Hey!
Chapter Eight "Drunk, scared, feelings."
Listen to 'Time after Time' by Cyndi Lauper because it's my favourite song currently.
I'm surrounded. Surrounded by people who are suffering with their own trauma and want to
forget. I'm like every other week person out there who thinks drinking can solve all the
problems in this world.
The music is loud, people are dancing so boldly with no shame whatsoever. They're
forgetting and enjoying themselves. Then there's others, playing beer pong or some sort of
alcohol game to 'have fun.'
It feels like I'm not meant to be in this sort of scene, yet here I am... and I'm desperate to fit
in for once. Desperate to be a normal teenager and experience new things that everyone
else does. I, Faye Lacuna am at a party and vow to enjoy it. Holding back a smile, I walk
over to the drinks area and pour myself a shot of vodka and throw it down. I then fill up a
whole glass filled with the stuff that burns my throat.
"Faye Lacuna... at a party?" I spin around and raise my eyebrows at a guy I believed to be
named Mitchell. He looks shocked as hell as he pours some coke into a cup then some rum.
I eye it as he brings it to his lips and makes a sound of contentment. "This is the best sh*t
right here," he raises his glass.
"Let me try some," not waiting for his permission, I snatch the glass and take a sip of the
beverage. I nod slowly and hand him his glass back, "not bad I suppose."
"Not bad," he scoffs. "It's freaking amazing!" He throws his hands up in the air making me
laugh.
"Okay, okay... its amazing," I smile and he sighs.
"So Faye Lacuna, what are you doing at a party? Doesn't seem like your scene to be
honest," My eyebrows raise.
"Doesn't seem like my scene? We were born to party Mitchell, some more than others. I'm
trying to have fun," he studies my face for a while then shrugs and offers me his hand.
"It's not a party without a dance," I take his hand and smile.
"What a gentlemen you are," I tease as he leads me to the dance floor. The music is up beat
and it sends vibrations through my body, it feels like I'm going to explode soon of too much
radiation exposure. I hope the beats of the music is actually radiation exposure... or maybe
I've just had too much to drink.
His hands settle on my hips, it doesn't feel right and it makes me feel uncomfortable but I
don't remove them. I sway my hips and let myself go to the music and alcohol. "You're a
pretty neat dancer," He huskily whispers into my ear. The uncomfortable feeling in my
stomach increases and I grab his hands, trying to get them off me. "What's wrong? You were
all for me touching you before."
"No I wasn't. That's just all in your stupid head that thinks girls want you to touch them," I spit
out. He glares and tightens his hold on me, it hurts and I try shoving him away but I'm not
strong enough.
"Leave her alone," Tyler growls grabbing Mitchell by the back of the neck and pulling him off
me. "That's no way to treat a lady," he glares daggers at Mitchell.
Mitch smirks and looks around, searching for something. "Lady... I see no lady around here,"
Tyler tenses and lunges at him- gripping his throat.
"I suggest you apologise for being such a d*ck head to Faye, do it sincerely too," Tyler says
through clenched teeth. Mitch states in shock and fear and grips at Tyler's hands, trying to
get him to realise him. "Apologise," he growls.
Mitch looks at me, barley breathing. "I-I'm sorry," he wheezes out. Tyler still doesn't realise
his hold on him, I grab Tyler's arm in worry.
"Tyler, he apologised. You can put him down now," Tyler takes a deep breath and releases
him, he drops to the floor gasping for air. Now I know that he's strong, nice and can have a
temper. Mitch scrambles off in fear afterwards, Tyler inspects me to see if I'm okay. "Tyler, I
know that he had a tight grip on me that slightly hurt and was being rude.... but you didn't
need to choke him," I softly say.
He runs a hand through his hair, "well your... never mind. I had to, okay? I can't just let that
bastard think he can treat girls like that."
"I know and I'm thankful, just promise you won't hurt him anymore... leave that to me, my
dad does give me some defence training," I laugh humourlessly. He nods and grabs a bottle
of beer, he walks past me not saying another word and leaving me all alone. The bottom
floor feels too crowded, it's like I'm stuck and I can't move or breathe. I push past people, my
aim is to get to the stairs and I make it up them. It's quieter up here, but I can still feel the
beats of the music and hear it too as well as the very loud chatter. Not many people are up
here, rooms are taken but I notice one is vacant so I walk in there and sit on the bed to calm
myself.
"Waiting for someone?" A male voice who I can't recognise questions. I turn on the lamp and
see a very drunk male filled with testosterone. I gulp, not wanting to deal with another male
touching me. But the moment that I thought about going up the stairs and decided to go into
a room I should have known and not been so dumb. Someone surely would have come,
seeking for a good 'lay' but I'd like to keep my virginity intact.
"Yes, I am," I lie trying to get him out.
"I'm sure he won't mind," he says closing the door and locking it. My heart beat sky rockets
and the fear swells to an uncontrollable amount, I keep a far distance from him. He walks
closer, eyeing me like I'm some sort of meal.
"What won't he mind?" It was a stupid question. I know I shouldn't have asked or expected a
different answer to what he gave me.
"If I have my way with you," he smirks and comes charging at me. I kick him in the shin and
scream bloody murder, praying that someone will hear and come to my rescue. But I'm at a
party where the meaning of music means something loud and the drinks are hardcore.
"Stay away from me," I warn him.
"YOU B*TCH!" He yelps. Holding his shin trying to soothe the pain from my kick, I run
towards the door- unlocking it and throwing it open. But he's strong and recovered quickly,
he pulls me back making me scream. I try to bring my foot back far enough to kick him in the
groin, but he sees it coming and slams me down onto the ground painfully. I cry out, knowing
that there's many bruises to come. I bite his hand as he covers my mouth to try and silence
the screaming. He yanks himself back, I get up and bolt with him chasing after me. I look for
a familiar face, but there's no one.
"Somebody, help!" I scream. People watch me as I run, but nobody does anything. Until I'm
yanked into the guys body, I struggle in his arms.
"What the hell are you doing?" Jake growls, charging over towards him and grabbing my
body harshly and protectively. He pushes me into Max then his fist goes flying in his face,
the other guy trying to fight him back but Jake is much stronger. Jake slams his body to the
ground continuously, I shut my eyes tightly. Hearing the sounds of bones cracking, someone
touches me and I flinch back. My eyes are filled with tears but I won't let them spill.
"Faye," Ruby whispers and hugs me tightly. She doesn't stop even though my arms are just
limp against my sides, have you ever felt so many emotions all at once just swarming in your
brain and it gets too much to handle all at once so you're lost on what to do? The emotions
make your heart physically hurt, it makes everything hurt until you don't want to feel a thing.
It's getting too much to handle trying to keep it all in, I don't realise I'm full on sobbing until
my knees are shaking and I can't walk.
"Bring her here," Jake snaps. Ruby releases me and new arms are in replace of hers, warm,
large, muscular arms that make me feel tingly. I move my head neck from being pressed
against his chest and I just stare into his eyes.
"J-Jake," he silently observes me and I break down again. "Don't leave me alone please," I
sob, his arms tighten and I feel his fists clench.
"You're staying at mine tonight," he says lifting me bridal style. "Nick, tell your parents she's
staying at a friends."
Jake begins walking again, I hear a car door opening and Jake gently puts me in the back
seat. He gets in next to me and sits me on his lap, "where are we?" I whisper not wanting to
look at him or anyone.
"In Max's car, everyone's coming back to my place," I nod and the car starts. Everything is
silent except for my sniffles and the quiet talk between Max and Ruby. "He won't touch you
again," Jake assures me.
After a ten minute drive, the car stops and my body is lifted out of the car. I look up, we are
at a massive house that someone very rich lives in. Then I remember Jake telling me that
everyone's going back to his place. I don't think too much of it after the events that have
happened tonight, but I'm sure I will tomorrow. Jake carries me inside and sits me on his bed
after walking up the stairs, I know it's his bed because it smells of him. He's about to walk
out of the room but I grab his hand making him look down at me, "please don't leave."
He sighs and lays down next to me after kicking off his shoes, I can't seem to look at his
face. He doesn't like that very much, he grabs my chin and forces me to look into his eyes.
"Look at me," he whispers gruffly.
"I'm looking," I softly say.
"You're going to be okay," he says. I snuggle into him, it's wrong but it feels so right.
"I've never been okay."
