Chapter 48 Kate believed.

Kate believed.
Felix Freeman stood up and walked over from the back of his desk. His hands in his pants pocket and glared at Dare Wilson.
He has full faith in his men. They are not greedy, covetous and slippery finger types of men. Even Tina, the new detective,he has trust in her.
" If the evidence points to you as the culprit Dare Wilson, I will personally follow you up and see that you rot in jail.
For calling my men names, I will see that you eat up your vomit. But if it was discovered that you are innocent, of which I doubt if you would be, my men will tender a public apology for speaking ill of you" He declared.
Dare Wilson was sweating. The sweat was much to the extent that his suit was already drenched in sweat.
On his forehead were beads of sweat that were dropping and his eyes popping out red.
His looks had already betrayed him but he was still putting up a thick skin. He should have just surrendered and await his punishment, but no, he was struggling with the men.
When Dare Wilson heard the words of the commissioner, he was more perplexed. The only way out is not getting the evidence. If anything is shown, pointing him out as Kitty's killer, he is doomed.
What about Kate, will she still believe him and stand up in his defence? He subconsciously glanced at her and saw her eyes welled up in tears.
Had she already believed these men, that he murdered Kitty? If Kate turned her back on him, he would be finished. She is his backbone, and she is the one who has made him who he is.
"Did you also masterminded the attack on my colleague a few days ago and sent men to steal Jordan's car and lure him to his death?" Isabella asked, walking from behind Jordan and standing in front of the fellow in handcuffs.
She looked hostile as if capable of squeezing the life of the fellow in front of her. Dare Wilson glanced at her and looked away.
There is no difference between male and female detectives when they are at the point of duty. Who would believe that the person that spoke and glared at him, giving out vibes and aura of compression was actually a woman.
"Have you found another point to add to the present accusation against me? Are you not satisfied yet? Do you have something else to add?
Go ahead and keep mounting up accusations, my lawyers will contend with you in court and you will regret everything you have done here today.
I won't answer any more of your numerous accusations. I will leave the answers to my lawyers" Dare Wilson built a defence for himself.
He seemed to be confident of what he was saying while in the real sense, he was fidgeting and shivering inwardly.
Felix Freeman glanced at Jordan and saw his bandaged arm. He saw it was a fresh wound and knew it definitely was at the cause of duty that he encountered that.
"This happened today?" He asked, with his eyes still fixed on the arm. He felt sorry for Jordan. If this case was over, he would give him a sabbatical leave, he should go somewhere else and rest for a year.
" Less than an hour ago boss," Jordan replied. He looked at the arm covered in gauze and gently raised his head to glance at Dare Wilson.
He caught the fellow staring at his hand with an angry stare. He was caught off guard and quickly looked away when he saw Jordan looking at him.
"This is the mark of your bravery Jordan. And I promise that you will be compensated" Felix Freeman assured him.
Kate Wilson squinted when Jordan said it was less than an hour ago that he sustained that injury.
She looked at his face and saw marks that appeared like burns. His facial complexion was a little redder than the normal skin of his body.
Who was Dare talking to on the phone a while ago before he came here. She heard him talking about planting a bomb and blowing someone off.
Was it him, did he do it? Was he truly behind the attack? Are all these accusations levelled against him true?
"Who were you talking to a while ago and saying they should blow him off? You said they should plant a bomb in his car and finish him off.
You were even happy that they did their job well and promised to pay them handsomely.." Kate asked, turning sideways and giving her husband a questioning stare.
Dare Wilson practically shivered. What? Kate heard him when he was talking to those men? She really was eavesdropping on his conversation?
She had created a loophole in his defence. He didn't know she heard. If he had known she heard him,he would have broken her neck and thrown her into the sea.
What will he do now? How can he defend himself before the stare of all the eyes fastened on him?
"Answer that question Dare Wilson?" Felix Freeman ordered. It is so glaring that they all understood those lines in relation to what happened to Jordan and his team.
"You are talking nonsense? How can you ask me such a question? Were you hallucinating or you had a dream from your short nap?
Oh I see, this is the effect of the sedative the doctor gave you. But it's not your fault, whatever doesn't come naturally is sometimes leaving unpleasant experiences behind..." Dare Wilson was twisting the question and trying hard to denounce it to be true.
"I am not a kid Dare! I know when I dream, hallucinate and when I hear things with my ears in a conscious state. And don't you dare play dumb with me here.
I am ready to find my daughter's killer and see that fellow suffer the same fate and join her in the place beyond where he had sent her.
And if that fellow is you, I am ready to see justice done. Kitty deserves it. She was my daughter, my only child..." Kate was yelling now and her tears gave way.
" Calm down madam. Everything will be unravelled and whoever was found guilty will be prosecuted" Felix Freeman declared.
" My car was stolen a few hours ago and I tracked it down to where the thieves took it to. But they lured me and would have killed me hadn't my men arrived on time.
At the last, the leader of the gang wanted to blow us off together with the bomb, but thanks to Tina, she saved us all.." Jordan explained to the commissioner and of course everyone present heard.
Felix Freeman was surprised. Such a thing happened that day and he was just getting to know? So his men would have been blown off to their death already?
Just then, Tina walked in with some documents and a laptop. Dare Wilson glared at her, are those documents pointing to the truth?
Soon, they saw the video of how Dare Wilson got into the hotel and his room number. How he later walked out with a heavy bag obviously containing Kitty and Pascal's corpse.
The day he left the hotel and headed home, the clothes he wore and the car he drove off. They also showed his statement of account, how he paid for his hotel room from his credit card on the same day.
The autopsy report matches his medical information which Jordan obtained from his personal doctor for investigation purposes.
The audio recording of Rebecca and what Collins Bruno also said. When all was finished, there was a needle dropping silence.
Kunle also walked in with one of the men who Dare Wilson had hired. He was shirtless and his hands were handcuffed. He testified against Dare and pointed at him as the client who hired them to do all the atrocities committed.
The attack on Tina, the murder of their colleague in the hospital and Jordan's car that was Stolen were all done at his bidding.
Kate had been sobbing quietly until suddenly she cried out loud. She yanked at Dare Wilson and was going to scratch his eyes out when she was held.
"Please forgive me darling, it's the devil that pushed me to that end. I was jealous of her being with that poor boy and I had her strangulated out of anger.
I swear I regret my actions. Please I love you..." Dare Wilson was now sobbing like a child.
"You will rot in jail Dare! For what you have done, you will have no good end..please take him away" Kate Wilson screamed out.
Devil pushed him? Then that devil will push him to the end. She had trusted him and made him the father of her daughter.
Is this how he paid her? Sleeping with her daughter and even killing her. How can a man do that to the child who calls him father?
It was her fault. When Kitty asked her who her real father was, she refused to tell her. That drifted them far apart and she never knew anything about her daughter again.
She regrets that she never got to answer her questions and tell her who her father was. Now, she died from the hands of the father she forced on her.
Dare walked out of the commissioner's office handcuffed. The game was up,his end had come and at this point, all that awaits him is a miserable end.
As Dare walked out of the force headquarters in handcuffs, he saw journalists and pressmen waiting to have him interviewed.
The camera's all pointing at him, the photographers taking snapshots and everyone using their phone to make one recording or the other, he bowed his head.
Shame, disaster and failure have ended his life now...
Obsessed with his Past
