CHAPTER 12:
"Come on Brock! Join us," Nick grins after swinging the tennis racket at the ball, hitting it
over the net and to my side. This is the only exercise that I do, tennis. I guess you could say
that it keeps me in shape, but it surely does keep the skin glowing.
"I'm not very good," he warns and grabs a racket, joining Nick. My guard goes down and I
drop my arms out to the side in exasperation.
"Are you seriously joining with Nick? He sucks!" I exclaim, not being able to comprehend
why he chose to go with Nick. I'm perfectly fine to team with.
"Yeah, so I'm helping him out," Brock winks making me scoff.
"You're such a fibber Broccoli," his nose scrunches up at the nickname I gave him. Luckily,
he only allows me to call him that not even Nick or mum or dad. I don't even know what they
all him, it's probably something pathetic so I don't want to know.
"I'll team with you, Faye."
We all look toward the direction of the gate where Tyrese is swinging a racket in his hand, I
gasp and drop my racket on the ground and run up to him and jump on him giving him a
massive hug. "TYRESE!" His brown orbs stare down at me happily.
"Hey Little Lacuna. I brought Amy," Amy. Who's Amy? When he sees my confused look he
laughs, "remember? My girlfriend whom we were talking about when I visited your school."
My mouth drops open as I remember, "ooohhhh! That Amy." He chuckles and messes up my
hair even more than it was by shaking it with his hand. "Okay well let's get playing!"

"Emily can you f*ck off? Honestly," Chad huffs at his 12 year old sister. She gasps and looks
at her dad so he can say something to Chad.
"Chad, must we remind you all the time that your sister is 12 and you're 17," Mike says to
him. I block out their argument and look at Brock, he's more worn out than you should be
when you play 3 games of tennis. It makes me sad looking at him. I know he's in pain and it
sucks that I can't take that pain away.
"Hey buddy, haven't seen you in a while," Nova wraps an arm around Brock's shoulders and
cuddles him while grinning. He smiles at her, "how have you been?" She asks.
"Yeah, I've been really good," She inspects him after he says this. I know she can see his
pain too, we all can. She smiles and begins a conversation with him, I slightly disappear into
my own mind and start thinking about things.
First off, when did everyone get here and why are they here exactly?
"The party is here now!" Landon shouts, walking in the room with an eski and his wife Kate
trailing behind holding their 10 year old daughters hand. Apparently he was what they called
a player back in the days, so Nick and Chad must have taken after him. Dad looks super
confused as he stares at everyone just appearing in the house out of no where, whereas
mum is enjoying this a little too much which proves she organised this all.

"Babe, why is everyone in our house? Are we hosting a party or something?" Dad asks in
complete confusion.
Mum pats his chest and gives him a look that says 'you're so behind.' He raises his
eyebrows and sits down next to Nick, while opening up a beer and talking to Titus who has
Haylee sitting on his lap so she can get to the food on the table. He loves her so much, she's
such a daddy's girl. She's definitely the favourite child out of her and Ben, while he's talking
to my dad he's making sure to watch Emberly as she talks to this man who I've never seen
before. His eyes narrow into slits when he touches her the slightest bit. Aw how cute.
Aidan and Cadence are here too, so are their kids. Chris and Macy are currently dealing with
their baby Ryan and mum and dad are obviously enjoying and embracing the fact that their
kids grew up. I now realise what this whole thing is, it's a party for Brock in celebration that
he's home. I'd rather a party for when he's at least a little better, that's all I want. But he's
here and that's good, for now.
"So, Faye... got a boyfriend yet?" Amalia wiggles her eyebrows at me, my eyes widen and
my cheeks feel hot. But I can't blush so I'm happy that one one can see that my
embarrassed.
"Um, no," I answer and look at dad, his eyes are narrowing on Amalia then me. What did I
do!?
"Really? I've heard a few things," she chuckles making my eyes widen. I bet 100% that Chad
told her something that isn't true. But then again he actually believed Jake and I were dating
because Jake did it to protect me from them.
"What have you heard?" I ask curiously.
"Yeah. What have you heard, Nova?" Dad asks with narrowed eyes, I gulp and give Nova a
pleading look. She sighs and kicks her feet back onto the coffee table, putting her hands
behind her head.
"Just that some boys are interested in her," at least she didn't mention Jake but her saying
that is still going to trigger my father. He slams his fist down on the couch in anger and
breathes out a long breath.
"Val,"mum warns. He's taking deep quick breaths, his anger getting the best of him. Nick
gets his anger from him, whereas Brock and I are the calm ones like mum. She sighs and
walks over to him and sits on his lap, his hands grip her hips as she calms him down by just
being there. Why are they so cute? "Be calm," she says and pats his cheek.
"I'm calm," he says and gives Nova a look. She looks at me and grimaces, I shrug. She
should have expected it, "but Titus isn't."
We all look at Titus, he's seething as he's staring at the guy that's touching Emberly. "Who's
that?" I ask, Titus snaps his head towards me taking deep breaths.
"Jackson," Titus growls with clenched teeth. Val chuckles at his jealousy and anger, mum
glares at him and pinches his arm. He doesn't flinch, he smirks at her attempts to hurt him. I
watch as Titus stands up and storms over to his wife and the guy named Jackson, he pulls
Emberly back in his chest and she shivers. "What are you two talking about?" I move closer
to hear them talking.
"We are talking about Ben and his sporting commitments and how much our son has
achieved," Emberly smiles at him and wraps an arm around him for a hug. His own large
arm goes around her and he presses his lips against hers, "we were also talking about you."
"Me? What about me?" He asks looking between her and Jackson.
"How much of a mean person you were back in the days," she winks at him, his eyebrows
raise and he crosses his arms over his chest. "Not to me of course," she places her hand on
his chest and kisses his cheek. He smirks and pulls her as close as possible to him.

"Little Lacuna, this is Amy. Amy this is Faye," I look at a brown headed girl with green eyes,
pale skin, lanky and short. She seems shy so I smile and wave at her.
"Hello," I chirp.
"Hello," She shyly replies to me. Tyrese smirks looking down at her, I can tell he loves her
innocence.
"No need to be shy babe, you aren't in the bed-" she gasps and slaps her hand over his
mouth. I give them an amused look and shake my head at Tyrese and his antics. She's
blushing a dark red and is avoiding meeting both of our eyes. She smiles at me and walks
off as Amalia calls her over. "Isn't she amazing?" He asks.
"Yeah but you're obviously a handful. Poor girl, you're embarrassing her! Have you said that
in front of everyone here?" I ask with raised eyebrows. He shakes his head and starts
laughing.
"Just you, don't worry."
"Lunch is ready! Everyone outside!" Jarrad shouts, carrying two plates in each hand.
Everyone contributes taking stuff out onto our massive table, I take my seat next to Brock
and Amy and grab a plate.
"So Amy, when did you and Tyrese start dating?" Emberly asks, everyone goes silent and
they pay attention to Amy. She blushes and Tyrese places his hand over hers, she smiles
and takes a deep breath.
"Um we started dating about 3 and a half months ago," she answers.
"Oh, how'd you guys meet?" Cadence asks.
"We met at a party. Our friends introduced us to each other, we hung out at the party and he
asked for my number and we started talking a lot. He then asked me out on a date, that lead
to more then he asked me to be his girlfriend," mum nods and claps.
"Well at least he did it the good way unlike Val," mum comments; dad huffs and crosses his
arms over his chest.
"How'd you and dad meet?" Brock asks.
Us kids watch our parents reactions, most of them are coughing whereas some have
unimpressed looks on their face. Obviously it wasn't the best way, I've never asked my
parents how they met. I know mum had a brother, but he died somehow. She didn't get to
have a funeral for him and she felt as if he didn't deserve it, so he was just buried
somewhere. She was the only one there to watch his body be buried in the ground. It's quite
sad. "Now that's a story for another day children," dad says.
The doorbell rings and I stand up, "I'll get it." I walk out of the room filled with awkwardness
and straight to the door. I swing it open and my eyes widen slightly, "Jake. What are you
doing here?"
