8 - Love Me Love Me
Yryhnna and Mathías had initiated a search by sea and land, with the help of other Lycans on land and the mermaid marine guard at sea. The father of the mermaids, King Triton Augustus, had been alerted that two of his daughters were at sea, one of them kidnapped by a werewolf on the yacht where all of them—werewolves and mermaids—had been caught by mermaid hunters.
"My father is so upset; as the older sister, I should have listened to his warnings instead of telling the story of the mermaids and letting myself be seduced by the evening. I should have returned with my sisters," Yryhnna lamented.
"You mustn't lament; with us, the werewolves protected and safeguarded them. If the mermaid hunters had caught you alone with them, you would have had a very frightening moment. You were very fortunate to be protected and in good company."
"You're right; being with werewolves gave us advantages, and we were all able to escape, but I wish we were together."
"You'll be together soon," Mathías assured. "You are going to return to your sisters; Edgar has already alerted all the Lycan packs, and we will find them."
Yryhnna sighed. At that moment, as she turned, she looked at her husband Alan, who had taken the form of a human man and was dressed in jeans.
When Yryhnna looked at Alan, she leaped into his arms and hugged him tightly, her eyes filling with tears.
"I know, princess, you must not fear; you must be brave. They are safe; we just need to find them all."
"The mermaid hunters are loose at sea," Yryhnna said in a whisper, as her husband Alan began to brush and caress her hair.
"I spoke with your father; we will set sail immediately for the Greek Islands and warn Oceania of any attacks from the Sirens. I swear they will not harm you, nor Seila and Mía. They will be protected by their Goddesses and ancestors, and we will find them soon."
Yryhnna and Alan kissed deeply, and she accompanied him to the pier where mermen were submerged in the sea. Alan dove off the cliff, and a few minutes later, he joined them, now with the muscular body of a man and the tail of a merman.
Yryhnna watched her husband disappear into the water. Mathías observed her cautiously from a distance; noticing her pensive expression, he approached her after a few seconds.
"I have traveled the entire sea, always singing and revealing the mysteries of our Goddess Isis. I have swum through the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, and Arctic Oceans, and I have never felt farther from home than tonight. I try to contact Mía telepathically, and I know she is not at sea; the ocean is silent in complicity with the desolate heart," Yryhnna said, staring fixedly towards the sea, as she listened to the now-muted battle between the mermaids of the Oceanic guard against vampires, mermaid hunters hired by the sirens who transform into monstrous women, syrens.
"You must not fear; luckily, the mermaid guard arrived on time, and with Daniel's help, we were able to stop them. I am sure your sister Mía is safe; Ignacio will take care of her."
"Now I have to trust a Lycan I have only seen tonight to protect the life of my younger sister?"
"She will be fine; I just ask that you do not worry."
"Seila, I can't feel her either," Yryhnna said with a voice full of anguish.
"Seila is with Daniel; I saw them get into the boat while we were still in combat. They will be fine; Daniel will contact me soon."
Yryhnna sighed deeply and looked at Mathías's face; there was a slight scratch on his cheeks, and his masculine, prominent chin was stained with blood—vampire blood—and his shirt was slightly wrinkled and torn with bloodstains. Yryhnna looked at him with compassion and gratitude; he had saved her life.
"How are you?" she asked gently. "You've been hurt," she said, touching Mathías's cheek. She brought her thumb to his plump, pink lips and licked it, then proceeded to moisten her saliva on Mathías's cheek, and the wound on his face healed immediately, leaving a slight layer of rosy skin that was reborn.
"Thank you so much," Mathías said, bringing his hands to his face, a slight blush rising to his cheeks. Yryhnna smiled, pleased.
"We mermaids have the gift of healing; it is an ancestral gift from Isis that we all possess," she explained.
"I bet it must be wonderful not to worry about cutting your fingers in the kitchen."
"Actually, I am an excellent cook; I never suffer any cuts," Yryhnna admitted, winking. "But when it comes to cooking, I always prefer Alan to do it," Yryhnna explained.
"Oh Alan..."
"Yes, my husband," she said proudly.
"Okay, now I'm going to ask you to accompany me along with Edgar; we will go in a van to the east coast, where there may possibly be a deserted island. We will arrive by boat at dawn; your sister is probably there. This is what the werewolves sense, for the full moon shines in that direction; we will follow the moon's glow."
"The moon guides us tonight," Yryhnna said.
"The moon always guides us," Mathías admitted.
"I love it; I love that you are so connected with the elements that we mermaids also respect and honor. Since ancient feasts, we have always celebrated the beginning of the moon festival, the fourth month of the year."
"We do not celebrate feasts, but whenever an eclipse occurs, the neighboring Lycan packs come together, and we make a bonfire, eat fresh meat, drink wine, and dance until dawn," Mathías said, looking at Yryhnna with playful and childlike eyes, but his smile curved all over his face, giving a seductive look to his masculine features.
"It must be so much fun."
"It is, more fun than any mermaid party you have ever been to."
"I bet it is," Yryhnna admitted with laughter.
