Chapter 57 Music and worries
Cassandra heard the man curse and, frightened, she slowly stood up, feeling a sharp pain in her
knee.
- Can't you see where you're walking, woman? - he shouted harshly
The girl did not dare to look up, she felt ashamed for having caused the accident by not looking
when crossing the road.
-I'm so sorry," she exclaimed with her head down.
She didn't see the man's face, but just by looking at his perfectly polished black leather shoes and
tailored tailored pants of the same color she knew he was an important and powerful person, far
from having a life like hers.
-Next time watch the damn traffic light!
exclaimed Mathew with contempt, when he saw the exaggeratedly thin woman bowing in front of
him in shame. She's a board! Thought the young heir as he looked at her non-existent curves. He
couldn't see her face, because her long reddish hair covered her face like a cascade of fire, but he
was sure she was not very graceful.
-Excuse me!
The woman kept trembling and apologizing. Fed up with so much humiliation on his part, he
decided to return to his vehicle and forget about it, he had more important things to do.
He got into his late model luxury vehicle and honked at the woman, who had not yet moved out of
his way.
Cassandra jumped in fright at the honk and Mathew couldn't help but laugh at how ridiculous she
looked.
The unemployed young woman walked as best she could and got out of the way, as soon as she
set foot on the sidewalk the vehicle accelerated passing very close to her making her stagger and
turned at the corner of the big company.
Lunatic" she thought in bewilderment. She took her second step and realized she had stepped on
something bulky, she looked down, it was a purse, a very elegant leather one.
She took it curiously and opened it.
His eyes lit up in surprise when he saw that inside the wallet was a large wad of dollar bills, as
many as he had ever seen in his 24 years of life. That amount of money could pay off his debts and
more!
He took the ID inside and found a young and elegant face.
-Mathew Aller," he read aloud.
What did that last name sound like to her? She thought confused.
She couldn't remember, because her mind kept thinking about the money. The man had been
despicable to her, someone like that didn't deserve a nice gesture.
-No Cassandra, you're not like that," she challenged herself, "You're going to return the wallet to
its owner.
She put it in her purse ready to return it after the interview.
-What's all this mess?" shouted Mathew as he entered his new office and saw the furniture full of
dust, piles of papers and an unbearable smell of confinement. -Hey you!" He called the attention
of an employee who unfortunately was just passing by.
-Yes, Mr. Aller," she said, frightened.
-Why isn't my office clean and shiny?
-I'm sorry, sir, but I don't know....
-I don't want an explanation, I want action! Find out at once and solve it as soon as possible! - he
shouted throwing a notebook towards the door.
The woman ran out in panic looking for help
Cassandra entered the large building, and marveled at the large windows that illuminated the
imposing reception room of white marble and minimalist style. She looked at the large sign on the
desk of the beautiful and stunning receptionist.
Industrias Aller S.A.
Of course! Silly her, the ID said Aller. But did that mean she had the wallet of the owner of the
company where she was going to apply for a job?
Her stomach churned.
Oh my god, she had to give it back before they misunderstood her intention.
-Hi, excuse me, I was just coming..." He didn't get to introduce himself at the front desk because
the same woman who had crossed paths with the new ogre boss caught his eye.
-Hey you!" shouted the girl who came running straight towards her.
Cassandra was startled and clutched her purse tightly, where she had the wallet she had found.
Had she been discovered?
The woman grabbed her by the arm and pulled her tightly.
-Wait," Cassandra begged, "I swear I didn't....
-There's no time, the boss is here!
No no no no, they had caught her!
-I'm sorry, but I came here for the interview for the new position of...
Cassandra didn't make it clear that she was here for the secretary's position.
-There's no time for the interview, I need you to clean out her office before she kicks us all out.
Cassandra let herself be dragged along resigned that they weren't going to listen to her, I guess
she had to obey if she wanted the position, maybe it starts at the bottom literally cleaning floors.
The woman took her up the elevator several floors, and to be exact, to the top floor.
Cassandra felt cold sweat, she had never been in such a fancy place, she had always had low
paying jobs. She looked at herself in the elevator mirror and realized she was a mess, her knee was
bruised and bleeding, her legs and heels were splattered with muddy drops from the street, and
her hair was messy, plus her makeup had smeared from crying.
-We're here," said the woman.
Cassandra got out of the elevator and realized that the woman had not left behind her.
-Wait..." said Cassandra.
-Good luck," said the woman and closed the doors before she could say anything.
Cassandra was left alone in the long hallway, at the side of the road there was a bucket with water
and several cleaning products, she took them as she could and walked to the end of the hallway
limping in pain, she found a single reddish oak door with drawings of angry lions. The redhead
swallowed nervously and knocked on the door. She received no answer and entered.
-Permiso," she said, startled.
She saw that behind a large red oak desk similar to the doors was a man with his back to her,
looking out at the big city on the other side of the large window while talking on the phone in an
angry tone.
-I don't care if it comes out to a million dollars! You bring it to me anyway," he shouted into the
phone.
-Excuse me, sir," said Cassandra, trembling in a whisper.
-Alan? And what does my idiot brother have to do with all this? The CEO is me, so take care of it....
The girl put the products on the floor and rinsed the rag in the bucket mixing various liquids, then
rolled up her sleeves and dipped her thin arms in the ice water. He put the rag on the floor and
began to scrub on his knees, he felt a twinge of pain in his injured knee, he had to swallow the
moan of suffering.
Mathew was in the middle of a hot conversation with his accountant about whether or not to buy
the new watch that had come on the market when he felt a strong smell invade his nostrils,
stinging with discomfort.
