Chapter 78: The ethereal Royal Wedding!

The General and Mr Vanhuesan was currently staring down at each other, each of them waiting for the other to make their first move. The General was at a crossroads as each path in front of him would certainly lead to the downfall of Valyria and he was dragging it out as far as possible and simply wasting time by pretending to be deeply contemplating over their rather sly proposal.

Mr Vanhuesan’s eyes lit up and the General followed his gaze and froze as he saw Dominic Vanhuesan approach the battle ground dragging a defeated Selena with him. The General frowned as he saw that Dominic had a firm hold on Selena. Just as Caro had predicted Selena hadn’t quite fared well on her own, being over powered by the sheer number of her powerful oppressors.

The General cursed his luck internally as he saw his daughter being dragged helplessly towards the grounds and felt his last hope shattering right in front of his eyes.

Mr Vanhuesan shot a smug look at the General, now confident that the ball was in their hands while the General frowned at the two of them as they neared them.

Selena shot an apologetic look at her foster father, guilty for having decided him but on an edge, she had decided to trust Dominic and play along with him for now. After all, the milk was already spilt and the die was already cast.

“Your Empress is now in our hands. Surrender and you shall live to see another day.”, Mr Vanhuesan declared proudly and Dominic shook his head at him and immediately corrected his father’s words as he said, “You don’t have to surrender and you can get to keep your kingdom.”
His father shot him a surprised look and narrowed his eyes dangerously at his son while the General too didn’t trust a Vanhuesan’s intentions and prodded further, sensing that there was something else to come in place of it, “But?”

Dominic flashed the General a toothy grin, impressed by the General’s sharpness, while simultaneously tightening his grip on Selena and said, “We propose to enter into an allyship. Our enmity had been going on for over centuries now and it is only fair that we put an end to it. The times have changed and our race is going into extinction because of the human’s unwanted interference in our life. We shouldn’t be fighting amongst ourselves.”

The General furrowed his eyebrows at Dominic, wondering whether the young lad standing in front of him had lost his mind and had gone bonkers as his words were all over the place and making quite a lot of sense either.
Dominic’s eyes twinkled mischievously as he eyed the General intently as he explained further patiently, “Let us join once and for all”

The General scoffed at him in indignation and asked in a tone of disbelief, “Join? How?”

He then took Selena’s right in his and raised their joint hands towards the air and declared smugly, “Well, join by marriage, of course. With that Valyria would be free of all trouble and would stand stronger than ever before.”

Selena sucked in a sharp breath, realization finally dawning on to her as Dominic’s crazy plan finally made absolute, perfect sense. Her eyes softened at him as she realized that this was what he was aiming for all this time and she had painstakingly doubted his good intentions.
She knew she had to be mad at him for coming up with such an incredulous plan and worrying her needlessly but her heart melted at the thought that he had put quite a lot of effort into this to ensure that they do end up together and no one would dare stand in their way and oppose their marriage.

General eyes flashed in understanding as he got the intention behind his words. This would make a pretty good deal but Dominic’s father didn’t look to happy about it but considering that it was definitely a win-win for both the parties involved, reluctantly nodded his head at the General, formally consenting his agreement to his son’s proposal as well, though being unhappy and sulky that his son hadn’t taken the liberty to inform him first hand that side of his plan.

The General briefly contemplated the proposal. If the Valyrians and the Vanhuesans joined their hands together, there was no kingdom in this world that would be their equal, much less their rival and judging by the way Dominic sneaked a peek at Selena every now and then to ensure that she was alright, he suspected that his feelings for Selena was real and not just for show despite his false pretenses.

And his hold on Selena’s throat wasn’t dire or serious as well and she could easily get out of that hold and have him flipped on his stomach within a blink of an eye had she wanted to, because having personally trained Selena himself since childhood, he was well aware of her capabilities and immediately saw through their sly, little plan and knew that she was faking it and just pretending to be over powered by him when in reality, she had no intention to fight him at all in the first place.

Realizing that his daughter too shared the same feelings for him, he decided not to be an oddball and stand in their way of happiness and nodded at the lot of them, agreeing to the deal. He shook his hands firmly with Mr Vanhuesan, agreeing to the proposal. He eyed the old man warily as he realized that he was the only one who didn’t know about Dominic’s very obvious plan and eyed the young lad with new found respect as he had managed to trick his own father just to get married to the woman of his dreams….. The General was sure that Dominic was a man who would move heaven and hell without question for Selena and relaxed visibly, sensing that his foster daughter was in right hands nevertheless.

Dominic stood nervously in their joint room. It was their wedding night. He had finally done it. He had married the love of his life without any drama from his clan or hers or any opposition from the council of elders.

He was waiting for his bride to arrive patiently and was wondering what was keeping her so long.

His father didn’t suspect anything at all and truly believed that they were now married only for political purposes and even their citizens were kind of forced to accept their sudden marriage. His grand uncle had seen right through his plan at the wedding and he had smiled at him, consenting to their wedding as well. Dominic was overcome with joy as finally he could spend the rest of his life with the woman he loved.

On the other hand, Selena was being stopped by her mother, just outside their room.

“If this marriage is not according to your preference or against your wishes, just say the word and I will break it, no matter the consequences.”, she stated firmly, her arms crossed over her chest in indignation and Selena found herself rolling her eyes warily at her mother. She sometime wished that her mother could be like normal moms and be a tad less overprotective and overbearing and stop interfering in her daughter’s life this much, despite her best intentions as her undue interferences usually caused Selena a lot more trouble than help.

Selena then remembered how she had messed up hers and Caro’s relationship for her daughter’s supposed wellbeing and Selena shot a firm look at her mother and let out a sigh as she said,
“Mom, I beg of you to not get involved in our matter. We had taken painstaking efforts to get married to each other and I beg you not to let all our efforts go to waste.”
Both of her eyebrows jolted upwards in surprise and Selena watched her mother’s expression in amusement as she finally realized the hidden meaning behind her words and made an ‘Ah’ with her mouth.

Selena let out a giggle, seeing her mother’s baffled expression and said, “Don’t worry this time, mom, for I assure that he is the one I want to spend my eternity with.”
She smiled at her daughter and nodded, nudging her to go inside the room, not wanting to keep her from her man any longer.

The Queen dowager took the hint that her presence was no longer needed in there and she was being more of a nuisance than a help and promptly excused herself out.

Selena hesitated for a split of second before going into the room and Dominic immediately sprang from the bed as he saw his bride finally enter their room.

Without any hesitation, he strode forward confidently and closed the distance between the two of them within a blink of an eye.

Selena eyed him mischievously and declared haughtily, “Just so we are clear, I am always in charge.”
Dominic flashed her wolfish grin and gave a mock salute and said solemnly, “Yes, ma’am.”
She grinned at him and Dominic, not being to wait patiently any longer attacked her mouth ferociously, kissing every inch of her sweet lips.

Selena arced her back in response, moaning out loud in pleasure as his tongue explored every inch of her mouth. She felt at bliss and that a huge burden has been shifted off her shoulder. She broke the kiss and eyed him intently, breathing heavily.
She knew instantly that with him by her side, she could fearlessly conquer anything that comes her way. She smiled at him and then bend her head once again and continued kissing him.
