Chapter 07
Kira sat on her bed with her eyes closed and her fist clenched tightly in fury. She couldn't even control her breathing as she was still trying to comprehend what had happened yesterday and make sense of it but like she expected, it made no sense and the situation made her feel restless.
Just how could he be my mate? How in the world does that even make any sense? She wondered to herself in surprise and just when she thought she'd get no answer, her wolf, Kiana, decided to chime into her thoughts.
"Kira, don't get started on this and make all of this a big deal." Kiana scolded and Kira frowned.
"Don't you dare jump into my thoughts if you don't plan on actually helping me out here." She retorted in frustration.
"Well if you keep asking yourself questions concerning my mate and wondering why he is my mate, I will have no other choice than to reply to you and calmly remind you that you don't get to decide who makes sense and who doesn't." Kiana replied, laying emphasis on 'MY'.
Although fourteen years has been quite a long time, Kira still couldn't forget what had happened and how Damien wanted to kill her even when he was only just a kid.
When she found out he had become the silvermoon pack Alpha, something in her had begun to train even harder because she had always had this feeling that they might end up having to go head to head against each other and she had to be prepared for when that time came.
Besides their long term rivalry, Kira had heard the stories of how Damien had gone on a killing spree and how he murdered a good number of her pack members. As soon as he was able to shift, he started to show himself and news of how merciless he was spread far and wide, earning him more enemies than allies.
Kira has patiently waited for the day when she would have to face him again so she could show him just how different she was from the weak little girl he had stared at with stone cold and murderous eyes but now all of a sudden, she's finding out that he's the mate she had been secretly waiting for all this while and disappointed would be an understatement to describe how she felt right at this moment.
Just thinking of how Kiana had shouted out to his wolf made her stomach churn and her mouth bitter. She wondered what wrong she may have done in her previous life that pushed her to have someone whose only aim towards her is to kill her, as her mate.
She just couldn't wrap her head around what could have been going through the moon goddess's mind when she decided to make someone like him her mate. She just couldn't bring herself to accept that Damien was actually her mate and the mere thought of it irritated her.
She groaned in annoyance as the thought suddenly dawned on her once again. There was no way in hell she'd willingly accept such a joke and she could confidently say that nothing about him was attractive and they both can never be an item of any kind.
"Kira!" Layla yelled suddenly, snapping Kira out of her reverie. She had been calling out her name for quite a while now but Kira seemed to be completely trapped in her thoughts.
Kira sighed deeply as soon as she saw her aunt. She knew exactly why her aunt was here and she just wasn't ready to have a conversation concerning the entire situation.
She could only imagine how furious her pack members would be when they actually found out about this ridiculousness. She knew just how much they hated him and how badly they all wanted him dead for killing many of their own but finding out their Alpha is his mate would definitely not sit well with them.
"With all due respect auntie, I know why you're here and I'm really not ready for this conversation." Kira said to her firmly. She just didn't want to talk about anything that has to do with that man cause simply thinking about it was already a huge bother to her.
"Can you at least listen to what I have to say first before shutting me off." Layla replied, not surprised by her niece's reaction.
Layla was also taken back by the revelation of Kira's mate but after the event and when she sat to actually think about things, she suddenly remembered what she had heard from her grandparents as a child about a seer predicting something like this would happen.
According to her late grandmother, the exact words were, 'When the time comes, the rival packs will unite and become one to fight a force that is greater and might put the existence of werewolves to extinction.' Her great uncle, Cyprus, had made sure to relay the message and also made it his mission to make sure it was passed on word for word.
She never really understood what the message meant but while growing up, she was constantly reminded of the words and she had always wondered what they meant.
Kira's newly discovered mate may be a long time enemy of theirs but their fate must have been decided by the moon goddess for a reason and she suspects the long time revelation might have something to do with it.
"Listen to me Kira," Layla said, taking a seat next to Kira with her eyes bored into her niece's.
Kira didn't want to listen but the look on her aunt's face showed that she wanted to tell her something important.
"Kira, I know it'll sound weird and all but I don't believe that there is a mistake in what happened yesterday. The entire situation between that child and I that brought you two to face each other I believe took place for a reason and I know for a fact that you also find it all weird." She said to Kira who simply sighed. The fact that her aunt sounded this calm made her even more confused.
"Weird aunt? That's definitely an understatement as far as I'm concerned. The entire situation wasn't just horrifying for me auntie, it was heartbreaking. How can that murderer be the mate I thought I would be happy to eventually meet? This has to be wrong auntie!" She yelled in frustration.
"There's absolutely nothing wrong with Kira. He is simply our mate, how is that difficult to understand?" Kiana retorted and Kira groaned in annoyance.
"Do not piss me off!" She warned her sharply, getting sick and tired of Kiana repeating the same thing.
"Kira, you have to listen to me..."
"I don't want to. He...he is the very man I want to kill with my bare hands and you expect me to accept that he's my mate?" She interjected.
"I can't. I definitely cannot accept a man like that as my mate. He almost killed me as a child and he has killed so many of our pack members too and you expect me to accept such a monster?" She scoffed, shaking her head in disbelief.
"To be fair, we've also killed members of his pack so it's not exactly unfair." Layla reminded me.
"So what auntie? Does that justify everything?" She asked, staring at her aunt in disbelief.
"Nothing justifies anything but you and I know the moon goddess makes no mistake which is why I want you to listen to me very well. You have to listen to every word I am about to utter because at the end what we need are answers to understand what's really happening."
"When I was younger, I heard something and for years, I've kept it in mind hoping to one day find the answer and now, I think you should be the one to find the answer dear."
"It's said that there will be a time when rival packs will unite as one to fight an even greater force who will bring about the end of our kind." Layla said and Kira is immediately confused by the words of her aunt.
What in the world is her aunt talking about? She furrowed her brows in confusion as she swallowed an invisible lump in her throat.
"What is all this you're talking about auntie?" She asked, her brows raised in confusion.
"To be honest, I'd be lying if I said I actually understood myself which is why you will have to find out for yourself." Layla replied and Kira is even more confused.
"How? Where? What would I be looking for?" Kira asked.
"Kira, I think that your mate being the Silvermoon pack Alpha proves that there's a high chance that we are the rival packs of this prophecy." Layla replied.
"Let's say there is a prophecy and all but how can you be so sure it's the Silvermoon pack? What if we're wrong?" Kira asked.
Layla sighed, "I do not know if I am wrong or not but if there is something I'm sure of, it's that it's no mistake that your mate turned out to be who he is and I think we really need to seek out a spiritual mother so we can confirm whether or not your fate is tied to the prophecy." She replied, Kira sighed.
She didn't know what to make of everything her aunt just said but recalling that the moon goddess had recently approached made her realise that her aunt may not be too far from the truth after all and it seemed she had no other choice than to try to find out what all of this actually meant. She could only hope that whatever it is does not end up putting her in a difficult position.

Damien furiously smatched the glass in his hands against the wall. He wasn't one who would shout or complain whenever he was in pain or angry about something but after what happened yesterday, he couldn't keep it all in.
He wondered why of all the women in the world, it had to be that ungrateful one who watched her aunt almost kill him after he had been kind enough to help her when she was injured.
He despised Kira after that day and he regretted ever meeting and helping her. To make matters even worse, Kira had killed some of his pack members over the years and whoever happened to survive, she would make sure to tell them to report back to him and let him know that she was coming for him.
She was literally hated by every member of the pack and now all of a sudden, she's his mate? He just couldn't wrap his head around the absurdity of the situation and the fact that so many people had been there to witness the ridiculousness made him even angrier.
"You really need to calm down Damien." Damon, his wolf advised, earning an irritated growl from Damien.
"Maybe I'd be much calmer if you didn't decide to choose the wrong person as a mate." Damien retorted back furiously.
"Firstly, I didn't choose our mate and secondly, no mate is ever wrong." Damon calmly reminded him.
"The choosing part, I agree but the other one, I don't agree because she is the worst choice they'll ever be and you just had to embarrass yourself by calling out to be." Damien hissed.
Asides the fact that he found out who his mate was, telling Sheila about it was another issue he couldn't stop thinking about. He wondered how she'd react when she found out he already met the person they had feared meeting the most and even worse who it turned out to be.
He didn't even want to imagine how difficult it'd be and how this could affect their relationship. He knew Sheila wasn't like every other wolf out there. She was soft, sensitive and easily triggered. She would break down easily and hated to fight as she would end up getting hurt.
Unlike many other she wolves who were strong and merciless, Sheila was the complete opposite and he just couldn't hurt her or watch her get hurt.
As if Sheila had heard his thoughts, she walked in with a wide grin on her face.
"Hey babe, what's up! You know you've been acting pretty out of it for a while now and I want to know if it's something I can help you with." She said, walking towards where he stood.
Damien swiftly changed his facial expression to a happier one as soon she walked in. He wouldn't want to tell her anything yet knowing how much it would hurt her.
"Something's definitely up if you didn't even bother denying immediately. Can't you tell me what's bothering you?" She pestered.
Damien sighed, "It's really nothing you have to bother yourself with." He assured her, pulling her closer to him.
He placed his hands on her hips as she stood in front of him with barely any distance between them.
She wounded her arms around his neck while biting her lips seductively.
"I'm pretty sure you missed me while I was gone. Am I wrong?" He teased, raising his brows in a questioning manner.
"I hope you also didn't forget that we have unfinished business from the other night." He teased even more, moving his hands to her butt and squeezing them lightly.
"Stop it silly." She giggled and placed her hands on his chest as if trying to push him away when actually what she wanted was for him to keep teasing her till he had his way.
He smiled, "Should I really stop it or should I keep going? Be honest babe." He teased her even more and she flushed in embarrassment.
He loved how she blushed easily from every word he said to her and that made his heart flutter.
Sheila was definitely a rare breed. Someone he knew would be hard to find and replace which is why he hates the fact his mate had to be another woman and not her.
The way his forehead squeezed told Sheila there was something going on in his mind and she couldn't wait to find out.
"Tell me." She urged him.
"Tell you what?" He asked, acting oblivious.
"You really want to act like there's nothing going on right? Okay then, I'll leave since it seems I'm intruding your thoughts." She threatened childishly.
Just as she turned to leave, he pulled her towards him and immediately claimed her lips. She tried to push him off but the more she did, the more his hold on her tightened and in no time she gave him to his kiss.
Soon their tongue met and both their tongues fought for dominance until hers finally gave in to his and she moaned at his touch and kisses.
She could feel heat rising between her legs as her knees pressed against them and his hands playfully squeezing her breasts.
