29. Goodbye

Victoria was still waiting to hear what the old man would say about his agreement.

“If I tell you now, you will leave and we will part ways,” the man said.

“Is that something that will make me come back?” Victoria asked.

The man nodded.

“Then say it. I will seek answers to my heart, and still want to live a good life, do fun things, help many people, and love that man with all my heart,” Victoria said.

The old man smiled broadly and nodded.

“You will come back. Give my regards to your father, and the man of your choice. Tell many things to our descendants later, Victoria. I will be waiting at the end of this road someday.”

Victoria smiled and nodded.

“And, give my regards and thanks to Robert,” she continued.

“Yes, I will. And my regards to Grandpa, Grandma, and Great-Grandma there.”

“Of course. May you be happy, my beloved great-grandson.”

They hugged for a while.

"Then I'll say, the agreement is, you will come back," he said.

As the man said, Victoria began to become transparent, and slowly her vision blurred and then felt a strong pull on her body.

The agreement said, only Alan Alexander's descendants could stop the strange creature's invasion by sacrificing themselves, but only her blood was absorbed by the creature's mother, and Victoria would come back after a while. That's why Victoria came back.

Dark. There was only black that Victoria saw when she slowly opened her eyes. Then the next second, the girl's breath was jerked, and she breathed quickly.

"Victoria is awake!" exclaimed Maria who was right beside the girl.

Everyone around the girl seemed to breathe a sigh of relief. Maria looked at Victoria with both eyes while saying, Nathan fell to the ground, Daniel who was standing a little far away sighed in relief when he saw Victoria was awake. While Sean, just stayed where he was, staring at the girl silently.

"You're back?" said Robert after Victoria caught her breath.

Victoria's attention was drawn to Sean who had an indescribable expression.

"You'll be fine now," Luna said after making sure Victoria had fully recovered, and checked some wounds, and stopped the bleeding from the wounds, and other wounds.

Luna nodded to Victoria before leaving her side.

"Get some rest. We'll start cleaning tomorrow," said Robert who knew that the humans looked tired.

On Robert's orders, Luna made a large tent that was specially made by them. Three men in one tent, two women in another tent. While Luna remained with Robert in a special tent that was between the others.

Night had begun to rule the earth, displaying a sprinkling of stars in the beautiful dark sky as if the sky was not guilty of the disaster that had occurred on the face of the human Earth. However, their beauty provided peace.

Victoria changed into another clean and comfortable uniform. The girl's left hand was in a cast because it was injured from a hard impact. In some parts of Victoria's face, there were wound plasters, even all over her other body.

While the others slept to recover their strength, Victoria got up from her folding bed and went out of the tent and accidentally met Robert who was staring at the sky.

"You met that old man, huh?" asked Robert without turning his head as if the robot knew Victoria was behind him.

"Yes, I met Great-Grandfather. Grandfather also left a message for me to deliver to you," said Victoria, pausing for a moment then lifting her face, following Robert's gaze to the sky. "He left a message for me, a thank you from him to you," Victoria continued while glancing at Robert.

Robert pulled the corners of his lips, forming a thin smile then nodded.

"I know," said Robert softly. "You're welcome, and to you, Victoria."

Victoria nodded her head.

"Grandfather told me a lot of things, including how you met. I came back because of the deal you made, so at least I should thank you too, right?" said Victoria then stretched out her hand.

Robert's attention was drawn to the girl's outstretched hand.

“Thank you for coming back, and helping me even though I know it must have hurt you too,” Victoria said. “However, if you weren’t there, we would have fallen apart so…”

“Enough,” Robert interrupted. “I don’t want to hear those words anymore. Because it would make it weird and awkward. So, thank you again, Victoria. Live your life well like you said,” Robert said and held Victoria’s hand.

The two of them then fell silent. Robert’s attention returned to the sky as if he was observing something. Victoria also looked back at the sky out of curiosity.

“What are you looking for?” Victoria finally asked.

“Pick it up,” Robert answered briefly.

Hearing that, Victoria fell silent and lowered her face. That meant, Robert would return to where he came from, right? What about the others? Luna? Those creatures?

Just as Victoria was thinking about Luna, the figure whose name was mentioned appeared with his gaze fixed on her hand, where the magical technology was always radiating there.

“I’m almost done, Robert,” Luna said as she lifted her face and looked at Victoria.

“Good. You are always great, Luna,” Robert praised.

But Luna did not respond and it seemed that it was normal for them because Robert was still staring at the starry night sky.

“So, do you want to go home?” Victoria asked after being silent for a while. The girl’s throat even felt tight.

Luna looked at Victoria, a little strangely.

“We have to go home. This is not our place. So, take care of yourself, Victoria,” said Luna who was standing in front of Victoria.

“When are you leaving?” Victoria asked again.

“One hour,” Robert answered briefly. “They will come,” Robert continued to Luna and Victoria at the same time.

“Okay. Let’s get ready,” answered Luna who seemed not to care about the emotional feelings that Victoria was currently feeling.

A larger plane landed shortly afterwards in the open ground where they were taking shelter. It turned out that Robert intended to use the land as his foreign runway. So big, bigger than a two-story house.

The roar of the large plane’s engine woke the others, Nathan was stunned, Daniel didn’t even say a word, Maria was no different, only Sean remained calm as usual.

“What is that?” Daniel asked.

“Robert’s plane. They’ll be back,” Victoria replied.

All eyes were now on Robert and Luna who were busy getting ready.

Several robots arrived shortly after. Victoria just realized that the cleaning robots carrying the motionless creatures inside were regularly entering the large plane that had landed. There were so many of them.

“Are they going to come back?” Maria asked reluctantly, just like Victoria who felt a little emotional earlier.

“Yes, we have to go back,” Robert replied who suddenly appeared near them.

“So, is this all over?” Nathan asked.

“Yes. I’ll make sure it’s all over. However, if it happens again, maybe I won’t be the one coming,” Robert said.

“Okay. Thank you for everything, Robert,” Nathan said who acted like a leader while extending his hand.

Robert nodded and returned Nathan’s handshake, as did Daniel, Maria, and Sean. Then Luna did the same. They had to board the plane early to operate some things, and while waiting for the cleaning robots to board the plane, everyone.

“Goodbye.”

The large plane began to fly again, and with indescribable speed disappeared, like something that was flying away. The people there were silent, stunned. However, everything was safe now.
