Chapter 43
Fuck!" Both Kira and Damien spoke simultaneously as they quickly got off the bed.
While Kira was almost naked with her breasts exposed, Damien was still fully clothed. He hurriedly passed her nightwear to her and she quickly put it on. She fixed up her messy hair with her fingers so the situation doesn't seem too obvious to her aunt.
She walked to her wardrobe to get herself a robe so she could wrap around herself and not look too exposed.
"Goodness!" she muttered.
"Kira!" her aunt called again.
"Yes auntie," she replied as she walked to the door and with a deep breath, she opened up the door but only halfway..
"Were you asleep?" Layla asked.
Kira cleared her throat. "Asleep? No...not really," she stuttered while rubbing the back of her neck nervously.
"Okay I see. Can I come in then?" she asked with her brows raised up slightly as if telling her to move from the door so she could come in.
"What is it you want to talk about auntie that can't wait till tomorrow? I...," Kira trailed off as she thought of an excuse to come up with.
She didn't want her aunt coming in and seeing Damien in her room since she didn't want any misunderstandings or rather, any teasing comments from her aunt.
Not wanting to hinder Layla from telling Kira what she came here for, Damien revealed himself with a nervous smile on his face.
Layla was surprised to see Damien in Kira's room, especially, by this time of the night.
"Good evening aunt Layla. I'll leave you two alone to talk," he muttered to Kira, avoiding her contact with her.
"No problem Damien. We can continue our conversation in the morning," she told him quickly, not wanting her aunt to suspect anything else.
"Not a problem," he responded and Kira gave way so he could leave the room.
"Goodnight ma'am," he told Layla before leaving the room and disappearing into the darkness of the hallway.
Layla's eyes followed Damien until he wasn't in sight anymore before she looked back at Kira. For some reason she didn't believe they were simply just talking and the fact that Kira has been rubbing the back of her neck since she got here, told her that something definitely happened between those two and that Kira was trying to hide it from her.
"Would you mind filling me in on what both of you were talking about?" Layla asked as soon as she entered the room.
"Young lady, don't even try lying to me because you know for a fact that I'll catch on to your lies without even trying too hard," Layla told her with a strict look on her face.
"Well, nothing of importance auntie. Just the usual pack stuff," Kira lied.
Layla lips curled to the side as she scrutinized Kira. "You are really not going to tell me anything?" her aunt asked.
"What exactly brings you here aunt?" Kira asked, quickly changing the subject.
"Don't you dare try to change the subject baby girl. You are forgetting that I raised you and I know you well enough to tell when you're lying to me. So tell me what is so important that he had to visit your room by this time of the night and sweetie, why does your hair look like that?" Layla questioned as a lopsided grin formed on her face.
"It's really nothing too deep auntie. We were only talking about those creatures caused by the sun and a few other things related to them," Kira lied, blurting out the first thing that came to mind.
She didn't want the aunt knowing what happened between them as she herself still doesn't understand what just happened between them. She had never felt this type of way before and it's not like she was complaining or anything cause she loved every second of it but she was also scared of what else could happen next.
"So you really have no intention of telling huh?" Layla replied with a childish pout.
"Listen auntie," Kira placed her both hands on her aunt's shoulder.
"Nothing serious happened and I know what you're thinking but trust me, that's not it. Now tell me, what brings you here?" Kira asked.
Layla sighed as she decided to ask no further questions.
"I just came to check up on you and to make sure everything was just fine with you. That's all," Layla responded.
Kira let out a loud yawn to pretend as if she was feeling tired and sleepy. She just wanted her aunt gone so she could gather herself and understand what had happened just now between Damien and herself.
"I'm fine aunt as you can see," Kira turned around so that her aunt could see that she was doing okay so the aunt could see that she was fine.
"I know you are my dear," Layla sighed.
"It's just, I know how close you and Landon were so I thought you must be finding it hard to accept what happened to him," she said.
"I'm fine auntie, don't worry. I admit it's hard to know I'll never see him again but I assure you that I'll eventually come to terms with it. Thanks for checking up on me," Kira assured her aunt with a smile.
Truth was, if Damien had not come over earlier, she would probably still be mopping over the loss of her dear friend.
"Okay sweetie, if you say so. Have a goodnight," Layla said, kissing Kira on her forehead before walking out of her room and leaving Kira to her foggy thoughts.
*****
Damien retired back to his room tiredly. The moment his body hit
on the bed, he placed his hands over chest, trying to understand why his heart kept beating so fast.
He had way too many questions running through his head and he couldn't help but ask himself what in the world had come over him earlier.
Was everything that happened between them simply an eruption of Damon's pent up feelings or was it an eruption of his feelings? He refused to accept that everything that happened was completely him and not Damon, his wolf.
Heran his hands through his hair as he contemplated everything that went down between himself and Kira. He had honestly never felt such a powerful urge in his entire life. He was so into it that he didn't even want to stop and if Layla had not interrupted them, he most probably would have gone far with everything or rather lost control and given in to his wolf.
Kira and Damien were both very bothered about what happened between them and they couldn't sleep that night. Kira also laid on her bed, staring up at the ceiling in confusion. As much as she loved what happened, she couldn't help but think Damien would regret his actions the next day and send her straight back to where she was before it all happened or even further back and that thought alone scared the living daylights out of her.
***
Damien has consciously been avoiding Kira's eyes since he arrived at the place where the creature cursed by the sun was tied up.
They decided that it was time they found out as much as they could about them without wasting any more time.
The moment they brought him out of the cage, he cried in pain as soon as he came in contact with the sun.
His body began to burn like it was on heat and he continuously cried out in pain.
Draco pushed him back into the shade.
"If you don't want to go back there, make sure you answer each and every question we ask and don't dare lie to us. Is that understood?" he asked, earning a death glare in return.
A smirk formed on Draco's face. "Fine then, let's have it your way,"
Draco pulled him back to the sun with the chain tied around his neck and he screeched in pain. He kept struggling and crying out loud and Draco simply chuckled with a satisfied look on his face.
While Draco did that, Kira would steal glances at Damien who had not made an attempt to look at her since he arrived.
When she had greeted him this morning, he had simply replied to her quickly and walked away making her heart sink to the deepest pit of her stomach.
Damien would steal glances at Kira and the moment he noticed that she was about to look his way, he'd looked away not wanting to be caught. He was battling with what he felt and refused to believe he did all of that on his own accord. He desperately wanted to believe Damon did all of that and not him.
"Are you ready to speak now?" Draco asked and after finally giving up on being resistant, the creature nodded his head weakly.
"Good. Now, let's begin with your name and what you bastards are really called. I'm curious buddy, what exactly are you people?" Draco questioned.
The man was still in pain. It was as if half of his skin had been burnt off and there was still steam coming out from underneath his skin. His entire body was even starting to wrinkle.
"My name is Gaius and we are called... vampires," he managed to answer.
He didn't want to go back under the sun anymore and he desperately didn't want to be killed by it. He preferred to be killed by them than to die under the torturous heat of the sun.
"We've got a name Damien. The bastard's name Gaius and him and his buddies back at home are called vampires. Can you believe that?" Draco informed Damien and Kira with a proud look on his face.
