31- If I want Something I go for it
Sebastian let Erik and Katlyn hold him and prevent him from going to Helena to remove her from the clutches of her ruthless younger brother.
Had he heeded his more primal urges, he would have thrown off his grip to run after her, leaving Katlyn at the altar.
But no, he wasn't like that. The heavy family pressure to be the best and carry the company's success on his back had always weighed heavily on his young back.
His father, with whom he had had a cold and distant relationship all his life, had given him the role of successor leader, which was something he never asked for and never understood why he and not his brother, who had always wished to have his late father's position and had strived all his life for it, even so, the patriarch had made sure in his later years that the entire business community knew that he would be the heir and would do his best for the family business.
Therefore, the young CEO knew that many people, who were none other than the media, investors and shareholders, were looking forward to this big wedding. The heir was well aware of the impact it would have on his public image if he called off the marriage at that point and in such an abrupt and uninterested manner. He was sure that they would compare it to his work in the company, distrusting that someone with such capricious and immature impulses could manage an empire like Industrias Aller S.A.
Sebastian was a public figure with a high profile position in business, he could not afford a scandal and the negative repercussions for his reputation. Therefore, he took one last look with his black eyes that now seemed gray from sadness, towards the exit door that was moving in and out, marking Helena's tragic escape along with Alan.
The boy was desperate to go after the young woman, there were many things he wanted to ask her. But he had to go through with marrying Katlyn to keep Helena safe and protect her from further harm. For he had a feeling that, if he kept the engagement to Katlyn, those responsible for the video would be kept at bay, never suspecting that he would be behind the pursuit of justice for his hapless secretary. He wasn't sure who could have done something like that, he had had his suspicions on Katlyn or one of her acquaintances, but his wife's choleric reaction made him rule her out.
He needed to buy time so he could conduct a more thorough investigation, hire perhaps some expert, to find out who was behind the video and kill them if necessary. But in the meantime, he had to keep up the appearance that everything was in order, so he could move in the shadows and work in secret and protect Helena, even if he couldn't have her to himself, at least if she was safe he could endure his life of lies.
-Come on, get in my car, I'll take you home," indicated the youngest Aller, as he opened the passenger door of his shiny black late model car for Helena.
The redhead was so traumatized and devastated by what she had just seen that she simply obeyed and got into the car without a word of complaint. Alan closed the door and before getting in he turned one last time towards the party, there was no sign of Sebastian anywhere, that day he could walk away with the prize without a fight.
Alan drove through the city, away from the richest area and into the most precarious area, unable to help but think that if that beautiful and vulnerable woman would give herself completely to him and obey his every darkest desire he would give her the life she deserved, she should never worry about anything but being ready for him whenever he wanted her to be.
-I'm sorry about what happened in there," Alan spoke to break the long silence inside the vehicle.
Helena was looking out the window, turning her back to the driver, sunk in her thoughts and in the images that tortured her over and over again, she knew she would never be able to get that video out of her mind.
-Thank you..." she answered only out of politeness.
-I don't know who could have done something like that," he grunted, "But if I knew who it was, I swear....
-It's all right Alan, don't worry," answered the redhead feeling guilty for having provoked all that altercation, for some reason she felt she had a bit of guilt for all of it. If only she hadn't gone that day, if only she hadn't overdrank....
-It's going to be okay, right now I know it feels like it won't, that the pain will never go away, but I promise you that one day you're going to laugh at all of this
-I hope so...
Alan turned his onyx-black orbs towards Helena's back, her hair was pulled forward, exposing the only part of her body not covered by the white dress, her nape. He licked his thin lips and wished with all his might to stop the car right there in that dark alley and pounce on her, bite and savor that soft, rich skin smelling of cheap cream.
But he looked straight ahead and took a deep breath, restraining his urges. He had to be patient.
They arrived at the apartment, although Helena insisted on going up to her apartment alone, Alan wouldn't let her, with the excuse that he wanted to be sure the young woman got safely into his place. With no other choice, and a little more reassured that Alan would accompany her, she agreed.
-Thanks for the ride," Helena murmured through the open door of her apartment.
-No problem, it's the least I could do. Oh, by the way..." Alan took out his leather wallet with his initials embroidered in gold and from inside he took out a big wad of bills "Here...".
-And that?
-Your pay for today's work, you won the bet, remember?
-Oh...
By the disconcerting video, she had forgotten about her work and pay, after all, she had gone to the party to work.
-No... -She pushed Alan's hand away- I can't accept it, I've bothered you enough for tonight.
-I insist... Debts are debts.
Helena raised for the first time in all that time her face to the tall boy, and met his wide smile with wrinkles on the sides and slanted eyes that so much charisma was contagious, she didn't want to reject him and offend him.
-Thanks Alan- she sighed and put it in her pocket- you have been so good to me, I don't understand why....
Helena hugged herself with insecurity, lowering her face in embarrassment.
-Hey...- muttered the young man and lifted the girl's chin forcing her to look him in the eyes- Let no one and nothing make you lower your head, you're worth more than that video
The young man could notice the gleam of hope in those big, bulging sky blue eyes, he had her at his feet, he could walk into the house and possess her all night long and she would surely be happy to let him. But no, he had to continue with the role of a gentleman, she was going to beg him herself when the time came.
-I must go.
-Yes...Thanks again- exclaimed the girl before closing the door and sliding down to the floor, where she would spend the whole night curled up.
Alan returned to the party with one purpose in mind.
-What are you doing here," growled Sebastian, who had not been able to tear himself away from Katlyn all this time, "Go away," he warned, "I want to talk to your wife.
-I want to talk to your wife, apologize to her... Will you leave me alone, little brother?
Katlyn looked at the two furious men and for a moment she felt flushed that both of them were fighting over her.
It's okay Sebi, let me talk to my brother-in-law.
Sebastian walked away, obeying Katlyn, but still keeping his eyes on his brother from afar.
Alan apologizing for something? That was new and he couldn't believe it.
-Listen Katlyn, I'm really sorry about just now," he said.
- Why did you bring her Alan," the blonde sobbed.
-I have my reasons, but I don't know if you're going to trust me?
-Tell me, tell me you meant well and you didn't want to ruin my wedding," she pleaded.
"Actually yes, I would have loved for the wedding to be cancelled and for you to finally realize that you were wrong about Aller."
-Never dear!-He grabbed her hands, wanting contact with the woman- I would never do anything to hurt you, actually I did it to humiliate her-Promise to keep a secret? Secret of brothers-in-law?
-I... I don't know..." she looked at Sebastian who was watching them from afar.
-Don't pay attention to Sebastian- He ordered making the blonde look at him again in the eyes- He could be a handsome guy but no more than that- He sighed resignedly- Do you want to have a life with him?
-Yes, I do, with all my strength.
-Then you must know this, but it promises to be a closed box.
-I promise
-I've played the video
-What?!
-Yes, but not to ruin your wedding, but to humiliate her and let her know that she shouldn't mess with you.
-Alan..." She exclaimed blushing.
-Yes, and I took her home, I stitched her up and she understood that she shouldn't mess with you.
-Did you really get her to stop bothering us?
-Almost yes... What I need is for you to help me in some way.
-Do you want me to be part of your plan?
-Can you Katlyn? Can you do it to save your relationship with my brother?
Katlyn seemed to think about it, but there really wasn't much to decide. The woman really hated Helena and feared that, with her insistence on constantly buzzing around her husband, she would eventually succeed in snatching him away from her.
She was so blinded by jealousy that she let the fact that Alan had a video of dubious consent of Helena in his possession pass her by, all she wanted at that moment was to finally be happy with Sebastian.
-All right, I'll do it
-That's my girl," he answered proudly, "You must take Sebastian on your honeymoon right now, they get married and you take him with you.
-Now? But the trip is in a month
-Are you going to risk having Sebastian with Helena every day in the office for another month? He's barely been with the company for a month and he's wreaked havoc, I don't want to imagine what he'd do in another month.....
-All right, all right! You're right. And what will you do while we're gone?
-Leave that to me....
-I do," Sebastian replied at the altar, feeling like the unhappiest man in the world. Just a month ago he wouldn't have minded saying yes to anyone his father had ordered him to, but now he was beginning to feel that his heart, which had been padlocked a long time ago, was begging to be set free.
