Chapter 37

"War?" Damien asked, watching Kira with a questioning look on his face.

"Unfortunately, yes Damien. There has to be war. You may not see it yet but the war has already begun. They're literally challenging us by killing our people right under our noses and that is basically a declaration of war from their end. Besides, shouldn't we have known? Isn't that why I had to come here?" Kira replied in a very serious tone.

"So what is it you're saying Kira? That I should tell my people to prepare for a war against an unknown enemy? Should I start telling them about how the Alpha of the Redmoon pack has been living with me and how she's willing to join us and go to war? Do you really think they won't believe you're an instigator especially if I mention that you're my mate?" Damien asked and Kira immediately let out a frustrated sigh.

"I'm not telling you to announce myself or anything like that. I'm simply proposing a solution for all that is happening right now. This entire mess already started with your pack and in no time, my pack and other surrounding packs will be in danger as well. You know what's annoying me, it's that you are still so stuck up with your selfish interest to the point where you can't even think of anyone else. I've been staying here for almost three months Damien, which means that I have abandoned my people and my duties as an Alpha for the last three months and you can't even think of that and help us move this forward all because, you're trying to play safe," she snapped angrily, raising her voice a little more than she intended to.

Damien buried his face in his palm, running his hands through his hair and letting out a frustrated sigh. Everything felt like a burden to him and he suddenly started to feel suffocated. He knew what Kira said made perfect sense and was probably the best thing to do at the moment but he was too big of a coward to admit it.

He was afraid that she had a point yet he was scared to make a move and scared to hurt Sheila's feelings but at the same time, he felt bad every time he had to hurt Kira. She may not talk about it but whenever he glanced at her, he saw the pain she concealed inside of her and he felt it too even when he didn't want to.

"What's on your mind buddy?" Draco asked Damien as soon as he walked in and noticed that his friend was deep in his thoughts.

Damien sighed deeply. Since Kira walked out of here earlier today, he hasn't stopped feeling like a jerk. He felt very conflicted at the moment and didn't know what to do.

"Draco, I think I'm ready to tell the people about Kira's presence and the fact that she is my mate," he said suddenly, taking Draco by surprise with his words.

"Are you sure about this?" Draco asked to be sure because Damien had refused to accept Kira as his mate all this while and now, he suddenly wanted to let people know that she was his mate which wasn't exactly normal.

Damien clenched his fist. "I think it's high time they know about it cause no matter how long I refuse to accept it, it will never change the fact that she's my mate," he replied.

"Well, look who is finally saying the right things. Didn't think you'd ever grow up," Damon, Damien's wolf muttered sarcastically, finally speaking up after weeks of giving Damien the silent treatment.

"Be quiet you idiot!" Damien hissed at Damon who simply chuckled.

"Me? Quiet? I can't possibly be a quiet buddy. I mean, you should be ecstatic that I finally spoke to you and it's only because you are about to finally do the right thing," Damon retorted.

"I wouldn't mind if you went back to sleep. I'd appreciate the silence," Damien fired back, unconsciously voicing his words out loud, causing Draco to stare back at him in confusion before letting out a short laugh as he realised Damien was having an argument with himself.

Damien noticed the smile on Draco's face and he couldn't help but be grateful that at least, he had made him laugh a little. Ever since Rogan's death, Draco hasn't been himself at all and he hasn't even smiled, much less laughed.

Since Damien never had any siblings growing up, he considered Draco and Rogan as his brothers. They were always together while growing up and they all even trained together.

Rogan's death left a huge scar in his heart and that is one of the biggest reasons why he made this decision. The creature cursed by the sun did not leave anytime soon and as it seemed, they had come to stay and were slowly clearing out his people one by one. For him to fish them out and fight them, he knew he needed Kira and her people to help him.

"I'm glad to see you laughing, Draco. It's being a while," he muttered proudly and Draco scoffed.

"Forget about seeing me laugh too often Damien. I won't be laughing until I find out who killed my brother and I rip that son of a bitch to pieces," Draco replied and Damien didn't bother replying since that was exactly what he had in mind as well.

"We can't settle down until we take them all out Damien," Draco said.

"That's a given buddy. We have to fish them out fast before more people turn up dead," Damien replied and Draco nodded before they both bumped their fist together as their usual sign of always having each other's back.

"When are you telling the people about Kira?" Draco asked.

"I don't plan on wasting anymore time or giving myself any room to change my mind," Damien responded.

"Gather the people for an emergency meeting and wait for my order before saying anything," he ordered and Draco nodded in understanding before walking out of the room.

  The Silvermoon pack members all gathered at the town auditorium when the announcement of the Alpha's emergency meeting was shared.

When the news went round that Alpha Damien had summoned the presence of everyone, they all rushed down to the auditorium, curious to hear what it was he had to say.

Most of them hoped and believed that the meeting would have something to do with the numerous murder cases that has been terrifying them and they all believed they were here to finally hear a solution.

They murmured amongst themselves  as they waited for Alphas Damien to show up.

Damien was waiting for Kira in his room after he had sent Draco to announce that he wanted to speak with everyone.

When Marianne Informed Kira that Damien had requested she come to his room, she was both confused and somewhat reluctant.

What could he possibly want with her? Why is he suddenly calling for her even after their last conversation? She thought to herself as she knew Damien isn't one to just call for her randomly and he also isn't one to apologize immediately after he annoyed a person so she definitely couldn't be expecting an apology from him.

"I heard you called for me," Kira spoke nonchalantly as soon as she walked into his chambers.

"Yes I did Kira and thanks for coming," he replied with his back facing her.

"Yeah whatever. Why did you call me here? What is it you want to say?" she asked.

"I'm not saying anything at the moment but I will soon. Just prepare yourself please," he responded and she furrowed her brows in confusion.

What could he possibly be going on about now and why does she have to prepare herself? She wondered to herself.

"Exactly what...," she was about to ask a question but was cut off by Draco's voice.

"Everyone is gathered in the auditorium and they're waiting for you sir," Draco informed, confusing Kira.

Damien inhaled and exhaled deeply. "Okay then," he replied.

"Let's go Kira," he said to Kira, who only wanted a clear explanation for what was going on here.

"Where are we going?" she asked frantically as her brows raised up slightly. I'm a questioning manner.

"Have a little bit of patience Kira. You'll find out soon," he replied and Kira rolled her eyes.

She didn't like the tone he used on her and how he still isn't giving her any explanations but rather than arguing any further, she decided to just follow as instructed.

The entire pack watched as Alpha Damien walked in with a strong look on his face.

Damien exhaled deeply with his eyes closed as he prepared himself for the things he was about to announce.

"Thank you all for coming here," he began as he pinched the bridge of his nose lightly.

"I know the current situation has put everyone in a bad position right now but as your Alpha, all I can do is assure you that we're going make sure to stop the continuous death of our people,"

"The main reason I had called for this gathering is to inform everyone that I have found my mate," he confessed and a deafening silence fell in the room as everyone was both confused and in shock.

Everyone including Kira, who wasn't expecting Damien to announce all of a sudden without giving her a heads up first. Her breathing pace suddenly increased as a foreign feeling of fear overwhelmed her.

"What is he going to do?" she asked Draco who was standing beside her.

Draco looked at her and a smile formed on his face. "You will find out soon Alpha Kira, just wait for it," he replied.

"It's been a few weeks since my mate and I met and she and I have been in close contact for a long while now," he announced and the murmuring in the hall worsened immediately

What will happen to Lady Sheila now? Who exactly is his mate? They asked amongst themselves.

"I know you all are curious to know who my mate is and where she is from and I will tell you cause she is here with me at the moment," he tells them, peaking their curiosity as they looked amongst themselves trying to find who their Alpha's mate was.

Damien gestured for Kira to come out and she immediately froze on the spot. She had always wanted him to accept that she was his mate and acknowledge her presence publicly and now, here he was doing what she had always wanted and yet, she couldn't even move.

Her heartbeat faster and faster as she watched his hand gestured for her to come closer.

"Was he really ready to do what was needed of the both of them?" she thought to herself.

"Go on, he is waiting," Draco whispered beside her and so she moved slowly towards Damien's side.

To the few people who knew the face of Kira, they gasped the moment they saw her walk beside their Alpha and to those who didn't know her face or her identity at all, stared at her with questioning facial expressions on their faces.

"My mate is Kira and she is the Alpha of the Red Moon pack," he announced to them and you could hear a pin drop in the deafening silence that swallowed the hall immediately.
