Chapter 45: Falling heads over heels for her betrothed!

Upon seeing the hard work and effort put in by the Queen as well as Caro Silva, Selena didn’t quite have the heart to inform them about her little conversation with the Falak dragon, lest they get heartbroken and loose hope.
As for Selena, she was determined to win, even if it meant going against her own goddamn fate. She had started training harder than ever, visiting more than often to the villages to get an idea about how their citizens were living. She genuinely started to care about the affairs and matters going on in her kingdom and even the Queen, herself was surprised and taken aback by Selena’s abrupt change in attitude and viewpoint. Now it felt like, instead of wanting to be a Queen who wanted to rule, she genuinely wanted to be a Queen who served her people with kindness and sincere affection.


The incident about Vanessa being hung up in the air by the first princess was spread widely, further humiliating Vanessa and causing a severe blow to her reputation as well as her pride and she and her mother warily steered clear of the first princess and didn’t even attempt to engage in a banter whenever they ran into each other. But it was obvious from the calculating gleam on the royal concubine’s face that she had absolutely no intention of letting things go and that she was merely bidding her time, waiting for an opportunity to strike back, getting revenge for their humiliation.

Selena let out a sigh in satisfaction as she leaned against her fiancé, taking in the marvelous view unfolding in front of their eyes. Caro had made sure she got a much-deserved break from her usual training sessions with her royal guard and her foster father, the General and had sneaked her outside the palace and on top of a mountain, without anyone quite knowing about it. There were still quite near to the palace though, so they weren’t in any real danger.

Selena nonchalantly leaned against Caro’s shoulder as she took in the beautiful sight.
Caro played with the rogue strands of her hair teasingly, then put it against her ear so that he could get a good look at the face he admired. She was the most beautiful woman in his eyes and no one else could ever compare to her, in his ardent opinion.
Then he bent his head down slowly and kissed her forehead affectionately, content and happy that she had finally started opening up to him and being comfortable with him.

And Caro was willing to wait and give her more space until she eventually becomes comfortable with the idea of them being together for all eternity. He was fine with waiting as long as she gave him a fair chance at her heart.

Selena tilted her head slightly at Caro and asked curiously, “What is it about me that attracted you? I mean, you literally have all the women in the kingdom flocking towards you? Then why? Why me?”
Caro locked his elegant green eyes with Selena’s and said simply, while shrugging his shoulders nonchalantly, “I know it sounds vain, but I fell for you at first sight. The way you had haughtily made eye contact with me in the throne room captured my attention initially. Then after I came to know more about you and your childhood, I fell for you completely. I love everything about you from the way you gleam mischievously whenever you are up to something sinister to the way you scrunch up your nose when you are annoyed. But most importantly, I fell for you when I realized that you were a woman worth fighting and dying for. Though a part of me was jealous seeing you enter so carelessly into the Labyrinth of death just like that ferociously to save your friend, a part of me was awed by your courage and loyalty towards your friends and family. You are an amazing woman, Selena and any man would fall for you, what was poor old me supposed to do?”

Selena sucked in a sharp breath as his long monologue ended and smiled at him, her eyes softening at his heartfelt confession. Though he was a little bit old fashioned and male chauvinistic for her taste, she couldn’t resist the budding feelings she felt towards him and for once, she decided to give into it rather than fight it and found herself wondering whether she should give their alliance as well as their union a fair and honest chance too.

Caro looked into her eyes again, and it was as if he was looking deep and that he could see right into her soul.
“I love you, Selena”, he said simply, praying to god that was simple enough to make her feel his sincerity. He wanted her to accept him wholeheartedly upon her own will rather than because of a decree of marriage as ordered by the king.

Selena, not knowing how else to respond to his abrupt confession, leaned forward and gave a soft peck on his lips.

Caro froze as Selena came near but was disappointed when he realized that she had only intended for a quick peck. Gaining confidence because Selena wasn’t trying to shove him away anymore, he grabbed her head and pulled it towards him. And now it was Selena’s turn to freeze as she felt Caro’s right hand at the back of her head, holding her in place while his other hand, wrapped in seductively around her waist, pulling her towards him.

He eyed her luscious, full lips hungrily, his vampire instincts kicking in, adding more fuel to his insatiable hunger and lust for his woman. Without hesitation, he began to devour her lips ferociously, hungry for more. Selena found herself arcing her back in response, her legs going week with the intensity of his kiss.
She sucked in his under lip sharply in response and he let out a moan of pleasure, not able to hold on much longer. They broke apart after a few minutes and looked hungrily at each other, clearly having no intention to stop any soon and wanting more. His eyes travelled down to the nape of her neck and gulped seductively. Selena getting the inference when his fangs started showing up, pushed aside her hair and offered her neck to him. After a slight pause of hesitation, Caro bit into her neck, caressing her soft, pale skin, the color of snow.

His eyes flashed red as he started getting turned on and Selena let out a moan of pleasure, persuading him to bite in further, getting turned on herself and squirming uncontrollably at the effect Caro was having on her.
