6- Into my Heart

I knew that both of us had decided to come to the surface by our own decision, we were both
adults and the more liberal and Dionysian part of me just wanted to dance and have fun, to
see the man who had been starring in my dreams since the first night I met him. But another
part of me, the more rational one, knew that they had discovered our secret. And just for the
fact of having caught us in a net, they deserved death, as it was a totally disrespectful action to
treat a mermaid. We were mythological creatures, direct descendants of the Goddess of the
sea. But I didn't take the rules so seriously and I knew that among humans it was quite natural
to make mistakes and only rectify them after realizing they had made a mistake. That was
something that distinguished mermaids from humans, we valued our relationships to avoid
hurting or making a mistake towards another, while humans tended to make mistakes or harm
others, and as they valued personal relationships, they would improve their interpersonal
relationships.
I sighed, resigned to stay with them and tucked a strand of my blonde hair behind my ear, I
looked at the boy who had given me his jacket, he was so unsettlingly mysterious, I wondered
if he also felt attracted to me.
- Alright - Seila said with a seductive voice, she had regained her natural posture and
composure. Apparently it was due to her closeness to her human, Edgar.
- We will tell you everything about the mermaids, only with one condition.
- You must swear by the oath of the Goddess of the Sea that you will not tell our secrets, and
you will tell us everything you know about the werewolves.
- I think that's an acceptable deal.
- Ignacio knows everything about the werewolves - Edgar said, looking at the other man,
whose coat enveloped me, then his name was Ignacio, I understood.
- Then let's go to the boat - Ignacio said - There is dinner for you, we were thinking of inviting
you to dinner, capturing you in such a disrespectful way was not part of the plan.
Well, it's too late for apologies - I said dryly, then I rolled my eyes towards the boat. I sighed
in relief, I was starving and after all the planning that night was about going out to eat and
have fun, maybe the night wouldn't be so bad.
The boat was luxurious, stranded on the beach, I climbed barefoot, as I hadn't had time to put
on my heels. Ignacio climbed onto the boat first, followed by Edgar, as he climbed up he
extended his hand to me.
I looked at his hand, his hairy arm and his warm body haunted me in my mermaid dreams.
Taking his hand was something I did naturally, pretending not to care.
- Thank you - I whispered.
Entering the yacht, I was surprised by the decoration, it was really beautiful, the lit candles
gave the impression of floating over the dark sea unfolding on the horizon, also the fresh and
cold night breeze enlivened the candles without blowing them out, making them grow and
illuminate everything with a yellow and shimmering light so similar to shooting stars. Ignacio
was really kind, in front of us there was a table set with a dinner that looked delicious, like a
feast, I wondered if he had prepared the food with his own hands. He pulled the chair back
with his gaze fixed on me, and I sat down.
- Thank you - I whispered again, aware that it was the second time I thanked him, after he had
apologized for allowing us to be caught in a fishing net like animals.
But I wouldn't forgive him so easily, I wasn't angry, but at the same time captivated by his
company. I enjoyed that he was kind to me and my sister and I enjoyed knowing that he was
there, so close to me, with his small group of male friends. Because at some point,
remembering the previous days, I had the idea of never seeing him again. It was absurd to
think so much and now that I had him in front of me to pretend such indifference, his
presence simply shocked me. I sighed deeply.
Seila poured herself a glass of wine as she sat at the table next to Edgar, she didn't enjoy
alcohol as much as my sister, like Yryhnna, we preferred to enjoy other pleasures that humans
usually had. In our realm there was also alcohol, and we celebrated during parties and
gatherings with an exquisite champagne so similar to the pink bourbon they drank. At that
moment I saw a bottle of bourbon next to the wine, and smiled pleased.
- Would you like a glass of red wine or do you prefer bourbon? - Mathias asked, addressing
me. It was the first time I had looked into his eyes, I understood why Seila was so fascinated by
that human. His eyes were deeply bright like the yellow reflection of the moon moving the
calm sea. His pupil was a deep dark blue, but in the center of the iris a yellow sun spread
painting his gaze with golden patches.
- I prefer bourbon, I love it - I admitted sweetly with my seductive mermaid voice.
At that moment I realized that I had not used my seductive mermaid voice with Ignacio all
night. Big mistake! I couldn't neglect my mermaid nature in front of a human, just because I
was angry. So I turned to Ignacio, who was sitting next to me and to my surprise his eyes were
fixed on me, looking at me with an intensity that disarmed me, then I could only do what my
senses allowed me to try to conquer his dormant desire. I smiled deeply at him and sent him a
telepathic message.
"Make me yours, I'm dying for you to make me yours and make love to me." I said in my
thoughts, looking into his deep brown eyes until I lost my breath.
- Alright - Mathias interrupted - Now that these beautiful mermaids have accepted our
invitation, and we can enjoy a lovely evening, I want to start by saying that we are werewolf
hunters and if the mermaids are enemies of the werewolves, they are our friends by nature -
said Mathias and at that moment he raised his glass.
- Let's toast - Seila and he delicately clinked their glasses, and I could perceive a future image.
Seila and Mathias getting married, both toasting at their wedding with their arms linked as
they drank from their glasses. I smiled blissfully. How would that be possible? I raised my glass
and toasted with them, and secretly, I toasted for their future love.
I also thank you for sparing our lives when releasing us - Ignacio said and everyone laughed
lightly, he was funny.
- So I will start by telling how the sirens and werewolves became enemies from ancient times -
I said with a seductive voice - It was a long time ago, this story was told to me by my mother,
and our grandmother told it to her. And that's how we have kept our history alive for
generations.
