Chapter 34
"You useless fool!" Nathaniel spat out furiously as he held Sheila by her throat, pinning her against the wall.
Sheila held onto his hand, using whatever strength she had left in her to free herself from his tight grip but failed miserably as his grip only got stronger, causing her breathing to seize slowly.
"You are a big disgrace to our entire family Sheila! How could you have been so fucking careless! Why can't you ever be more careful and how many more times will almost get us exposed!" Nathaniel yelled in anger, making Sheila shiver in fear.
"I'm...I'm... sorry brother," she managed to mutter.
"You are sorry Sheila? Is that what you have to say for yourself? Unbelievable you brat! How many times do I have to remind you to be careful whenever we have to meet? I already warned you not to bring any suspicion to yourself and yet, you always get yourself followed and I always have to kill to keep protecting you," he hissed in frustration before letting go of her neck and watching her fall to the ground to catch her breath.
"I deeply regret my carelessness, brother. I just didn't expect anyone to follow me at that time and especially in that place. Please forgive me brother," she begged.
"Consider yourself lucky I spotted him following you on time. If not, you'd have ruined everything for us. Anyways, now that you've created this mess, I'd appreciate if you clean things up cause I saw your precious Damien with that little boy and there's a high chance that he'll try to save him and if he survives, your identity might be exposed and everything we've worked hard for all these years will be ruined," he tells her and Sheila immediately muttered curses under her breath.
"I honestly doubt he saw my big brother," Sheila defended, earning an irritated scowl from Nathaniel.
"You're simply assuming Sheila and we can't be too sure of anything. What if it turns out that he actually saw you? What are you going to do if he exposed you to your precious Damien?" he asked and she sighed.
"I understand what you mean brother and I'll do the needful," she tells him reassuringly before walking away.

"How's he doing, doctor? Is he alive?" Kira asked the doctor desperately.
"I must commend you and Alpha Damien's swiftness. If you had brought him much later, there's a very high chance that we wouldn't have been able to save his life," the doctor replied and Kira immediately let out a deep breath she didn't realize she had been holding.
Just then Damien walked into the room and he immediately looked around for Rogan and let out a sigh of relief when he saw Rogan lying on the bed, still breathing.
"How is his condition?" Damien asked.
"Thankfully, he survived Sir and it's really all thanks to you and the lady over here," the doctor replied, pointing towards Kira.
"If you hadn't both brought him in on time, he might not have survived at all and she also did a great job in assisting me to treat him," he added.
Damien glanced at Kira and for some weird reason, he suddenly felt a strange feeling of warmth towards her. He also felt guilty towards her cause when they had to save Rogan, he had doubted her and questioned her trustworthiness and once again, she proved just how kind and trustworthy she really was.
"Thank you Kira," he whispered to her, hoping he was loud enough for her to hear him and thankfully, she did hear him.
"Pardon me for asking this Blake but how exactly were you able to save him and what do you think about the mark on his neck?" Damien asked.
"Firstly Sir, I'm pretty sure those marks are bite marks and I believe the marks have some sort of poison in them. Thankfully, I'm pretty experienced in dealing with poisons and treating poisoned marks. There's this red oil we call pilias and it's usually used to extract out the poison from situations like this. All I did was just place a knife in a burning fire to heat it up and then I put the pilias on the knife and pressed it on the side of his neck that was bitten. I made sure the pilias went into his wound and after a while, he started to react to it, causing him to bleed out the poison," Blake, the doctor replied, explaining the entire process to Damien.
"So that means as long as we are able to bring the victims before they die, you can still save them, right?" Damien asked, hoping that was the case.
Blake sighed. "Honestly Sir, I really wish it was that easy but to be honest, it isn't as easy as it sounds. In Rogan's case, he was lucky. His wound was deep but it wasn't as deep as the attacker attempted it to be and that is why the pilias were able to easily extract the poison without any side effects," Blake explained and although Damien was slightly disappointed, he didn't express it.
"At least you already saved him. That is definitely all that matters right now. Now I can only hope he wakes up soon and tells me exactly what he'd seen and how this ended up happening to him," Damien muttered to himself.
"I'll be taking my leave sir," Blake says to Damien, bowing slightly before leaving him and Kira to themselves.
Kira walked closer to Damien as soon as she noticed the desperate expression on his face. She placed her hands on his shoulder to comfort him.
"You don't have to worry...," she was cut off when the heavy weight of Damien fell on her suddenly.
"Hey, are you okay?" she asked worriedly but was even more stunned when Damien suddenly rested his head on the crook of her neck. She watched as he closed his eyes and leaned in comfortably and when she parted her lips to speak, he cut her off again.
"Thank you Kira," he said in a calm tone as he suddenly felt at ease lying on her.
He pulled her closer and wrapped his arms around her waist and after feeling lost and confused for a few long seconds, Kira slowly did the same, stroking his hair gently to comfort him.
Damien couldn't help but admit to himself that he hadn't felt this comfortable and at peace in a while. As he leaned in on Kira, he felt as though every worry he had disappeared and the only thing he could think of was just being at peace in her arms and not letting go.
That moment, Draco had walked in but walked back out immediately as soon as he saw Kira and Damien sitting and leaning on each other. As much as he was desperate to see his brother, he also didn't think it was right to invade their privacy at least, for the next few minutes.
The moment he was informed of the attack on his brother, he ran to see the condition he was in but on his way there, he ran into the doctor and Blake had already informed him of his brother's health and that he was out of danger.
"Everything will be okay," Kira whispered to a tired Damien who simply nodded and buried his face in the crook of her neck, sending an electrifying feeling down Kira's spine.
His hot breath fanned her neck making a lump from in her throat. This would be the first time she would ever be this close to him and in his arms.
She felt warmth in her skin from his close proximity and so she let herself relax in his hold even though she knew it meant nothing from him at all.
She closed her eyes, patting his back and telling him it would be all right.
Damien held her tighter than he did before. He needed this hug for strength as she was on the verge of losing control.
"Thank you Kira." He said within himself.
For a reason he didn't understand yet, he knew there was a strong connection between him and Kira and it mortified him each time he saw those signs.
He would always remind himself of Sheila and his promise to her but then again it worried him that in the end, he might really not know what to do.
