CHAPTER 14:

"Look, I don't get why he can't come to school with us. He needs to experience things even if
it's as shi**y as school," Nick grumbles as he walks beside me down the hall.
"That's why you and mum were fighting?" I ask as we stop at my locker. He leans against the
locker next to mine and crosses his arms over his chest, sighing deeply. "Look, we both want
Brock at school but we need to think of his well being."
He growls under his breath and cracks his fingers, "Brock should get a choice." We both
think Brock should get a choice but we know what's best for him in the end, Nick secretly
knows too.
"What are you two going on about?" Chad asks as he leans against the other locker next to
mine. I roll my eyes and shove his face, he groans in pain and glares at me.
"Go away, Chad. No one actually likes you," I say.
"Hey! I like Chad," Nick is quick to defend him. I roll my eyes, of course he'd say that. I swear
they like each other more than friends if you know what I mean.
"Of course you'd say that," I mutter almost quietly. "Can you both get away from my locker
and leave me alone? You're kind of bringing unwanted attention over here," I say, shoving
them both. As everyone knows, I'm not very keen on the idea of attention. Usually every time
attention is drawn to me its because something bad has happened or they know something
bad will happen. So this kind of makes me suspicious.
"It's not like we are doing anything bad, Faye," Chad rolls his eyes at my nervousness. Well
they aren't good together, whenever they are together they hurt someone and that person is
usually me. I'm the constant target.
"The real question is if you're going to do something soon," I emphasise the if. They both roll
their eyes, Nick pushes off the locker and makes Chad follow him as they walk away from
me; I'm left in one piece, I feel relieved. I jump in shock and fright as Ruby jumps out of no
where and grins at me like a child on crack. "Ruby, you scared me," I remove my hand that I
had placed on my erratic beating heart.
She giggles, "sorry I'm just so excited to see you again!" She exclaims. I chuckle and slam
my locker closed then lock the lock, I wrap my arm around the books and hold them against
my chest.
"Ruby, we only saw each other a couple of days ago," I say to her as we walk side by side to
my first class.
"I know! But I heard Jake went over to your house and had lunch with you and your family,"
she casually says making me pause my movements of walking. She stops and looks back at
me in confusion, "why'd you stop?"
I shake my head and clear my throat, "Jake told you?" she nods after I ask her and that
makes me groan. I don't really want people knowing, it's not as if I actually wanted him to
come inside my mother just appeared out of nowhere.

"Don't worry, only me, Max and Tyler know. No one else. BUT more people could find out if
Chad and your brother say something," she says. She is so right, they would probably do
that and it would be scandalous! Everyone would believe every dirty word that they spill.
Maybe that's what they're planning next, I need to be prepared, I need to be one step ahead.
"Look, I got to go but I'll talk later," I say and run off before she can ask where exactly I'm
going.
--
"Jeremy! I do not know what to do, what if the whole god damned school finds out? I cant
afford for that to happen! They'll probably say some nasty things," I'm panicking as I consult
my teacher for help. He isn't even my teacher, he's just a teacher.
"You know what would make me feel 100 times more comfortable? If you called me mr
Carter, it's weird when a student calls me Jeremy." He shudders in what seems like disgust
while completely dismissing what I had just told him.
"Hello?! Were you not paying attention? My life is about to be destroyed and you are
panicking about me calling you Jeremy? Honestly, I have real problems and I need your
guidance! What do I do?" I scratch my head in frustration and almost pull out my hair.
"You need to calm your farm, you're stressing me out. Faye who cares what people think?
You need to stop caring about what they could say, you need to stop stressing about
something that hasn't happened. When it does happen that's when you can start stressing
out. Kate never cared what people thought of her, she hated everyone so that's practically
the only reason why but still' you shouldn't care either, they aren't you friends! The only
opinions you need are you friends and family, okay?" After he says this I feel slightly calm,
my heart stops beating 100 times an hour and my breathing is actually normal.
"Tell me another story to make me feel better."
~~ Flashback~~
"So do you want to come over to my house Saturday night Jerry?" She bats her false lashes
at me and calls me that awful nickname that makes me want to throw up. I shake her off my
arm which makes her frown, she's like a god damned koala.
"Nah, I'm good. I've got plans," I reject her offer as kindly as I can. She obviously doesn't
take that too well, she makes an over dramatic noise and slams her hand against my chest.
"Do you not like me anymore? Are you seeing someone else?!" She screeches at me, I
wince and rub my ears
"Jessica, I was never interested in you," I'm completely disinterested with what she has to
say. I notice Kate looking over, curious as to what is going on. She meets my eye, her own
widening before she whips her head back around to her locker, I chuckle.
"It's her isn't it? She's the slut you're screwing! You wont get away from this you skank!" She
shouts very loudly, Kate turns around as Jessica comes charging at her, I sigh and quickly
follow before she can most likely hurt herself. I grab her wrist and spin her around, pinning
her with a deadly annoyed glare.
"Don't f**king put a hand on her, don't even say those words that you just said about her or
anyone else. Jessica I know it's hard to hear, but you're the skank," she gasps and tears
brim the edges of her eyes and she makes a dramatic crying noise. I'm not really surprised
when she stops crying and slaps me across the face then storms off. Everyone is silent, I
look down at Kate, she blinks.
"You have lovely taste in girls," her words are dripping with sarcasm.
"I know," I say with a deeper meaning while smirking.
~~ Flashback over~~
"Oh god," I slap my forehead and shake my head in disappointment.
"What?" He asks in confusion.
"You were so cringe back in the days," I grimace, he growls under his breath and crosses his
arms over his chest.
"I was not!" He attempts to defend himself.
"Oh you so were," I make a face. He should definitely be embarrassed with his old self, I
mean, my generation is quite cringe worthy and most people are imbeciles but we have no
excuse. We can change our ways so we don't become like Jeremy Carter.
"You are plain rude," he comments, obviously deeply offended. "I can give you a detention
for skipping class missy," he tries to act tough but it just makes me laugh; I know he wouldn't
give me a detention.
"You can but you wont."
"Yeah, I'm going to get in a lot of trouble if anyone finds out. So you better get going now
before I'm forced to give you one," I roll my eyes and stand up, I give him a salute and walk
out of the room. I'm roaming the halls when a teacher appears out of nowhere, not looking
happy at all. In fact, I believe that he is one of my teachers, the teachers class I just skipped.
This isn't looking too good for me at all.
"DETENTION!"
Well, it wouldn't have mattered if Jeremy gave me a detention anyway because I just got
one...
"You skipped class?! This is so not like you, has something been happening that I don't know
of? Are you being bullied and is it affecting your schooling? Oh I will get your father to go in
there and beat those little punks!" mum shouts angrily, dad pauses biting into his
cheeseburger and looks over at mum.
"No I wont, they're kids honey... They make mistakes and they are all stupid, I could face
charges, if you really want them to get beaten up get Nick to do it," dad shrugs, mums mouth
goes agape and she places her hands on her hips.
"Are you sure you're my husband Valentino Lacuna? I don't think you are. My Valentino isn't
soft when it comes to someone messing with his family... Val... YOU HAVE GONE
COMPLETELY SOFT!! Something is wrong with you, you need to get checked out because
this isn't normal behaviour," mum paces the room and I watch in complete amusement all
the while thinking. 'My mother is crazy.'
"Just because I don't want to beat up some teenager doesn't mean I've gone soft. I'm a
parent now Willow, I'm somewhat more understanding and caring and I know for a fact that if
some parent smashed Nick's head in I would consider that horrible and immature." Mum
shakes her head at dad, they don't even realise I skipped class to talk to mr Carter about my
worries because of Chad and Nick. No one is bullying me, except for Chad mostly.
"Your sex appeal has dropped about 100 notches, I feel no sexual desire for you now. I don't
think I will for a while now, I feel so much disgrace and disappointment," she even shakes
her head and looks away from him as if looking at him disgusts her. Brock grimaces, so does
Nick and I. No child wants to hear about their parents sexual desires.
"Mum, no one is bullying me. I just didn't feel like going, I'm sure you and dad skipped a few
classes when you were younger," a loud crash echoes through the room and our mouths
drop open.
Mum actually fainted.
"Well I'm guessing she didn't skip a class," dad says while looking down at her. We all give
him a look.
"You think?!"
