Chapter 59: The duel of the Kings!

Selena smiled evilly at the concubine and her daughter as she felt the presence of water in the ground on which they were standing. Her mind already formed the perfect revenge plan. Her men had poisoned her sister and drowned her in the river next to her foster father’s clan. Maybe she should drown the lot of them too?

“Maybe I should get rid of you the exact same way you did for my sister?”, she stated snidely and the concubine eyed her warily, then not wanting to take any risk, snapped her fingers at the assassins surrounding her.
The concubine was slowly starting to loose confidence and was working herself into a panic seeing Selena’s rather confident posture despite seeing the army of battalion behind her. In fact, Selena wasn’t the least bit concerned about the assassins standing right next to the concubine for she had eyes only for the concubine and her conniving daughter.

They immediately flocked towards the front and made a sort of protective circle surrounding them from all sides completely and then stared both Dominic and Selena down, eyeing keenly every moment they made.
Dominic being bored, decided to end it all in one go and he seemed to be concentrating on something. His power being telekinesis, you never what he is up to until it is too late and the deed is done.

Soon, the guards around them were flown towards the sky and they were thrashing and turning to get their foot down but to no avail. Selena smirked appreciatively at Dominic for having got rid of one of her troubles, then fixed her eyes on the mother daughter duo in front of her.
The concubine watched with an open mouth as the men she had brought with her wailed in the air helplessly, unable to get out of the hold of Dominic Vanheusan.
Selena smirked at the concubine seeing that her confidence was long gone and was replaced by sheer fear. Now the prey had become the hunter and vice versa.

“I warned you countless times to not stray from the boundaries but you were so determined to get rid of me that you foolishly forgot that I was one of the most powerful vampires in this world. This arrogant mistake of yours is going to cost you and your daughter’s lives.”

Selena smiled smugly then snapped her fingers and the ground broke off into two and as expected, water flooded the makeshift pit that she had just created. Selena shot a look at Dominic and he nodded at her, getting her intentions, then closed his eyes and concentrated and now the concubine and her daughter found themselves being moved up into the air helplessly and Dominic made sure that they fell to the pit along with their assassins. Within minutes the handywork was done and Selena smiled smugly at Dominic, satisfied that at last she had kept her only promise to her fallen twin sister. The pale face of the concubine when falling to her death would forever be etched on to her memory very sweetly.

Dominic winked at her and declared proudly, “I think that the both of us together is a very dangerous combo.”
Selena nodded at him and replied, appeased by his rather ardent declaration “Both of us together are invincible. No amount of army battalion can defeat us if we stay together.”

Dominic winked at her and murmured seductively, “Now only if stay together”
Dominic then smiled at her, accessing her every reaction to his words and actions, then closed the distance between the two of them and asked slyly, “Now, where were we before the interruption by those darned rascals?”
Selena flushed as she remembered the heated kiss moments before they were interrupted by the concubine and her men.

She hastily let go of his hand, feeling shy all of a sudden and strode back the very way they come from, with Dominic right at her heels, his face happy with excitement that he had made her so embarrassed that she wasn’t even looking at him anymore.
Long gone was her superior and unconquerable attitude, right now she was just a woman in front of him. He was satisfied that he had at last got through her impenetrable barriers and got to her so devilishly.

As they reached the palace once more, Selena stopped outside the entrance to her wing of the palace and stared at Dominic blankly as if contemplating something.
Dominic smirked at her and said teasingly, “This was a perfect date, wasn’t it? We kissed, then we murdered a bunch of vampires….absolutely perfect!”

Selena’s otherwise poker face broke into a smile and she hit him playfully and he pretended to be hurt by it.
This was far from the type of dates she was used to and it pleased her that at the time of need, Dominic hadn’t even hesitated to come to her aid and had supported her without her even asking him to. Had the battle gone the opposite way in favor of them, Dominic could have got into trouble for attacking the royal family of Valyria, but he had taken that risk without even batting an eye lid.
He then tucked a rogue strand of hair that was sticking out stubbornly to her forehead and brushed it aside behind her ears and she froze, taken aback by the rather sweet and carefree action.

Selena found herself smiling widely at the man in front of her and on an impulse, she raised herself on her tiptoes and pressed a good night kiss on to his lips and before he could react or comment to it, she entered the palace without even looking back, leaving him all flabbergasted and dazed in the night all by himself.
As he made his way back to the guest palace where he and his father as well as his men were currently residing in, he was content and happy and was smiling to himself like the fool he was.
Everything about her enticed him, starting from the ways he glared down at him to the way she sweetly smiled at him while bidding good bye.
As he however entered his room, his smile froze on his face for a second before it was replaced by a maniacal scowl for his father was seated in his bed, clearly waiting for him to come back from his nightly endeavors.

He looked proudly at his son and asked him slyly, “I was out for a night stroll and you will never guess what I came across.”
Dominic already knowing what his father had been up to by spying on him, eyed him warily as he closed the door behind him.
Mr Vanhuesan immediately jumped on him and started praising him, “This is a brilliant move, son. Even if you loose in the Kings duel at the Labyrinth of death, you will have a back up plan. Taking her as your Queen would eventually get you control of Valyria too.”
Dominic eyed his father warily and didn’t bother to correct him and come clean that it was never in his intentions, because he feared that his father would cause a mayhem if he were to find out that Dominic truly adored and loved Selena and had absolutely no intention of using her at all.
