47- Calm your waters mind

The wind blowing in from the bay helped cool his bare skin against the heat of the sun as he entered the harbor. Daniel carefully docked the dirty Seagull at the pier. Once it had stopped, he jumped off the boat and tied it up.

He had barely finished tying the knot when he heard a splash in the water behind him and took a deep breath. He didn't even need to look back to see that it was her. By that point, he could almost feel how she was looking at him.

Maybe Daniel hadn't fallen under the spell of the sirens, as the other werewolves did, but that didn't mean he was completely indifferent to their charms. Antonieta's presence could challenge anyone. When she approached, it felt as though the air changed, and a new electric energy swirled inside him.

As he headed towards dry land from La Isla Syrens, he had thought he saw Antonieta following him. He couldn't be sure, but almost every time he had ventured out to sea, he had thought he saw her shadow just below the water’s surface, the dark silhouette of her fish-like form swimming alongside the boat.

Sometimes he attributed it to his imagination; but when Antonieta showed up at the pier in that manner, it did nothing but confirm his suspicions. She was stalking him.

"What a lovely day for a swim, huh?" Daniel asked.

He glanced back. He couldn't help but notice that Antonieta wasn't wearing the bottom of her bikini. He looked away.

"You'll get caught if you don't cover up," he said as he stood up.

Antonieta chuckled softly.

"I doubt it. I've never been caught for anything."

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw her put on the tiny garment. She twisted it around like a ball into the bikini top.

Daniel went back onto his boat. There was a t-shirt thrown across the deck. He put it on. Antonieta clicked her tongue, disappointed. The werewolf went inside to look for his shoes, and the swinging door closed behind him.

Since he had moved to La Isla Syrens, his old place felt much more spacious, but that made it much harder to find his shoes. They had been moved all over while he was sailing, and now there was plenty of room for them to slide under the bed.

Once he had them in hand, he turned and quickly went back up to the deck. He didn’t trust that Antonieta would wait for him outside without getting into some trouble.

When he pushed open the small door that led back up, he nearly bumped into her. She was standing at the top of the stairs, her long hair dripping water onto her tanned skin and her dark eyes sparkling at him.

"Are you not going to offer me a towel?" Antonieta asked in a velvet voice.

"What are you doing on my boat?" Daniel asked. "I don’t remember inviting you aboard."

"I'm not a vampire," said Antonieta, giving a subtle threatening tone to her words. "I don’t need to be invited."

"I don’t have any more towels on board," Daniel replied.

He climbed up the stairs. As she didn’t move, he pushed past her when he went by.

He felt the warmth of her skin through the shirt and, as he brushed against her, he heard her take a deep breath. However, what startled him wasn't that, but the strange growl she emitted.

It had an inhuman quality, and a certain prehistoric character. It was a soft noise, something Antonieta seemed to have made unconsciously, but it was enough to send chills down Daniel's spine.

"I still haven’t decided what I’ll do with you," Antonieta admitted with a sigh. "At times, I can’t wait to devour you, and the next moment I would rather sleep with you."

"Why would you want to do anything with me?" Daniel asked. He sat down on one of the seats surrounding the boat and put on his shoes.

"I don’t know," she said, and that seemed to annoy her.

Daniel looked up and watched her. She squinted at the radiant sun and leaned back against the seat across from Daniel's. She stretched her long legs and threw her head back, allowing her hair to hang over the edge of the boat.

"Do you know anything about Orpheus?" Antonieta asked.

"No." He finished putting on his shoes and leaned back.

"Should I?"

"He's a very popular figure in Greek history," Antonieta said. "He's known for his musical talent and poetry."

"Sorry, but I don’t read much poetry," Daniel replied.

"Neither do I." She shrugged. "At least not his."

But when he was with her, he had practically stopped writing and had given up his music, going by the name Alan. The “mythology” says he died after his wife’s death, but in reality, he just changed his name and abandoned his old life.

"So he's like you?" Daniel asked. "Immortal or whatever?"

Antonieta nodded.

"That's right. But unlike the sirens, who gained their immortality through a curse, he received his as a blessing. The gods were so pleased with him and his music that they granted him eternal life."

"And why are you asking me about that guy?" Daniel asked. "What does he have to do with me?"

"Maybe nothing." Antonieta crossed her legs and then uncrossed them. "Alan and I were very close for lives and reincarnations. He was one of the few immortals immune to the song of the sea. It did not affect any of the gods or goddesses, but many of the other immortals (humans whose immortality)

This time, before he had even reached the door, he saw Ignacio open it and come out of the office.

"Uh… hey! Hi!" said Seila, who struggled hard to sound happy.

"Hello." Ignacio didn’t even look at her.

He had started working at the port a few weeks ago. Theo had told Seila, but in reality, she hadn’t seen him around yet. In fact, she had barely seen him since Mía had broken up with him, and what she did see surprised her a little.

The hard work at the port had changed his appearance. He wore the gray work coveralls rolled up above the elbow, and the fabric stretched against his biceps. His shoulders looked broader than
