Chapter 40
As planned, the chosen members of the Red Moon pack including Kira herself set out that night.
Kira was most definitely nervous about the entire plan but she masked her nervousness and put up a brave front to encourage her people.
The fact that anyone who ever encountered them always turned up dead made her a lot more wary for herself and for the people she had with her. As much as she wanted to catch them, she couldn't afford to lose her own people along the way.
They set out as planned and went to the planned destination. As Kira had instructed, they all hid behind the trees while Kira stood with Landon in the middle of the forest acting as if they were both having a deep conversation about protecting the woods when they were actually at alert to spot any sudden movements.
Time passed by and they got nothing. Some of her pack members were starting to feel tired and Kira's stomach churned uncomfortably. She remembered telling Damien that there was an infiltrator in his pack giving out information to these people and now she couldn't help but think there could be one too in her pack because according to how the deaths have been happening so far, these creatures were supposed to be out by this time.
Suddenly she heard a sound coming from the bushy side of the woods and she immediately threw Landon a knowing look as they both watched out for whatever was to come.
Landon began to walk away from her as if he was inspecting the woods as planned. She stood still in her position as she waited desperately for any of them to show up and finally expose themselves to her.
Her heart beat faster than usual in desperation but she composed herself. Suddenly Landon was nowhere to be seen. He had walked further than he should and it got Kira very worried. She took the initiative to follow his track.
Suddenly she heard someone scream and when she turned back, she spotted one of her pack members being attacked. Luckily, the other members in hiding had quickly gone to his rescue and she immediately ran deep into the woods to find Landon as her mind was no longer at ease.
Kira froze all of a sudden when she saw Landon's body on the ground, struggling to survive. She glanced at his body and then at the figure in front of her whose face was covered because his teeth were buried deep in the crook of Landon's neck.
She growled in anger as she took careful steps towards the creature before turning into her wolf form and watching him run into the woods but not before causing more damage to Landon's body.

Kira's heart paced faster as she ran through the woods, tracing the terrifying figure that to her utmost surprise, drained the blood of one of her pack members to death right before her eyes.
Landon, her very dear childhood friend who was also the son of Marlene, the woman who had helped her mother give birth to her.
She was hurt and furious that it was right in front of her that the vicious creature whose actual name they still didn't know, used it's mere teeth to drain a good portion of his blood out of him till he eventually died and she had just stood there helpless; not because she couldn't have helped but because everything that happened at that moment wasn't something she was expecting to happen and since it all happened so fast, she didn't get the chance to actually save him.
She had not been able to comprehend everything that happened as her legs stood still and her eyes widened at the sight in front of her.
She at least knew he looked a lot like her in the sense that he also looked human but the difference was he had a different kind of teeth that she didn't think any human or werewolf did. His teeth had grown longer and he had dug them deep into Landon's throat and weirdly, that was enough to drain the life out of him.
She watched Landon cry in agony as he couldn't do anything to save himself and neither could she.
It was until Landon's body laid on the ground, looking lifeless and completely pale that it all eventually dawned on her.
'So, this is what they look like and this is what they're actually capable of?' she wondered to herself as a lone tear rolled down her cheek.
The male figure wiped the blood that dropped on the side of his lips with his hands and smiled at her with his bloody teeth irritating her and making her stomach churn.
She furiously growled and shifted to her wolf form, going after him as fast as she could. She fortunately caught up with him and used her teeth to bite and tear him and once he realised that he was no match for her, he found a way to get out of her tight grip and ran into the woods and she followed in anger, wanting to kill him just as he had killed Landon.
She had never been so furious in her life. The further she went into the woods, the more she remembered what her spiritual mother had told her. These creatures were going to be the doom of werewolf like her and after seeing what they could do with her own two eyes, she could tell they definitely possessed something they didn't and fighting against them would definitely not be easy and unfortunately, it would be a bloodbath.
Finally meeting a dead-end, the retreating figure of the creature had nowhere else to run to so he pauses for a while, looking around for the best possible way to escape the furious wolf.
Kira finally caught up with the retreating figure and this time, she didn't bother holding herself back as she jumped at him immediately and pushed her sharp claws into his throat without mercy. She watched as blood poured out of his throat in satisfaction and swore to find out where the rest of his people were hiding and do the exact same thing she just did to him to each and every one of them until they are no longer a threat to her people.

The news about Kira killing a creature cursed by the sun spread around like a wildfire.
When the news reached Damien's ears, he couldn't help but think of Kira's feelings. He also got to find out from Draco that the wolf who had died was Kira's childhood friend and he couldn't help but imagine how she'd feel because after all, he had also lost his childhood friend not too long ago.
Hearing Kira had killed one of the creatures cursed by the sun sent a warm feeling down his spine.
He had seen Kira fight before and he knew what she was capable of doing. He was suddenly proud of what she had done and wished he had witnessed it with his very own eyes .
He placed his hands on his chest as he felt his heart beating faster than normal.
Just the thought of Kira alone and his heartbeat would suddenly become abnormal. What exactly was she doing to him? He thought to himself.
It has only been a day since Kira left but he felt her presence and the sudden urge to see her filled his head.
He felt as if a huge part of him was missing and he wasn't complete at all. He worried about Kira's current state of mind and at the same time, he craved her presence.
He had a mental battle within himself as he thought of going to the Redmoon pack to see how things were going when the truth was that he only wanted to see how Kira was doing.
As embarrassing as it sometimes felt, he knew Kira was way more stable and capable mentally than he was but he felt the need to be by her side even when he knew she could handle things way better than he could.
As he got to Know Kira over these past few weeks, he couldn't help but be drawn to her. It wasn't just her personality alone but everything that had to do with her.
She was more exposed when it came to littlest details and was more prepared than he ever would be.
"Thank you Draco," he said as soon as he had finished telling him what had gone down in the Red Moon pack.
"She isn't hurt...anywhere right?" he asked after hesitating for a second.
"From what I hear, not even a scratch. She had successfully killed the creature and now, his body is in their possession for inspection," Draco replied.
"That's good enough for me. I need to go and see for myself what these bastards look like," Damien said.
"Get ready Draco, we'll be going to the Redmoon pack to see how things are over there and also witness for ourselves the bastards that hurt our people," Damien instructed.
He really wanted to see the creatures cursed by the sun's actual identity and at the same time, he wanted to see Kira. He wanted to know how she was doing and he felt a sudden urge to wrap his arms around her and comfort her like she had comforted him.

Kira sobbed quietly as she laid on the bed on her stomach.
It hurt her so much as she constantly recalled the image of Landon in her head.
He was with her one minute and the next minute, he was being fed on by that bastard and the fact that she couldn't save him on time ate her up.
Whenever she closed her eyes all she could remember was his body lying helplessly on the ground and bleeding profusely.
It hurt her to the point where all she could think about was killing every last one of them with her bare hands and feeding their bodies to the wild dogs just to get even.
She recalled how it all happened. After she had successfully killed the bastard, she howled in pain as tears laced her eyes.
Not too long after she howled, the other members of her pack had found her and had immediately taken away the body of the monster she had killed.
She had eventually changed back to her human form and was wrapped with a blanket by her aunt.
She found it hard to move as a guilty feeling ate her up. Firstly, she couldn't save Rogan who was right under her nose and now, she had lost her closest friend.
Memories of her time with Landon as a child filled her head and the one she couldn't just get over was when he had first encouraged her.
"For someone as small as you are, I really admire your strength Kira. You're feisty but in a good way," Landon complimented with a wide grin on his face.
"I already knew that but thanks anyways," she replied to him as she got up from the floor.
"Even though I said that, I'll still protect when we're older. You are a female and I don't mean this in a bad way, but you are much stronger than I am and it doesn't sit well with me. You always protect me and I feel bad and weak every time you help me out, so I promise you Kira, I will definitely be the one protecting you in the future," he said with a cheeky smile that made Kira roll her eyes.
"Don't worry Landon, I'll protect both of us," she told him confidently and they both giggled at each other.
The reason he had decided to be by her side the night he died was because of the promise he made to her when they were younger. He had told her he'd always be there for her and now, his promise had cost him his life.
Tears streamed down her face and she sobbed silently. She blamed herself for not being fast and she blamed herself for not stopping him from walking further.
The moment Kira heard a knock on her door, she immediately wiped her face with her hands. She didn't want anyone to know she was crying. She didn't want to show them this side of her since she couldn't afford to have them be discouraged.
"Yes, come in," she answered.
"Sorry to bother you Alpha Kira but the Alpha of the Silvermoon pack is here and he wants to see you," the guard informed her and Kira froze.
