who knows what’s going on?

Sean was lying on the ground, looking like he was having difficulty breathing, and he looked in pain. They were both in a hidden place. If Sean couldn’t be saved, Daniel’s eyes would be on the creatures, and in the end, Daniel would also be a victim after surviving this far. Not only that, Maria also began to be overwhelmed by the attacks of ball-shaped creatures with frog-like legs, and their movements quickly attacked the surrounding environment, hunting humans to drink their blood. The creatures looked very hungry.

"Wait, Maria," Nathan's voice was heard.

"What makes you hesitate, Victoria?" Robert's voice took over.

"You want me to show you the current situation of the attack by the creatures, right?" Luna looked angry and without Victoria's consent, Luna displayed the current situation on the screen.

Connected to the screen on the plane, both Victoria and Boby could see firsthand the increasingly chaotic situation. Residents screamed, running aimlessly to save themselves. But it was all in vain, there were too many creatures.

The refugee camp guarded by military troops began to be overwhelmed by the attacks carried out by the monsters. Not only that, but the planes carrying the creatures continued to fall. On the other hand, Victoria's colleagues began to fall one by one to defend their camp and continue to protect its inhabitants.

"What are you waiting for, Victoria? You're going to let people die just because you're afraid to face that man? You're such a coward," Luna said.

Victoria's breath began to become irregular, appearing short of breath. The girl became confused, between following Ben or Luna. Between saving a few people, or saving hundreds or even thousands of people? The sacrifices made were not small. Not to mention, how many sacrifices did Victoria sacrifice to be able to get on the plane? What risks did the girl have to face?

"It's me," said another voice as Victoria looked confused. "Just listen, Victoria. This voice only comes once, do what you can. Save more people. Victoria, Dad is fine, don't believe what Ben says," continued the voice that was Victoria's father.

Hearing her father's voice made Victoria cry.

"Get ready, and face Boby. Make sure what you do is for the good of everyone. Dad and family are fine. However, you have to take care of yourself and be sure of your decision. Dad believes in you Victoria. See you after your assignment." The connection was cut off.

The communication line used by Victoria's father was the communication line used by Robert. That meant Robert made sure that his father and the others were fine.

"Just do it, Vic. Save more lives,” Sean said hoarsely.

Victoria had no idea what Sean was doing, and what was happening to the man.

“Let’s do it. I trust you,” Sean said again.

“Me too,” Daniel said as he cradled Sean’s head.

“Me too,” Maria added softly.

“And me too,” Nathan said, encouraging her. “So did Senior Boby,” Nathan continued.

Hearing what Nathan said, Victoria turned her gaze to Boby. It turned out that the man was signalling with his eyes.

“You know Boby never misses his target when shooting. If you move even a little, he’ll finish you off in one shot. So surrender, and hand over the device to Boby, then you’ll be safe,” Ben said, still giving orders, but this time his voice sounded frustrated because Victoria didn’t follow his orders. “Or, you can take the device and hand it directly to me, after that, you’ll get a better title and award.”

“Are you giving me an offer?” Victoria asked.

“Well, like that,” Ben replied.

"What's in it for me if I have to sacrifice many people for your interests," said Victoria and immediately fired a shot aimed at Boby.

Boby, who was alert, immediately responded to Victoria's attack. The two of them were involved in a gunfight inside the plane.

Victoria herself took cover behind the wall. Luna's voice hissed in annoyance. Even though Victoria only had to press a button that could stop the creatures.

When Victoria was a little off guard, Boby moved to take the technology on the plane, and inside it was a button to stop the strange creature's plane from coming to Earth. Victoria immediately stopped him and the two were involved in a fierce martial arts fight that they had mastered.

Boby himself looked like a robot, didn't talk much but his movements were so agile that he paralyzed Victoria, attacked and even stopped the girl's movements. However, Victoria didn't want to lose, so she rushed to press the button that Luna meant, but Boby always managed to stop her.

"If you want to do that, you have to kill me, Victoria," said Boby.

Victoria was shocked.

"What do you mean?"

"As you know in military law, whoever betrays, you will die. I think it’s better to die by your own hands than to be punished,” Boby explained.

“Crazy,” Victoria replied. However, the look in Boby’s eyes implied his sincerity. They both faced each other again, glaring at each other sharply.
