20. Fuck-buddies

CHAPTER TWENTY
Sasha lay naked on Christian’s bed, drawing circle on his bare chest. They weren’t anything more that fuck buddies-have been for the past few weeks-and they intended to keep that way. She had been nothing but a wreck after the war and to make it all worse, her best friend had completely abandoned her. She had tried to pull herself together and almost fell right into Danny’s arms until she snapped out of it. In a bid to escape the loneliness, she’d run into Christian, the plumber she’d hooked up with when he came over to fix their shower. Given that he’d moved in across the street way before the war happened and had been one of the humans to survive an almost apocalypse moment they didn’t even know about, he’d been the perfect distraction for her.

“You are distracted,” He said, running his fingers through her hair. She looked up, flashing him a smile with the hopes to camouflage what exactly she was feeling.

“I have to go back to New York,” she sighed. Well, that was not exactly a lie. Her boss had been calling her non-stop for the past two weeks, given that she had extended her holiday longer than needed.

A crestfallen look crossed Christian’s dark brown eyes but he was quick to hide it, with a casual shrug.

“And here I thought I was going to get more sex and booze evenings,” He half-joked.

“A girl has got to put something on her plate,” she smirked, stepping off the bed aware of the evening cold chills. It had been surprisingly cold of late when it should be summer. She wouldn’t be lying if she said she missed lying on the beachy sands with the sun warming her skin in nothing but a two-piece bikini. But she couldn’t just ditch the town without knowing her best friend was okay. She was all she had left now.

“I could work for both of us,” he said, spanking her ass, earning a gasp from her.

“No offense but I doubt you can handle me, pretty boy,” she said, heading towards the shower.

“Pretty body?” He raised an eyebrow.

“What? You can kill a fly?” she questioned, almost sounding amused.

“You have no idea how much I can handle,” It sounded like a promise, a very naught one if she might add.

She just smirked, got into the shower, preparing the bathtub before getting in. For a while, she let the warm water lap against her skin as her eyes remained close. The one perk of being here was literally the bathtub. And Christian’s surprisingly good cooking skills. And the free alcohol. And definitely the sex.

But she missed her best friend. Her job. Her perfect, fun life in New York. And Danny. She missed the latter the most. His touches. His searing kisses. And how he’d fucked her back in Vegas like there was no tomorrow. She wanted that again and more. And yet just everyone else, Danny had cast her aside. Not once had he attempted to contact her and there were times she’d wondered if she’d accidentally blocked him or maybe something was wrong with her phone. Maybe she had been the only one with a growing attraction towards him. Perhaps all he’d wanted was a one-night stand.

“Just got a new gig. Better hurry up in the shower,” Christian shouted from the other side of the door, making her eyes flutter open.

“Coming out,” She said, stepping out of the shower and grabbing a towel from the clean rack. She tied it around her before walking out of the bathroom.

Christian was quick to jump off the bed, her eyes briefly falling into his manhood and boy was he loaded. On noticing Sasha’s gaze on his dick, a smirk grew on his face.

“A man has got to put something in his plate,” He then leaned in, “But I’d definitely be available after work,”

He walked past her as Sasha tried not to stare at his manly butte longer than necessary. She would be lying if she said the man wasn’t built by the Greek gods themselves. Sometimes she wondered why he hadn’t optioned for modelling as a career instead of feeding into the thirsty housewives’ eyesight with his plumbing. God knows who many of them had lied about needing his services just so they could try to seduce him. Sasha snarled at that thought but then realized she would have totally done the same thing if she was in their position. She could hear him humming something incoherent as the shower ran.

She changed into one his shirts, walking into the living room and straight into the open kitchen. She rummaged through the cupboards until she laid her hands on some packets of nachos. A satisfied smile reached her lips as she grabbed three of them and two orange juice boxes from the heavily stocked fridge before heading back to the living room. Positioning herself in a comfortable position, she let got ready to start binge-watching Netflix like she had been doing for the past few weeks. It was the only other way apart from alcohol and sex that she knew how to deal with her own pain.

“I’ll be back in a jiffy and are you eating junk again? Oh, Sasha. I might have to put a leash on you,” Christian said, smiling in complete amusement.

“You can try,” she said, without looking up.

Moment after Christian left, her phone rung and she was about to ignore it thinking it was her boss again but much to her disbelief it was Nadia. She felt her heart pick up speed as she received the call.

“Nadia?” She whisper-asked.

“Hey. Can we talk?”
