58- In her eyes memoriés
Mathew had to admit that she wasn't ugly, but she was no big deal to him either, used to stunning
women, with sculpted bodies and exotic faces. She had the biggest eyes he had ever seen and that
made him a little uncomfortable, the light blue color of her pupils was unique, like the sky, but on
a clear summer day, her lips were thin and delicately pink, her skin was so pale it looked almost
sickly, as if she had never been out in the sun, her nose was thin and upturned, dotted with a few
brown freckles, she had an expression of terror on her face that made his skin crawl. Strands of
her fiery hair fell in vertical lines across her face. Didn't she know a comb? She thought.
-Could you explain to me what you are doing in my office?" he demanded forcefully, startling the
woman and diverting her thoughts to the woman, "Are you following me?!
-No-no sir, that's not true, I'm here to....
-Are you one of those scammers who want to take my money? I'm not an idiot, I know how to
recognize one of yours....
Cassandra gritted her teeth and looked up at the arrogant man's face. The girl was not surprised to
meet almond-shaped eyes with pupils of a brownish color with tints of red, as if they were the
eyes of a demon that could pierce her skin and reach her soul. Cassandra swallowed saliva
nervously as she couldn't deny how elegant and beautiful he was, his ID photo didn't live up to his
face live and direct, his skin was a tan color that made her imagine that the ruthless man spent a
lot of time vacationing in Caribbean countries, his face was perfectly shaven, his skin looked
smooth and smooth worthy of someone of his class, with prominent cheekbones, pronounced jaw
and Greek nose, jet black hair perfectly cut on the sides and a little longer on top. He looked like
the perfect movie villain.
-That's not..." She tried to deny the accusation still stunned by the man's beauty.
-Get out of my office before I call the police. - He warned and stretched his long, slender arm
towards the door.
Cassandra stood up clutching the rag that dripped water, wetting her feet.
-I just came to clean up," she exclaimed, her voice trembling.
Mathew couldn't help but scoff with a grotesque chuckle, she looked pathetic.
-I can't believe that someone as dumb as you works in my company," he said.
Cassandra was astonished by the man's comment, she couldn't believe that someone so cruel
would be her boss.
-She also couldn't believe that someone so inhuman could be the boss of such a renowned
company," she muttered under her breath.
The man looked at her with his disturbingly black eyes.
-What did you say?" he warned.
Cassandra was frightened when she realized what she had said, she had to remember that she was
there for the money, to pay for her little brother's medical expenses, she had to be more patient
with the man.
-I said I can't believe they have such bad cleaning products," she lied biting her tongue and
trampling on her dignity.
With a frightened voice and intimidated by the predatory look of her boss she lowered her head
and said:
-I'm here to work, I'm sorry to bother you-.
Cassandra got down on her knees again and went back to scrubbing the floor, she had to put up
with it, she couldn't give up at the first mistreatment, she had to put up with his inhumane
treatment.
Mathew sat on his big, plush leather seat that looked like a king's throne doing nothing but
watching his employee clean by crawling across the floor.
He had to admit the woman was good at her job and that bothered him. He hated not being right.
He looked down at his half-drunk cup of coffee and in one swift motion threw it to the floor
shattering it and littering the floor with the brown liquid.
-You missed it there," he exclaimed in amusement, crossing his arms.
Cassandra had to swallow the urge to insult him and clenched her fists tightly on the wet rag.
Mathew noticed this and couldn't help but laugh out loud at his employee.
-What's the matter, are you feeling helpless? - he exclaimed, provoking her.
Cassandra paid no attention to him, and crawled towards the big stain, wiping it without saying
anything.
-Oh, come on! I know you want to hit me, so do it!
The girl started cleaning harder
"Concentrate on your work Cassandra, don't listen to him, he just wants to bring you down."
Mathew smiled amused
-Come on, get all that anger out of you!
Cassandra stopped scrubbing and forcefully wrung out the brown liquid, her face was almost as
red as her hair, choking with insults that wouldn;t come out.
Annoyed that the woman was ignoring him, he stopped laughing.
-Do it and you'll be out on your ass," he threatened in a hostile voice.
Cassandra felt the cold sweat run down her body. She took a deep breath and continued with her
work, ignoring her boss's insults.
Mathew leaned against his backrest, looking at her with bewilderment, he had to admit the
woman was tough, he could take her insults. Many other employees would have run away, or
cried or even shouted "I quit!". But the scrawny woman had said nothing.
After a while, Cassandra finally finished her torture, she had left the office so shiny that he could
see his own tired reflection on the black marble floor.
Mathew, who had been bored watching the woman work, with nothing better to do, watched as
she got up from the floor shaking the dust off her thin knees, one of them had an open wound
that he had not noticed until that moment. Had she done it to herself in the incident? The young
heir wondered.
"It's not my damn problem" he concluded.
His maid, stretched her long arms above her head and pulled all the hair out of her face, tying it
into a ponytail.
Mathew couldn't help but look at her differently, the hair in the ponytail gave her a more
provocative touch, the shirt rolled up and the last button of her shirt open, made him want to look
inside and find her small breasts. Cassandra adjusted her skirt, which had ridden up a little too
high. Mathew swallowed saliva and wished that the woman was once again scrubbing the floor on
all fours, but with her back to him.
Cassandra looked at him one last time before leaving, meeting her boss's leering gaze. She was
about to run away when the man caught her eye:
-Is that your way of cleaning?
-Excuse me?
-The place is filthy, you're not even good for a janitor.
Cassandra looked at the place with bewilderment, but it was sparkling!
-I'm sorry sir, I'm going to polish it one more time," she answered resignedly.
The man clenched his fists in annoyance, he hated the woman's submission and passivity.
-No! Go away at once! I have more important things to do
Cassandra stared at him in confusion.
-What are you waiting for? Get out!
The redhead stormed out of the office, slamming the doors shut.
That fucker!
She entered the elevator and looked at the time on her cell phone, she was still on time to be able
to hand in her resume for the secretary position, it was still a few minutes before three o'clock in
the afternoon.
She walked down several floors to the human resources area and ran the last few meters to the
office.
She peeked through the door
-Excuse me...
A man in his forties looked up.
-I came for the interview- Cassandra approached and timidly put the paper with her information
on the desk, it was crumpled and wet from the water from the street, she felt embarrassed, but it
was the only copy she had on her.
The man looked at the time on his wrist watch and then said with disinterest:
-I'm sorry, but we already closed the interviews.
-But there are still a few minutes left.
-It's already late, I'm sorry.
Cassandra closed the office door and walked shakily to the elevator, where she collapsed and
began to cry inconsolably.
She hadn't made it!
That bastard had mocked her, humiliated her, even almost ran her over, and for what?
Cassandra got off at a random floor and took the ruthless man's wallet out of her purse and
looked around, there was no one else. Angrily she took out the bills and threw the wallet in a trash
can, pocketing the money in her purse, she got back on the elevator without realizing that the
whole thing was caught on the security camera.
After the scrawny, graceless woman had left Mathew stopped
thinking about her for a second, knowing he couldn;t get her out of his mind, because he was an
obsessive and capricious man, he called his human resources manager.
-Sir?
-I need the name of the woman who did the cleaning in my office.
-I don't know who you mean, we haven't hired anyone yet.
Mathew tightened his grip on the phone's receiver, I knew it! That woman was an extortionist and
a phony.
A skinny, ginger-haired, disheveled woman.
-Oh yeah, she was late for the interview for presidential secretary, I had to turn her down.
Ah, so that was her intention, he laughed amused.
-Give her a new interview and give her the job.
