My Shadow's Abilities

POV: Alexandra

I sat there stiffly as the big guy up high was carefully scrutinizing me. I heard him chuckle, “Relax child, I won’t bite you.” I inhaled a sharp breath, “No offense, Father, but it’s rather intimidating to be in your presence. Humans revile you as God and everyone respects you as the Father of All Things. It’s kind of a lot to get my head around.” He laughed, “You can think of me as a grandfather that you can’t really look upon.” I shrugged, “I’ll try but I’m not making any promises. You have to admit that if you were a semi-mortal in the presence of the one who made you, you’d likely freak out too.” He said, “Oh I’d probably be more curious than intimidated. Knowing what I know of you, I’m surprised you aren’t more curious.” I giggled nervously, “Don’t get me wrong, I’m curious why it is you need to examine me. With respect, of course.” Apollo looked up at me in surprise. At that moment, I was guessing that no one spoke with All Mighty that way. I saw the Father wave his hand at Apollo, “Leave her, she’s fascinating. Even my own children think I can’t hear someone speak to me so candidly. Tell me, child, what is your own opinion on this situation you find yourself in.” I looked down at my feet trying to figure out which of the couple hundred situations I found myself in since finding out about myself. I sighed, “Which situation? I have a few.” He laughed, “I mean this curse business. I don’t know if you know this but I never give you any situation I know you cannot handle. I see in you a very strong young woman, you just have yet to discover what that strength is.”

I shifted in my seat and thought about what I thought about this curse, “I honestly hadn’t had much time to really think about it. I mean, I did get to spend some time with the man I believe I am in love with and it hurt to leave the place that let me feel that. I don’t know who did this to me but I do know I want to find him and ask why he did it.” He tapped his hand on the arm of his chair, “That would make two of us. It is not often one of my children goes rogue and I have theories as to who it is. Apollo told me that you’ve been able to see him in your dreams.” I nodded, “Yes, I imagine he’s told you the description too.” He hummed in affirmation, “I am told that someone amongst your circle has come up with a solution that would require assistance from the Heavenly realm. You can tell me this plan of his and I will decide if this warrants intervention on my children’s behalf.” I nodded and then proceeded to tell him about Mordred’s plan and how he planned to use my soul parents to protect me from harm from this God. He tapped the chair again, “I don’t believe you will need assistance from us. If this God cursed you to fall in love with him, he will likely have no intention of harming you even if you summon and trap him.” Apollo spoke, “Would it not benefit her loved ones that the protection be there? He may not harm her but he may try his best to harm the others.” All Mighty grunted in frustration, “I will not have my decisions questioned, Apollo. Besides, I was not finished. I will not send my children but I understand that Hades has given you a shadow dog.” I nodded, “Yes, Father.” He spoke again, “He will be imbued with the power of your soul parents. Summon him forth.”

I drew in a breath and spoke firmly, “Sebastian.” The wisp came out but instead of laying in my lap as he always had, he went for All Mighty’s lap. I heard the God chuckle, “He is a sweet one. You have done well in raising him, he’s perfectly happy and also capable of holding the power of Gods. Come forth, Apollo.” Apollo rose to his feet and approached All Mighty and Sebastian. He lifted his hand and I felt a warmth next to me. Apollo returned to his spot and kneeled again. All Mighty spoke again, “Aphrodite come forth.” She rose to her feet and sauntered up to where All Mighty was sitting and raised her hand. This time I didn’t feel the warmth, I felt the reassurance of affection.” She sauntered back to her spot afterward and also went back to kneeling. I could hear to the side of me a jingle and a pat, “Off you go back to your loved one’s side. Take good care of her.” A white and black wisp came back towards me and Sebastian manifested in front of me. He now dawned a golden collar with a bell along with a lightning bolt shape of white on his chest. The powers now imbued in him had given him a distinctive mark to indicate that he was supercharged. That was my guess anyhow, it was cheesy to think that but it was where my brain went. I stifled a small giggle as the pup leaned up towards me and licked my face. In truth, I had giggled more for the cheese factor of thinking a white lightning shape on his chest meant he was supercharged than I had for the puppy kisses. It was a good thing he had licked me at that time or I likely would have had to explain what it was that made me laugh. He waved his hand and said, “You may go now, child. The pup will know what to do when it is time.” I rose from my seat and crossed over to where my soul parents were kneeling and kneeled myself. Sebastian, who had jumped down from my lap when I rose from my seat, had disappeared into my shadow once again. I had no doubts that my shadow would know what to do but I still felt a little uneasy that my soul parents wouldn’t be there to assist me when I would confront the God who cursed me. I was nervous that because of the curse, I would stop Mordred to do what was necessary to get this curse off of me. All Mighty then dismissed us but just as we were about to leave the room, he declared, “You have to make sure that you contact Aphrodite or Apollo after you confront this God. I would like to punish him myself.” Apollo put a hand on my shoulder and I nodded, “As you wish Father.”

After we exited the room, I was able to breathe easier. I had not noticed that my body was shaking when we left the room. Apollo rubbed my back and said quietly, “I understand why you would feel like that but I assure you, He loves you as He does everyone in His creation.” I nodded understanding what he meant. I had read about Christianity when I lived in Terre, it sounded interesting to me so I asked my parents to attend church. They simply said that we wouldn’t be welcome there. I had not known at the time what they meant but given the suppression of my ability along with being something they would view as unholy, it all made sense now. In my readings, they said the one responsible for all of creation loved them all. I had wondered silently if all of the other religions the humans had, had this intrinsical thought that the one they had faith in was also so loving in his creations. I don’t know if any one religion was right, knowing what I now know about the one who created us. I shook these thoughts from my head because I didn’t want to ponder the mysteries of life. As we walked out, I smiled and nodded at Mativantis. He smiled back and bowed, “It was a pleasure to meet you Solamor. We will meet again someday soon.” He winked at me but before I could question what he meant, he closed the door to the massive house. My soul parents took me to the gates of the house and Aphrodite turned to me and sighed, “I’m afraid we must send you back from here. Apollo and I have some work to do that was mandated to us.” I looked at them confused, “What are you talking about? I didn’t hear Him give you orders.” Apollo laughed, “He doesn’t have to give them verbally. He spoke to us from His throne while we walked you out.” The more I learned of the Heavenly Realm, the more the inner workings of it fascinated me. Aphrodite kissed my cheek, “I will leave it up to Apollo to send you off as my first task is due very shortly.” She disappeared into her purple spark and I turned to look up at my soul father. He gazed down at me and smiled lovingly, “I am sorry she had to leave so abruptly but it really was important.” This declaration caused a chain reaction of questions in my head and it must’ve shown on my face. He shook his head, “I cannot tell you, my child. Just know that He has deemed it important to you so we must obey not only because he has commanded it but also we want to help you.” I asked, “What do you mean?” He shook his head, “Do you always question everything? It is not for you to know, child.” Suddenly, I saw a bright light and I was in my room in Blackwood. I had a feeling he sent me back to Blackwood without a salutation because he knew I would further question. I laughed, “What a sneak!”
