CHAPTER 41:
A few weeks later
It has almost been 2 and a half months since I discovered I was pregnant. Pregnancy has been more tough then I thought. The mood swings being constant, a deep sadness at times. Don't forget waking up every morning with my head in a toilet bowl.
How are there women out there that don't get nauseous?
In two weeks I can go to find out the sex of my baby then have a gender reveal event. Then soon after my baby shower. The whole family have been visiting more often seeing I don't have the effort to drive and see them. I don't even have the effort to go to school.
I'm not even 4 months pregnant and I already feel like death. I hope I don't have a pregnancy like Kim Kardashian.
Boy that would be the absolute worst.
"I made you some healthy lunch," mum enters the room, clearly having been in the kitchen for longer then necessary.
She passes me a bowl which contains a salad, well spinach and some cooked steak. I look at her and smile, noticing how she loaded up on the vegetable side of things and added nuts and a meat.
"Thanks. Am I allowed to eat this?" I question.
"Hun, considering I ate foods that apparently youre not supposed to eat while pregnant and you're fine now- I would say it is fine to eat what I made," she responds and places her hands on her hips.
"Hm, okay," I shrug and accept it happily.
Mum sits next to me and sighs, looking at me with a soft face. "Faye," she softly says.
I peer up at her whilst eating, "mum."
"We have to plan your baby shower!" She exclaims in excitement. "Oh and the gender reveal first of course," she squeals in excitement.
Nick, Dad and Jake walk into the room all holding a beer and talking. I stare at them for a moment, wondering how my family really feels about Jake after everything that he has done. He looks at me and winks, sitting on the couch opposite to me; I frown.
"Yes, which I'm going for soon," I announce.
Jake and I have decided to get the results, not be told on the day but do one of those gender reveal things. Either with a cake, balloons or something. We are get to decide.
"What are you going for soon?" Nick asks me.
"The gender reveal stuff," I say.
"When?" Dad asks, getting excited.
"Well I googled and Google says they can discover the gender from like 18 to 21 weeks. However some can find out as early as 14 weeks," I respond.
"How far along are you now?" Mum asks.
"3 months," I know it seems like it hasn't been that long but apparently I showed symptoms a bit later.
Dad sits on the other side of me and slings his arm over my shoulder, squeezing me to his side very tightly. I'm glad I've finished eating because if I wanted the food that has spilled on me, I would have a rage fit.
"I would like to throw your baby shower," mum smiles.
"Of course. But it's definitely going to be after the gender reveal," mum rolls her eyes at me and nudges me gently.
"Of course, silly," she smiles brightly.
"Now everyone's coming over tonight for a nice barbecued dinner. The sages, Greys, Jones, Saunders, Edwards and Hales will all be here," dad says.
"So the whole gang will be here?" I ask with raised eyebrows and look at Jake whom gulps. So he should.
"Yeah," dad nods.
"Why couldn't you just say that then?" Mum asks and giggles.
Dad huffs and crosses his arms over his chest, "whatever, I just thought I would say everyone's family name."
I stand up, smiling softly. "I'll be back, I'm just going to the bathroom," I announce.
Jake frowns, looking concerned. I turn my back on him and walk away to the downstairs bathroom, very quickly. Once I step into the bathroom I lift my shirt and look at my belly as I feel the churns in my stomach.
A knock echoes on the door and it opens straight away, I quickly drop my shirt snd look in the reflection of the mirror at Jake. He comes close to me and turns me around gently and slowly.
"Is everything okay?" He asks.
"I-I don't know. I feel nauseous which is obviously normal. But things feel really weird," I stutter.
His eyes widen and he lifts me up straight away, "we are going to the hospital right now. I am not ignoring your concerns like those stupid doctors that have. I've heard the stories Faye, we are going. No questions or arguments please."
Dad stands up straight away and rushes to me, in Jakes arms not able to get a word in. "What happened? Is she okay? Are you okay?" Dad asks.
"She-"
"Guys, can you let me get a word in please? I'm fine, Jake put me down. I just feel sick and something feels off," I shrug.
Jake still doesn't put me down, he holds me tighter so I don't try and move. The door bursts open and everyone comes inside, smiles bright on their faces. Until they see me, in Jakes arms. I dont know if they stopped smiling at the site of me in a crippled state or the sight of Jake.
Everyone rushes to my side, ignoring Jake whom is holding me. This does not make me happy whatsoever.
"You realise i am currently in the arms of my babies father. Please show respect and at least greet him or talk to him," I glare at each one of them.
They all apologise and ask me profusely what happened, I feel flustered with everyone surrounding me snd I sigh. "Guys, take a step away. Give Faye a break. I'm going to take her to the hospital and I will let you know how she is," Jake instructs.
"I'm coming of course," mum says.
"I don't need to go to the hospital, just put me down!" I yell. He gives me a look snd shakes his head, walking to the car with mum on our trail. He places me gently in the passenger side of the car and closes the door and walks to the drivers side. Mum gets in the back and Jake starts driving straight away.
My arms keep crossed over my chest and I don't speak to Jake although he tries starting conversations. I completely blow him off because I think he is being over dramatic.
We arrive at the hospital and I get out of the car straight away. He scolds me, "you shouldn't be standing. I'll carry you."
I push him away and shake my head, "I'm fine to walk."
He huffs and grabs my hand, leading the way inside. "Emergency! Emergency!" Mum shouts running to the reception lady.
"My girlfriend is pregnant and she's been feeling very off. I demand for a doctor to see her straight away!" Jake demands.
Her eyes widen and she calls someone on the phone. A minute later, a wheel chair is brought out and I am instructed to sit on it. I sigh and plop down. Jake and my mum follow the nurse into a room and I'm moved from the wheel chair to a bed.
The doctor walks into the room, "so what seems to be the issue today?" A male doctor asks.
"Just really nauseous and things don't feel right. So my boyfriend and family demanded I be here to get checked," I grumble.
He nods, "may you lift your shirt?" I nod and lift my shirt. He frowns and puts some cold gel on my stomach and begins the ultrasound. He stares intently at the screen and I gulp.
"Is there anything wrong?" Mum asks, wanting to know urgently.
"There doesn't seem to be anything wrong. Solid growth rate, the baby is moving around a lot. I would say the sex will be able to be determined in a week or two. I'd say things feel weird due to the position your baby is in," he points to the screen to show me.
Everyone sighs in relief, including me. "That's great news. Thank you doctor," I smile. He smiles back and Jake comes closer to me, passing me a tissue to wipe the gel off.
"Can we book an appointment for the gender next week? However we want it to be a surprise so it would be good if you put it in a letter so we could like send it to someone to put the colours in a balloon for example," Jake asks.
"Yeah sure. I will just put it into the computer now," he sits down on the chair and gets up the dates. Doctor Berry is in his mid forties, his grey hair appearing slightly and wrinkles forming.
"Could have been much worse Faye," mum scolds me. There was nothing wrong?
"How does the 7th- a Saturday at 9am sound?" He asks, spinning his chair around.
"Perfect," I say and smile.
