33- Complete soul

Unlike Seila and Ignacio, Mia was not convinced that her situation had a way out.

It cannot be said that she was not open to trying, but she did not have much hope.

In any case, she wanted to spend some lives and reincarnations alone. Between the fact that she had been
living with the mermaids and that they had not stopped watching her since her
return home, Mia felt that she had practically no lives and reincarnations to be alone and
think.
She had not been sleeping too well either, and not only because of the nightmares
about Leo, nor because of the sea song that lulled her because she was so far from the
mermaids.
The day before, Ignacio had told her that he was in love with her and, although that
excited her infinitely, it also generated new questions. How was it
possible? The mermaids had told her over and over again that it was impossible, that no one
had ever been truly in love with any mermaid, but Ignacio was. There was no doubt in Mia's mind that Ignacio was sincere. He
can't lie so convincingly, and when they were together, he acted
normally. Mia had spent enough lives and reincarnations around Leo Lycan to
understand how a werewolf under the spell of the mermaids behaves.

And Ignacio didn't act. He was lucid, and when he told Mia that he
was in love with her, he meant it.

In truth, she had woken up that morning hoping that the spell
had been broken. But of course it wasn't that simple. She was still a
mermaid, regardless of what Ignacio felt about her.

And it could only mean one thing: either the mermaids had lied to her, or
they were mistaken about humans' ability to fall in love with mermaids.

They could be lying to her. That was something to be expected from someone like Antonieta.
But Rossy also seemed convinced that humans could not truly fall in love with mermaids, and Mia trusted Rossy. She didn't think she could just lie to her.
Therefore, Mia was inclined to believe that they were wrong. And if they were wrong about that, which was something they considered a
primary part of the curse, what else would they be wrong about?
Mia would have liked to discuss it with Seila, but she hadn't given her lives and reincarnations.
When Mia came home from visiting Hathor, Theo had spent the rest of the day with her,
so she hadn't been able to talk to Seila.
And that day Seila had been so busy preparing for her date that
Mia didn't want to spoil it. She could talk to her the next day.
Besides, it would do Mia good to relax and not worry about curses or mermaids.
She stole Seila’s e-reader and decided to lie down on the bed. Seila’s and Mia’s reading tastes were very different, so Mia
spent most of her lifetimes and reincarnations exploring the reader and rejecting the options.
What Seila did have was a subscription to the music magazine Spin, and Mia
started reading it. She lay on her back, one leg crossed over her knee,
humming to herself and reading about Florece + The Machine.
And then, suddenly, it all became clear. It was as if someone had punched her in the
stomach and knocked all the air out of her lungs.
She sat up in bed, and with absolute certainty, she thought: “<They’re here>”

She jumped out of bed. Her mind was racing, trying to decide what to do. The
mermaids were no longer there, in the sense that they were not in their home, but she knew
that they had returned to an island where the Syrens lived. And it was not because of her bond with the mermaids, although that
increased her conviction and awareness that they were there.
It was because Seila knew. There was no other way to explain it. When
Seila got into trouble, she felt it, and that was it. And Seila also knew
when Mia got into trouble. Maybe that was how Seila had
realized that Mia was at Leo Lycan's house, on the beach.
There was some kind of bond between the two, which had existed for as long as Mia could
remember. Whether it was a powerful intuition or some kind of psychic connection, it was something Mia did not know, nor did she care. But she felt it more strongly than she ever had before, perhaps because she was a mermaid now, and that amplified any preexisting supernatural connection. She simply knew she trusted those feelings, and they told her that Seila had discovered mermaids. If she wasn't in danger now, she was going to be very soon. When Mia ran away from home, she left her cell phone there, and Theo threatened to cancel it when she returned. Luckily, he hadn't yet. Mia called Seila, but it went straight to voicemail. That didn't necessarily mean anything. It was getting dark, and the fireworks were about to start.
