22- The truth music

Cassandra didn't know how she made it to work the next day, she felt like a zombie, lifeless and
without any purpose.
She sat down at her desk and began to work automatically, answering mails and
accommodating paperwork, ignoring people's stares and those of her boss, who she knew
was watching her through the glass panel in her office, she really didn't care.
She picked up a folder that the CEO had asked her to check and tried to remove the little
hooks that joined the sheets together, they wouldn't come out and the redhead began to
tremble and turn red.
-She tried to pull out the metal with her nails, because she didn't mind breaking them, she
had never had nice nails after all, but they wouldn't come out, "It can't be," she protested
with teary eyes, "Because nothing comes out right," she shouted and pulled the hooks out,
cutting a finger on the way.
She looked at the open wound, through which the thick, crimson liquid came out, and felt
more relieved, as if through that small wound all her sorrows and anguish were coming out.
She grabbed her hand by the wrist and stood mesmerized watching how the red line ran
down her hand staining her white shirt, with no intention of doing anything about it, even
though it was her only white shirt.
As soon as Sebastian saw that his secretary had cut herself, he jumped up from his seat and
ran to her.
-Helena...- he whispered to bring her to himself again, since the young woman had not
noticed his presence, she was still looking at the wound as if it were the most interesting
thing in the world, the young heir watched her worriedly, noticing that her eyes were watery
and that the sky blue color so characteristic now looked like the gray of a cloudy day, as if
they had lost that characteristic brightness.- Helena- he repeated coming closer and took the
woman's wounded hand with the intention of putting a handkerchief on it to prevent it from
bleeding any more. But as soon as Sebastian's skin brushed against the woman's cold, taut
skin, Helena came to in a loud jolt that made her boss walk away with his hands in the air as
if he were guilty of a crime.
The woman slid back in her rolling chair and brought her injured hand to her, shielding it from
the evil. She looked up with her big spherical eyes full of fear without being able to recognize
her boss, because her mind was telling her "Danger danger danger danger" Helena got up
and ran to the bathroom. Leaving the young man without knowing what had happened.
Carmen, who had seen the whole scene, got up to follow her partner.
Helena?" she spoke once she had entered the bathroom. The young woman did not answer
her, but she heard her sobbing from inside one of the cubicles, "What happened just now,
honey? Are you all right?
-No..." he said in a whisper after a while.
"I'm not well, nothing is well in my life. But I can't tell you everything that happened to me
What was the point?"
-What happened? You can talk to me," exclaimed the lady leaning against the cubicle door.
-Yesterday .... Social services came, they want to take my little brother away from me," she
sobbed.
-Oh honey, but you're a great sister to him, you give him everything," she sobbed.
-I know... but I'm afraid they'll take him away from me Carmen, he's the only precious thing I
have in my life, it's because of him that I do all this.
-Can I open the door and hug you?
-Yes..." she said pitifully.
The lady opened the cubicle door and Helena lifted her wet and red face.
-She cried for a long time on the woman's chest, until she finally calmed down because there
were no more tears to let go.
How are you feeling?
-Much better, thank you Carmen
-You're welcome, you'll see that everything will be all right.
-Yes.
Helena smiled, now much calmer and with a less swollen face, so as not to attract attention.
As both women left the empty bathroom, the door to the cubicle next door clicked open, and
out came Katlyn, who had been listening to the whole conversation in silence.
Helena was walking down the hallway toward her desk, but didn't reach it when her cell
phone rang.
-Hello," she paused, listening to what they were saying on the other end, and her face turned
to terror, "I'll be right there.
-What's wrong?
Luquitas is feeling sick, the nanny is taking him to the hospital.
-Go! Hurry up," exclaimed Carmen.
Helena came out of the building fuming, without even warning.
-What happened? Tell me he's okay," she shouted to the nanny who was sitting in the
waiting room.
-He's in the hospital, he had an asthma attack, I couldn't calm him down and I had to call an
ambulance," exclaimed the calmest possible lady, "He's stable now, you should talk to the
doctor.
-Thank you for bringing him
-You're welcome, child.
Helena ran to the doctor, who already knew her from having seen her on many occasions.
-Doctor, how is my brother?
-He's fine Helena, we've stabilized him, but he's going to have to stay here for monitoring for
a while.
-He's fine... thank you for taking care of him.
Helena walked crestfallen through the corridors of the hospital, she couldn't even see Lucas
and talk to him, not until he was in intermediate therapy. She arrived at the receptionist's
desk, as usual, to pay the new bills.
-Good morning. How much is it? he asked.
The lady didn't have to ask any more, she already knew the first and last name of the boy's
older sister who lived in the hospital.
-It would be about $20,000 in total, for the care and for the month of hospitalization.
The redhead had to hold on to the furniture to keep from falling to the floor because of the
tremendous news she had just received, her temples throbbed, a migraine started to appear
from the crown of her head and her stomach turned again.
"Okay Helena, you don't have the money, you're in debt up to your neck, but you still have
that reserve savings for Lucas' college, if the boy doesn't get cured he won't go to any
college, you have to use it if or if, then you're going to replenish it with all your effort."
-All right, I'm going to pay for it with my savings account.
-All right...
Helena handed him her bank account card and waited, drumming her fingers on the desk,
wondering if it had been the right decision or not. She'd been making nothing but bad
decisions lately.
-Excuse me
-What's the matter, not enough? I'm sure I have enough to pay off the debt.
-It's not that... it's just that there's no money in your account, it's empty.
The clerk looked worriedly at Helena, noticed how her face turned as white as paper and her
eyes got even bigger.
-Miss, are you all right?
Helena was staring at a fixed point in the distance, absorbed in her thoughts.
-We can make you a payment plan to pay off the debt.
-Yes, let's do that," Helena answered automatically.
Sebastian looked for Helena on every floor of the building.
"Where had she gone, was she hiding from him?"
As he hurriedly walked down one of the corridors he heard quick footsteps behind him.
-Helena?" he called out to her and turned around meeting the blonde-Ah Katlyn?
-Are you disappointed to see your wife instead of your idiot secretary?
-It's not that... I just needed some urgent papers and I can't find her anywhere," she lied.
-Ah... she can't even do her job well. Your beloved secretary is not here.
-How do you know that? Where is she?
-I heard her in the bathroom talking to Carmen's old lady, she went home.
-What do you mean she left? Without telling me?
"I had told her that she should report everything to him, I had promised her."
-She's a hopeless case, can you believe that the social services want to take her brother
away from her? That woman is a mess, I don't understand how she is still working in such a
successful company, maybe it's a drug thing? Maybe she's an addict and that's why she
never has any money... they better take that poor kid away from her, she's not a good
influence on him.....
Sebastian was no longer listening to what his fiancée was saying.
Helena had a little brother and he wasn't aware of it and the worst thing was that he was
having trouble with that, he felt terrible. He needed to get rid of Katlyn and go find his
secretary.
-Love, I must leave you, if my secretary isn't going to sort that out I must do it myself.....
-I know honey, you're such a boss, you should consider hiring another more competent
secretary.
-Yes honey, whatever you say
Sebastian gave his fiancée a chaste kiss to keep her satisfied and went up the elevator to
the human resources floor to ask the manager to give him all the information about the
redhead, he needed to find out her address and corroborate what was going on with the
woman.
