What's In A Kiss

POV: Alexandra

Given the topic of conversation that Meldon and I had on our outing a few days ago, I was firmly convinced that Jess was in love with Derek. Yet, beyond explanation, she was kissing Meldon as he was pinned to the floor and he was not putting up a fight either. I cleared my throat and Jess looked up at me and smiled, “Oh hey, Alexandra.” I gave her a pointed look, “Is that all you have to say?” I looked down a Meldon who was also smiling, “Hey gorgeous.” I looked up a Blake who looked just as confused as I felt. Jess popped up and wrapped an arm around me, “What? Am I acting strange or something? You two look like you’re about to run away and call for a Pretre.” She laughed and pinched my cheek then tapped it. I shook myself from her and ask, “Are you drunk or something?” She smiled and shook her head. Meldon had gotten to his feet with a smile on his face. He walked over and stroked my face, “So beautiful. What would you say if I kissed her?” He was talking to Jess at that point who had a pout on her face. She crossed her arms, “You can’t.” He pulled his hand away from my face, “A pity, your lips look so delicious.” He went behind Jess and wrapped his arms around her waist, “We should tell them now that we’ve messed with them enough.” Jess sighed, “Ruin my fun.” He shook his head and pecked her cheek, “You know we aren’t here to have fun. He sent us.” She broke free from his embrace, “I suppose my lover is right, we are here for a purpose.” She stuck out her hand, “Nice to meet you I am Hera and the man possessing your friend is Zeus.”

I looked over at Blake who seemed a bit panicked then back at Hera. I shook her hand so I didn’t leave her hanging, “It seems you already know my name but this is Blake. Not be rude but…why did you possess our friends?” She smiled, “The All Mighty sent us. He believes that a semi-mortal was possessed by the one who cursed you. He wanted us to try this out on your friends since they are in a meditative state. He also had a message for you as well.” Zeus stepped forward, “He wanted you to know that the cheeky little shit that decided to curse you will be found and punished severely. Also, to let Aphrodite know the next time he makes an appearance. He knows you know of the last time he showed up and was a little upset you didn’t say anything. You don’t want to get on His bad side, He’s wrathy and judgmental.” Hera jabbed her elbow into Zeus’ rib cage and he grabbed it, “Be careful, we weren’t supposed to harm these puny bodies. We were merely here to give a message to this intoxicating creature here. I might ask Him if I can take you home with me the next time, He sends me to you. I used to have a harem of mortal women a long time ago.” Hera rolled her eyes, “And that put our marriage at risk, remember? It almost set off a whole ass war. Are we forgetting?” Zeus shrugged, “Did it? I forget.” She grunted, “Don’t be so obtuse. You are well aware since He punished you severely and told you to be faithful. How soon he pretends to forget. Anyhow, it was nice to finally meet you, Alexandra. Apollo would not shut up about his amazing, beautiful and wonderful soul daughter. He also wouldn’t shut up about some jerk he didn’t like. What was his name Zeus?” Zeus let out a throaty laughed, “It was Lucien.” Blake looked over at me confused and said, “Lucien was taken to Eden the last time I was visiting, we both met Apollo. Apollo wasn’t a fan of your brother.” Hera gasped, “Oh the hot one here it the guy’s brother? If he looks anything like his brother, I envy you.” It was Zeus’s turn to be offended, “Excuse me?” She smirked and shrugged, “Time to go.” They walked over to where the master was still meditating and sat back down to their positions.

Jess opened her eyes and looked around confused, “Oh, Xan. I didn’t realize you were here. I just had a weird vision. I’m not sure what to make of it.” Blake sighed, “We can talk about it all later Jess. Alexandra and I have to go to our session. See you later.” He pulled his arm around my shoulder and I smiled at Jess and she sent me a confused smile back. As we were walking away, I heard Meldon say, “That was very trippy. Did you see a garden too Jess?” I knew instantly that Aphrodite had pulled the two consciousness’ into Eden while Zeus and Hera invaded their bodies. That would be a very interesting conversation to go over with them later on when we had time to talk. Blake led me into a room with a man dressed in fencing gear. He bowed as Blake entered the room, “Your Highness, I was told that The Batiste would be joining you today.” Blake put on a prideful smile and presented me to the fencing master. The master instructed us to get into the fencing gear to so we could start the session. The master went over basic techniques and had us practice on each other. I knew Blake already knew fencing so he was able to take me through the stances and movements. He had held me from behind carefully and slowly showing me how. I got the impression he was enjoying doing so and when the master was convinced I could do it properly, he had us try it on each other. Despite Blake holding back, he was clearly better than me at fencing. The master had told me that I didn’t have the aptitude for fencing and he assured me that not everyone would take to like Blake had. Blake smiled down at me while a was sprawled out on the floor exhausted from the workout, “Don’t worry Alexandra, I will be sure to keep you safe should we ever encounter sword wielding fiends.” I laughed, “I have no doubt that you would and quite effectively I would imagine.” He offered me his hand and pulled me up. He gazed into my eyes and asked, “May I kiss you?” I shrugged, “Sure.” He pulled me into a tight embrace and kissed me as long as his brother had a couple days before. Like his brother, I felt nothing. When pulled away from me, he said, “You didn’t feel anything then?” I shook my head, “Were you hoping a kiss would break the curse?” He sighed, “I don’t know what I think. I just know it is frustrating that you can feel nothing from it.” He threw the gear he was holding down and walked towards the door, “Sorry Alexandra, I’d walk you back but I really need to be alone right now.” I said in a low tone, “I understand.”

Later, after I went and took a short shower to wash the sweat away, I knocked on Lucien’s door. There was no answer, I had wondered if he was in a bad mood like his brother. I dropped my shoulders and started to walk towards my room. I heard Lucien and Litha laughing down the hall. As he turned the corner and saw me, he told Litha he would see her in the morning. Litha said, “Sure thing. Thanks for the trip and buying me all that. Good night, Lucien, Alexandra.” She merrily walked down the hallway, humming a tune I didn’t quite know. He walked towards me with a bag in his hand, “Are you done on your date with Blake?” I nodded, “He left early.” His eyes widened and his jaw dropped, “What? Why?” I sighed, “Can we talk about it where prying ears aren’t able to pry?” He nodded and pulled a key out of his pocket and opened his bedroom door. He walked over to the table and pulled out the chair, “Please.” I walked over and sat down, “Thank you Lucien.” He still had the package in his hand when he walked over to the other chair and sat down. He placed the package on the table. He looked at me waiting for me to answer his earlier questions. I nodded, “He kissed.” Something flashed in his eyes when I told him that but I wasn’t sure what it was since he quickly gained his composure. I continued, “He asked me if I felt anything.” He placed his elbows on the table, clasped his hands and leaned forward, “What did you tell him?” I looked down at my own hands that were fidgeting under the table, “I felt nothing. He got frustrated and hurt so he told me he needed to be alone then left.” He leaned back in his chair in what looked like relief, “He’ll get over it. How are you though?” I looked up into his crystal green eyes, “I’m fine. Blake said I may owe you an apology for chiding you about keeping things from me. I’m not sure so I will reserve the apology later if you’re okay with that.” He nodded, “I don’t think you have anything to apologize for Alexandra but if you feel you must I will not judge when you give it.” I was relieved to hear him say that. I wanted to move on to the next topic, “So possession is definitely a thing that Gods can do.” He tensed up, “Why would you say that?” I laughed, “Well Jess and Meldon got possessed by Hera and Zeus. Blake and I walked in on them making out so we were very confused until they cleared it up.” He laughed, “I bet that was different.” We laughed together as I said, “You have no idea how off putting it was to have Meldon flirting with me.” The laughter gave way to a comfortable silence between us until he snapped his fingers, “I almost forgot. I got you a couple of things while I was out.” He pulled another bag out of the package, “I’ll give this one to you on our date tomorrow night.” Then he pulled out a bigger box from the package and I could smell the sweetness coming off the box. I closed my eyes and my mouth watered, “What is it?” I opened my eyes and looked at his smiling face, “They had a bakery in town. The baker is actually a witch that spent a lot of time in Terre. She said they have a popular dessert there called cheesecake. I brought one back with me for you.”
