Chapter 38

Everyone in the crowd mumbled amongst themselves as soon as the identity of that Alpha's mate was revealed.

"That is absurd!" A voice shouted in the crowd and the people kept quiet once again to see who was bold enough to voice out their opinion.

"This is very unacceptable Alpha Damien and it should never be allowed or even considered," the man added.

"It will never be accepted, ever!" a part of the crowd yelled simultaneously, staring disdainfully at Kira.

"We cannot allow such a thing Alpha Damien. This woman is our enemy and with everything that has been going on lately, we can't be too sure it's not her doing," another voice from the crowd shouted.

Damien shut his eyes tightly as he listened to them voice their opposition. He expected this reaction from them and he expected himself to have a reply for this but all of a sudden, he felt blank and couldn't think of anything to say.

"Please be quiet!" Kira spoke out of the blue, attracting the attention of everyone.

Suddenly someone from the crowd snatched a cup of water from another person in the crowd, walked towards the podium where Kira stood and immediately threw the cup of water on Kira's face.

"No, you keep quiet you shameless murderer!" the furious lady retorted, throwing the cup at Kira and hitting her.

"You will not come here and order us around even when you're killing us," she added in anger, glaring at Kira with a deadly look in her eyes.

Draco immediately rushed to Kira's side as he offered her his handkerchief to wipe off her face. She collected it from him and wiped her face off, trying her best to control her anger.

"Is that really all you've got? Water?" she spoke daringly at the woman in front of her, surprising everyone with her reaction.

Damien turned to look at her with a surprised look on his face. He was not expecting her to speak up again after what the lady had done to her but then again, what else could he have expected from someone like Kira, she had way more guts than he'll ever have.

He should have expected a reaction like this from her and he couldn't help but be slightly proud of the fact that she was speaking up for herself.

"You have some audacity, you bitch. How dare you come into our place and talk to us with such disrespect?" a voice from the crowd hissed.

"That is enough!" Damien hissed, raising his voice slightly and immediately, the crowd went silent.

"Listen people, no one has ever had the ability to choose who their mate is. We all rightfully believe that the moon goddess has always been the one to decide our mate and she chose Kira as my mate for a reason. I did not choose Kira myself and when I found out, I was as conflicted as the rest of you are right now. I also challenged the situation and I refused Kira as my mate but then things changed and something happened and I realized that there is a reason things ended up this way," he explains to them.

"What could possibly be the reason for the moon goddess to choose our number one enemy as your mate? For all we know, she's probably the one killing our people and using the rubbish about being your mate to cover up her crime," a voice spoke up confidently, completely of the believe that Kira was behind the sudden deaths.

"She is not the one behind any of this and that I can assure you of. You all have seen the dead bodies of those who died. Now tell me, does any of the bodies look like the bodies of people that were killed by a werewolf? No, they do not because a werewolf can't inflict such marks and leave a body looking that way. The evil behind this are creatures who are apparently the exact opposite of us and they are called, the creatures cursed by the sun," he said to them and most of the faces in the crowd immediately turned confused.

"Creature cursed by the sun? What is that? Who are they and where do they come from? Does that even make any sense?" the people murmured amongst themselves, trying to understand whatever Damien had just said.

"The creatures cursed by the sun are those who loathe our kind, that is, werewolves like yourself and they are out to make sure that they suppress us and make sure we're extinct in no time. They are our true enemy and if we continue to act this way by suspecting , hating each other and fighting battles that visibly make no sense, they are bound to succeed and we are most likely to go into extinction," Damien explained.

"Why in the world would they want to end us and what exactly are they like? How do we know them?" a voice from the crowd asked.

"Unfortunately, that is a question that I do not have an answer to. I have never personally encountered them before but the late Rogan did unfortunately encounter one and he confirmed that they in fact do exist and they are blood suckers. These people aren't anything like us. Their bite is poisonous and each time they bite us, we are most likely to die unless we get lucky. The Red Moon pack has absolutely nothing to do with the death of our people and I can assure you that this creatures, do exist amongst us and in order for us to eradicate this people and be safe, we will have to put aside our differences, forget the hate we have for each other and work with each other to achieve a common goal. This is the actual reason behind the moon goddess's decision," he replied, hoping his somewhat meaningful explanation would be understood by them.

The people spoke amongst themselves as they exchanged their opinion about their Alpha's revelation.

They couldn't accept Kira nor could they trust her but with the current situation of their pack, they wanted to trust their Alpha and follow his lead.

"I know that a lot of you don't trust Kira and I understand that perfectly but none of this is really about kira. It's about the bastards who want us dead and we need to work together as one to avoid the terrible disaster that awaits us if we do not do the right thing. Each passing day, the date rate increases and they are successfully taking of us and doing it under our very own nose,"

"Who they are, what they want and how they look, these are factors that we do not know and for us to find out, we have to work towards it which is why I decided to tell you all the truth and explain the situation at hand. The fact that she's my mate is not something that should be frowned upon. It's quite glaring that the reason why things turned out like this is because our enmity with her people displeases the moon goddess and the sooner we accept reality the better it'd be for all of us. It may take a while for you all but please, let us respect and acknowledge Alpha Kira's presence amongst us," Damien said confidently before staring back at Kira with a small smile and the crowd immediately went quiet for a few long seconds as if they were all deep in their thoughts.



"Brother! Brother!" Sheila called out desperately as she looked around the empty room for her brother.

"Brother Nathanael!" she called out loud again impatiently, wondering where he could have disappeared to.

"Show your face Nathaniel!" she hissed.

"What is it now Sheila? Why did you come here and what's your attitude?" Nathaniel asked, suddenly showing up behind her.

"Brother, we really need to stop things for a while," she replies quickly with a terrified look on her face.

"Stop what exactly? What are you talking about?" Nathaniel asked as his brows raised in a questioning manner.

"The thing is... Earlier today, Damien had the sudden brilliant idea to introduce that stupid bitch Kira to the pack and now, they're opening talking about joining hands to find us. They even know several things about us brother and the worst part is, Damien no longer cares about my feelings and the only thing in that head of his is that useless bitch, Kira," she explained as she ran her fingers through her hair angrily.

Nathaniel walked slowly from behind Sheila with his hands at his back as if deep in thought.

"Failure," he drawled slowly as he clicked his tongue.

"You failed in creating a rift in their relationship like you were supposed to and now, you have the audacity to come cry to me?" Nathaniel said before immediately turning to face her and she almost lost her balance as soon as her eyes fell on his.

"The Silvermoon pack and the Redmooon pack have decided to work together to get rid of us? That's pretty interesting little sis but the question is, how did they find out about us at all? Whose fault is it that they know what we are and most importantly, how did they even get to the point of becoming partners?" he asked through gritted teeth, moving swiftly to Sheila's neck and using both his hands to strangle her.

Sheila struggled to get out of his grip as she gasped for air.

"Brother...broth...," she struggled to say with Nathaniel's hands around her neck.


"You were supposed to never let Damien out of your sight! You were supposed to have him wrapped around your fingers like a dog and now, you have failed woefully. It's the fact that when it comes to failing, you've been pretty much consistent and now, I have to clean the mess that you made, as usual!" he hissed furiously as he pushed her away from him, causing her back to hit the wall.

She groaned in pain as she landed on her knees, gasping for air.

"I'm so sorry brother. I promise to redeem myself," she tells him.

"Redeem yourself? You have constantly said that to me and what have you ended up doing? Failing," he spat out.

"I will not let you ruin the hard work of our mother and our people Sheila. We will never let those werewolves win over us. You know our mother has cautiously planned this for a long time and we have no other choice but to come out victorious, is that clear? Now, go back and I'll deal with this mess myself," he tells her.

She raised her head up to look at him. "How brother? How will you deal with this?" she questioned inquisitively.

"That is for me to know Sheila so go back and try every means necessary to get Damien on your side once again," he instructed with an unreadable expression and his tone had sent a shiver down her spine as she struggled to swallow the lump in her throat.

"I will do as instructed brother," she tells him.

The people knew of Kira's presence now and the plan towards the attack on the creatures cursed by the sun was yet to be made but the people of the Silvermoon pack knew that the Redmoon pack was not behind the recent death of their members.

"Aunt Layla?" Kira exclaimed as she was surprised to see her aunt in her room in the silvermoon pack without prior notice.

What could she possibly be doing here and how did she even get in? Kira thought to herself.

"Kira, you have to return home right this minute. Our pack has been invaded and it is not good at all," Layla quickly informed, completely confusing Kira.
