Chapter 15 Sentimental
"Treating every customer fairly is the fundamental principle of this restaurant. Someone who doesn't even adhere to the company's basic principles is not qualified to work here. You are fired,"
Edmund spoke calmly. He then shifted his intense gaze toward Henry and instructed.
"You're in charge of handling this issue. If you handle it correctly, you'll be the supervisor in advance."
"Oh? Thank you, president, for your trust!" Henry exclaimed. He was thrilled by the unexpected chance for advancement.
With the recent scene fresh in his mind, Henry had already deciphered the president's desired course of action. Thus, he proceeded directly to seat No. 22 and firmly stated, "Mr. Hadley, Ms. Collins, I'm sorry, but this table has been reserved. Please choose another table that is not reserved."
"Are you out of your mind?"
She could not tolerate this kind of humiliation, and with a crowd of people watching, Leila's anger flared up instantly.
Thump!
Leila angrily threw her precious LV handbag onto the table and yelled, "I'm warning you to open your eyes wide and see who I am. Lance and I are the esteemed VIP customers of this restaurant. The amount we spend on dining here every month exceeds your yearly salary. That means that you can't afford to offend us!"
Being well aware of Leila's temperament, Henry had already anticipated her ongoing tantrum. He calmly advised her, "If Ms. Collins persists in being unreasonable, I will be left with no choice but to ask security to escort you out."
The four security guards started to approach them.
Despite the situation, Leila persisted with her tantrum as she placed her hands firmly on her hips.
As Lance saw how bad the situation had turned, he quickly intervened and grabbed Leila, advising, "Leila, please stop making a scene. We should leave."
Amidst the guests' disapproving looks, Lance grabbed Leila's handbag and led her away from the seat.
Henry respectfully bowed to Victoria. "I apologize wholeheartedly for the little incident that happened earlier. This meal is on me. I hope you both enjoy your dining experience, lovely ladies."
"That's about right." Victoria finally breathed a sigh of relief as she proudly lifted her face.
Victoria gestured toward the seat where Lance and Leila had sat not long ago and requested, "This seat is dirty; please make sure to disinfect it properly."
As Leila had not walked far from the table and overheard Victoria's words, she came to an abrupt halt and fixed a menacing gaze on Victoria, grinding her teeth.
"Alright, I'm on it."
Once he had directed the waiter to disinfect the area, Henry turned to Edmund and politely inquired.
"Mr. Hahn, does my way of handling this matter meet your satisfaction?"
Edmund's face remained expressionless as he parted his thin lips and spoke, "You are now the supervisor."
Henry was thrilled beyond words after hearing Edmund.
Victoria sneaked a quick look at Edmund.
Even though Edmund was incredibly handsome, there was always a coldness in his gaze and face, completely concealing his emotions.
Victoria could not guess whether Edmund supported her or had another motive.
"Don't overthink it. I'm just sticking to my principles."
Edmund's voice confronted Victoria.
Victoria was speechless as she felt a sudden wave of disappointment.
Victoria was definitely overthinking things!
Edmund was Xenia's boyfriend, after all!
How could Victoria have foolishly believed that Edmund would go against Xenia and stand up for her?
Victoria suppressed the tinge of disappointment in her gaze and smiled proudly.
"Mr. Hahn, don't read too much into it. I'm not the sentimental kind."
Edmund's deep gaze remained impenetrable.
Since yesterday, Edmund could not help but feel increasingly annoyed by Victoria's apparent disregard for him. This time, the annoyance surged through him like an overwhelming rush.
Suddenly, Edmund pulled Xenia into his arms and said in a severe tone, "Let's go!"
"Okay, Edwin."
Xenia replied with her face beaming with happiness.
However, there was a sense of uncertainty swirling in her thoughts.
Although Edwin had agreed to become Xenia's boyfriend, they had only met face-to-face three times.
Edwin embodied his name, exuding the coldness of an actual emperor from within.
Despite Xenia's repeated efforts to get closer to Edwin, she was met with his cold rejections or dismissive pushes. He only allowed her to hold his arm, setting his boundaries there.
It was the first time Edwin held Xenia in his arms!
Yet, Xenia felt there was something oddly strange about their first hug.
It seemed as though Edwin used Xenia to provoke other women.
Furthermore, was Edwin's intervention to resolve Victoria's conflict a mere matter of principle?
It puzzled Xenia why she always thought that Edwin was intentionally showing favoritism toward Victoria.
Edmund slowly walked off into the distance.
Eloisa observed Edmund's silhouette, her gaze fixed on him.
"Hey, Victoria. Vernon told me yesterday that your would-be brother-in-law is gorgeous, but I never imagined he would be this handsome. I've never seen such a handsome man before, not even among male celebrities. His physique is out of this world, and his aura almost takes my breath away."
Victoria also had her gaze fixed on Edmund.
Something about Edmund enveloping Xenia in his arms left Victoria feeling strangely empty. And as they moved farther away, that sense of emptiness intensified within her heart.
"Such a perfect man; it's a pity he's blind. Otherwise, how could he end up with that goody-two-shoes, Xenia? Right, Victoria?"
Victoria nodded absentmindedly, her mind in disarray.
Wealthy men never lack women, especially considering Edmund's extraordinary appearance.
Edmund possessed the charm that would make anyone willingly approach him. If Edmund had been a womanizer, he could have easily had multiple partners and indulged in affairs everywhere.
While Xenia possessed beauty, it was not remarkable. Furthermore, her private life was disorderly, often staying out overnight.
During the summer of last year, Xenia did not return home for two consecutive nights. It was Victoria who eventually found her. When Victoria found Xenia, she was discovered in a hotel, lying on a bed with two men, barely clothed. The sight was unbearable.
Thus, regardless of how one looked at it, Xenia was not a match for Edmund.
It had always puzzled Victoria why Edmund would be in a relationship with Xenia.
Half an hour later, Victoria made a trip to the restroom.
Once she was done in the restroom, Victoria washed her hands at the sink, only to hear a voice behind her saying, "Hello, Victoria, we've met again."
Victoria's hands became still, like sculptures, as they rested in the cold water, incapable of moving.
Victoria knew this voice all too well!
It was Lance!
It took Victoria over a year to try and erase all memories associated with that jerk.
Nevertheless, Edmund's voice had engraved itself on her very being, and even in the present, the instant she heard it, she could immediately identify it...
